Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

NYSC corper money guide for Ado-Ekiti and Ekiti State

How far ₦77,000 goes for a corps member in Ado-Ekiti: labelled rent and food budget, Ekiti postings, SAED and saving before passing out.

The short answer

Corps members in Ekiti State receive the federal NYSC allowance of ₦77,000 a month, paid since the March 2025 payout; any extra stipend depends on your place of primary assignment. In our labelled example, a corper sharing accommodation in Ado-Ekiti can cover rent, food and transport and still save ₦10,000 a month.

What a corps member in Ekiti is actually paid

The federal allowance is the same in every state. NYSC began paying corps members ₦77,000 a month with the March 2025 payout, up from ₦33,000, TheCable reported after the scheme's spokesperson confirmed it. That figure is paid by the Federal Government. Some places of primary assignment (PPAs) and some state governments add their own stipend, but this is a choice by the employer or state, not a national entitlement, so do not budget on it until you have seen it paid.

Before you are posted at all, make sure your records match. A University of Nigeria memo for the 2026 Batch C exercise states that the National Identification Number is now a requirement for online NYSC registration, and that the name on your NIN must match your statement of result. If yours do not match, fix the NIN early; our guide to NIN and BVN correction in Ado-Ekiti explains where.

Where corpers in Ekiti are posted

After orientation camp, whose location is given on your call-up letter, you are posted to a PPA somewhere in the state. Ekiti has 16 local government areas, from Ado-Ekiti and Ikere to Ikole, Ijero, Oye and Omuo-Ekiti, according to the state government's list. A posting in Ado-Ekiti itself usually means more expensive rent but cheaper access to markets, banks and transport; a posting to a smaller town usually means lower rent but more spending on trips to the capital for banking or supplies. Ask previous corpers at your PPA what accommodation the employer provides, if any, before you commit to rent.

A labelled example monthly budget on ₦77,000

The figures below are an example for a corps member sharing accommodation in Ado-Ekiti with no stipend from the PPA. They are illustrative, not a price survey; replace them with what you actually pay.

Item (example figures)Per month
Rent share (₦180,000 a year, split monthly)₦15,000
Food and cooking gas₦35,000
Transport to and from PPA₦8,000
Phone data and airtime₦5,000
Toiletries and laundry₦4,000
Saved₦10,000
Total₦77,000

In this example, saving ₦10,000 a month for the 11 months after camp would leave ₦110,000 at the end of service, before any interest. That is enough to cover a deposit on a room or a few months of job-search costs, which is the point of saving during service.

Feeding without overspending

Food is the line that moves most. National Bureau of Statistics figures for April 2026, reported by ThisDay, put Ekiti's average price for a bottle of palm oil at ₦2,819.09, the highest of any state that month, while white garri averaged ₦808.96 a kilogram nationally. Buying staples in bulk on market days and cooking with housemates usually costs less than eating out daily. Our guide to seasons that move prices in Ado-Ekiti explains when food and rent tend to rise.

Rent: share, ask, and get it in writing

Sharing a flat or a self-contained room is a common way to spread the rent. Landlords commonly ask for annual payment, so a one-year lease that runs past your passing-out date is a real risk; ask whether the landlord will accept a shorter term or a refund arrangement, and get it written into the agreement. Our guide to rent in Ado-Ekiti by area gives example ranges.

Getting paid and keeping the money safe

The allowance is paid into the bank account you registered, so the account name must match your NYSC record. Corpers posted to smaller Ekiti towns often depend on POS agents for cash, and each withdrawal carries a charge set by the agent, so it usually costs less to pay traders and landlords by transfer and take out cash in one larger withdrawal. Be wary of messages offering to "process" allowance arrears or redeployment for a fee; treat them as likely scams and check with the NYSC office directly. Our guide to POS fraud lists the common tricks.

Earning more during service

The NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, described by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in April 2026, is open to serving corps members and covers more than 20 skill tracks, including software development, fashion design, food processing, solar installation, agribusiness and photography. You choose a skill at camp and can continue with accredited centres after camp. Some corpers also tutor, run small online businesses or take weekend work. Check your PPA's rules on outside work before taking any.

What to check first

  1. Confirm your NIN and statement-of-result names match before registration.
  2. Read your call-up letter for the camp location and what to bring.
  3. Ask your PPA whether it provides accommodation, transport or a stipend.
  4. Choose a lease that does not lock you in beyond your service year, or agree a refund term.
  5. Set up an automatic saving amount the day your first allowance lands.

Where Pryme fits

A Fixed Savings Box can hold your monthly saving until passing out, with the rate shown in the app before you commit. A Personal Assistant on your Personal Account can remind you about bills and suggest saving amounts, but nothing moves without your approval.

Questions people ask

How much is NYSC allowance now?

₦77,000 a month, paid by the Federal Government. TheCable reported that payment at this rate began with the March 2025 payout. Some PPAs or states pay extra, but that is not guaranteed.

Does Ekiti State pay corpers extra allowance?

We found no official Ekiti State page setting a state stipend for corps members. Some employers pay their own stipend; ask your PPA directly.

Can a corper survive on ₦77,000 in Ado-Ekiti?

Our labelled example shows it is possible when sharing accommodation and cooking at home, with ₦10,000 a month saved. Living alone in a central area would make it much tighter.

Is NIN compulsory for NYSC registration?

Yes. A 2026 University of Nigeria memo states the NIN is now a requirement for online NYSC registration and must match your statement of result.
