Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What it really costs to buy palm oil at Itam or from mills, store it and sell in Uyo, with a worked example, break-even price and cash rules.
Palm oil trading in Uyo pays only when the lean-season selling price beats your full cost per keg, including transport, loading, dues, storage and spoilage. In our labelled example, 40 kegs bought at ₦60,000 and stored for four months cost ₦2,513,000 in total, giving a break-even of about ₦64,440 a keg. Paying sellers in large amounts of cash can add a 3% CBN excess withdrawal fee above ₦500,000 a week.
Palm oil is one of the most traded goods in Akwa Ibom, and many Uyo households and small traders try to make money from it by buying when oil is plentiful and selling when it is scarce. The idea is simple. The margin is not. Between the mill gate and the final buyer sit transport, loading, storage, spoilage, market dues, cash-handling costs and the time your money is tied up. This guide sets out each cost so you can price a trade before you commit to it. All naira amounts below are labelled examples to show the arithmetic, not market quotes: prices change by week and by quality, so record your own.
Traders in and around Uyo usually buy from two kinds of seller. The first is the open market: the Itam axis on the edge of Uyo is commonly reported as a busy point for farm produce coming in from surrounding local government areas, and traders there sell by the jerrycan. The second is the source itself: small village mills and processors in the hinterland, where the price is usually lower but you carry the cost and risk of collecting the oil. See our guide to Itam and Etuk Street markets for how the main markets work.
Suppose a trader buys 40 kegs from mills during a period of plenty, stores them for four months and sells in the lean season. The figures are a labelled example.
| Cost item (example) | Amount |
|---|---|
| 40 kegs at ₦60,000 each | ₦2,400,000 |
| Transport from mills to Uyo store | ₦40,000 |
| Loading and offloading | ₦8,000 |
| Market or union dues on arrival | ₦5,000 |
| Store rent, 4 months at ₦15,000 | ₦60,000 |
| Total cost | ₦2,513,000 |
Now allow for loss. If one keg leaks or is spoilt, the trader sells 39, not 40. At an example selling price of ₦72,000 per keg, revenue is 39 × ₦72,000 = ₦2,808,000, leaving a gross margin of ₦295,000 before the trader pays for their own time. If the price only rises to ₦66,000, revenue is ₦2,574,000 and the margin falls to ₦61,000. The break-even price in this example is ₦2,513,000 ÷ 39, about ₦64,440 a keg. That one number is the most useful thing to work out before you buy: if you do not expect the lean-season price to clear it comfortably, the trade is not worth the risk.
Palm oil prices in the south-south generally follow the harvest of palm fruit. Traders commonly describe a period of plenty, when mills produce more and prices soften, followed by a lean period when supply drops and prices climb, with extra demand around festive cooking in December. The exact months vary by year and rainfall, so the safest guide is your own record: note the price you see each week at the same market for the same quality, and after a season you will know your local pattern better than any article can tell you.
Mills and village sellers often prefer cash, and that has a cost. Under the CBN cash withdrawal rules effective 1 January 2026, individuals can withdraw ₦500,000 a week across all channels; above that, a 3% fee applies on the excess (Channels TV, December 2025). In the example above, withdrawing ₦2,400,000 in one week as an individual would mean ₦1,900,000 over the limit and an excess fee of ₦57,000, almost a fifth of the expected margin. Paying by bank transfer wherever a seller accepts it avoids that. Since 1 January 2026 a ₦50 stamp duty applies to electronic transfers of ₦10,000 or more, paid by the sender (Techeconomy, January 2026).
On the selling side, buyers in Uyo range from households and food sellers buying a keg at a time to restaurants, caterers and traders who resell outside the state. Larger buyers usually pay by transfer. Confirm that money has landed in your account before you release the oil; a screenshot is not payment.
Market and union dues are part of the cost of trading, but not every collector is lawful. The Taxes and Levies (Approved List for Collection) Act lists what local governments may collect, including shop and kiosk rates and motor park levies, and says only the appropriate tax authority may collect (PLAC text). Ask for an official receipt. If you trade through a registered company with turnover below ₦100 million and fixed assets below ₦250 million, the 2025 tax laws treat it as a small company exempt from company income tax (Mondaq, January 2026). For how trading income is taxed if you are not registered, see tax on side income. This is information, not tax advice.
A Pryme Business Account lets a trader receive transfers from buyers and pay sellers by transfer, keeping trade money apart from household money. If you sell to buyers abroad, foreign-currency payments stay in the currency they arrived in until you choose to convert with Swap, where the rate is shown first and the fee on its own line.
It can be, but only if the lean-season price clears your break-even price after transport, storage, dues and losses. Work that number out before buying.
Traders commonly report lower prices during the main harvest, when mills produce more, and higher prices in the lean months and around December. Keep your own weekly price record to confirm the pattern.
Storage cost is mainly rent, containers and losses. In our labelled example, four months of rent added ₦60,000 to a 40-keg trade.
Yes, but as an individual you can withdraw ₦500,000 a week from 1 January 2026 before a 3% excess fee applies, so large cash purchases can be costly.
