Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Rent in Ado-Ekiti by area: Adebayo, Basiri, GRA, Iworoko Road

Illustrative yearly rent for self-con, mini flat and two-bedroom flats in GRA, Adebayo, Basiri and Iworoko Road, plus agency fees and rent relief.

The short answer

Rent in Ado-Ekiti is usually paid a year in advance and varies by area and building. In our illustrative ranges, a mini flat costs about ₦400,000 to ₦700,000 a year in GRA, ₦350,000 to ₦600,000 in Adebayo, and ₦250,000 to ₦450,000 in Basiri or on Iworoko Road, plus agency, agreement and caution fees.

How rent works in Ado-Ekiti

Rent in Ado-Ekiti is usually quoted per year and paid in advance, and the asking price depends on three things: the area, the type of unit and the condition of the building (water, meter, security and road access). There is no official rent register for the city, so the ranges below are illustrative examples, chosen to show how areas and unit types compare. They are not survey data. Use them to judge whether a quote is in the right territory, then negotiate on the actual flat.

The three unit types most people look for are a self-contained room (one room with its own bathroom and kitchen space), a mini flat (a room and parlour with kitchen and bathroom), and a two-bedroom flat. Ado-Ekiti is administered as one local government area with three development areas, Ado Central, Ado-West and Ado-North, according to the Ekiti State Government; the neighbourhoods below sit across them.

Example rent ranges by area, per year

Area (illustrative)Self-contained roomMini flatTwo-bedroom flat
GRA₦250,000 to ₦400,000₦400,000 to ₦700,000₦700,000 to ₦1,500,000
Adebayo₦200,000 to ₦350,000₦350,000 to ₦600,000₦500,000 to ₦1,000,000
Basiri₦150,000 to ₦250,000₦250,000 to ₦450,000₦400,000 to ₦750,000
Iworoko Road₦120,000 to ₦250,000₦250,000 to ₦450,000₦400,000 to ₦700,000

What shapes each area's prices

  • GRA is commonly described as the city's quieter, more established residential area, with larger plots and detached houses. Expect the top of the range for newer buildings with good water and a dedicated meter.
  • Adebayo is commonly described as a busy, central area close to shops and transport, which keeps demand and prices up, especially for newer mini flats.
  • Basiri is commonly described as a large, mixed residential area with a wide spread of older and newer buildings, so prices vary a lot street by street.
  • Iworoko Road runs towards the state university area and is commonly described as popular with students, with many self-contained rooms. Demand there tends to rise around university resumption.

Student zones behave differently. Landlords near campuses often fill rooms before each academic session starts, and some ask for rent to cover the full academic year. Our guide to student money in Ado-Ekiti covers off-campus living costs, and our guide to seasons that move prices explains the timing.

Agency, agreement and other fees

On top of the rent, expect some combination of an agency or commission fee, an agreement or legal fee for drafting the tenancy agreement, a refundable caution deposit and, in some compounds, a service charge for shared water, security or a generator. We could not find an Ekiti State law that fixes agency or agreement fees, so they are negotiated case by case. Agree them in writing before viewing more than once.

Here is an example of the full upfront cost for a mini flat in Adebayo rented at ₦450,000 a year, with an agency fee of 10% and an agreement fee of 5%:

Negotiating and renewals

Asking prices are a starting point. Landlords with a unit that has been empty for some weeks, or tenants willing to pay promptly in full, often have room to agree a lower figure or a waiver of the service charge for the first year. Ask, too, how the landlord handles renewals: some raise the rent every year, others only after two or three years. A clause stating how much notice you will get of an increase, and roughly how it will be set, protects you from a surprise demand a month before the lease ends. If the building needs repairs, agree in writing who pays before you hand over money.

Rent relief if you are employed

The Nigeria Tax Act 2025 gives employees rent relief of 20% of annual rent, capped at ₦500,000, according to BusinessDay's explainer. The relief reduces taxable income rather than the tax itself. As an example, rent of ₦600,000 gives relief of ₦120,000; if that income would otherwise be taxed in the 15% band, the tax saving is ₦18,000. Keep your tenancy agreement and receipts. Our rent relief guide explains how to claim.

What to check before paying

  1. Confirm the person collecting rent is the owner or has written authority from the owner.
  2. Inspect the meter, water source, toilet, roof and doors, and photograph them.
  3. Read the agreement for the rent period, renewal terms, caution refund and who pays for repairs.
  4. Pay by transfer to a named account and keep the receipt.
  5. Ask neighbours about flooding, power supply and security on the street.

For help deciding what you can afford, see our guide to how much rent you can afford on your salary.

Where Pryme fits

Saving a year's rent is easier in a separate Savings Box, with the rate shown in the app. When you pay, a verifiable receipt from VerifyDoc.ai gives both you and the landlord a record anyone can check is genuine.

Questions people ask

How much is a self-contained room in Ado-Ekiti?

It depends on the area and condition. In our illustrative ranges, from about ₦120,000 a year near the university areas to ₦400,000 in GRA. Get several quotes.

Which area is cheapest to rent in Ado-Ekiti?

In our illustrative ranges, areas such as Basiri and Iworoko Road come out lower than GRA and Adebayo, but prices vary street by street and by building condition.

How much is agency fee in Ado-Ekiti?

We found no Ekiti law fixing it, so it is negotiated. Our example uses 10% of the rent; agree the figure in writing before paying.

Can I pay rent monthly in Ado-Ekiti?

Most landlords ask for a year in advance. Some accept shorter terms; ask, and write any agreed arrangement into the tenancy agreement.
