You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

We give the buyer a one-time account number. They transfer to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company does, why it never lends to you directly, and how its uniform underwriting standards shape your mortgage.
The Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company (NMRC) is a wholesale institution: it does not lend to individuals. It raises long-term money by issuing bonds and lends it to member mortgage lenders against pools of mortgages written to its Uniform Underwriting Standards, which gives those lenders longer and steadier funding than deposits. You benefit only indirectly, by borrowing from a member lender whose loan meets those standards, so ask your lender whether your mortgage is eligible for NMRC refinancing.
Many Nigerians first hear of NMRC when a mortgage lender mentions "refinancing". The word causes confusion: in everyday use, refinancing means swapping your own loan for a cheaper one. NMRC refinancing is something different, happening between your lender and the capital market. This guide explains the mechanism, what the underwriting standards are, and what it means for your rate.
So you cannot apply to NMRC for a mortgage, and NMRC does not set the rate on your offer letter. Your lender does.
A Nigerian bank funds most loans from deposits that customers can withdraw at short notice. Lending that money for 15 or 20 years at a fixed rate is risky, so banks either avoid long mortgages or price them high and variable. CBN figures show the gap: as at August 2026, the CBN's money market indicators put the average prime lending rate at 17.86% and the average maximum lending rate at 29.20%, with the monetary policy rate at 26.50%. Check the CBN page for the latest month.
When a lender can sell or pledge a pool of mortgages to NMRC in exchange for long-term funds, it no longer has to match a 20-year loan with short-term deposits. NMRC's page describes this as giving lenders "increased access to liquidity and longer terms funds in the mortgage market". Cheaper, longer, more predictable funding is what makes a lower and more stable mortgage rate possible. Whether a particular lender passes the benefit on to you is a commercial decision you should ask about directly.
NMRC says it developed Uniform Underwriting Standards (UUS) with the CBN, the Mortgage Banking Association of Nigeria, the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the NDIC, and that all its member lenders now use them to process mortgage applications. Standards are operational for four groups:
In practice the UUS shape the documents you are asked for, how your income is verified, how the property and its title are assessed, and how your affordability is tested. A loan written to the standard can be pooled and refinanced; one that is not cannot, which is why a member lender may be firm about a missing document.
If you already have a mortgage and want a cheaper one, that is borrower refinancing: a new lender pays off the old loan and you repay the new one. NMRC is not part of that decision, though a new lender that is an NMRC member may be able to offer longer fixed terms. Before switching, compare the cost of leaving (any early repayment charge, legal fees, a fresh valuation, the Governor's consent needed for a new mortgage over a statutory right of occupancy) against the interest you would save. The steps for clearing an existing loan are in paying off a mortgage early.
| NMRC refinancing | Borrower refinancing | |
|---|---|---|
| Who does it | Your lender, with NMRC | You, by moving to a new lender |
| What changes for you | Usually nothing on your loan; the lender's funding changes | New offer letter, rate, tenor and fees |
| Who you deal with | Your existing lender only | Old lender for a settlement figure, new lender for the loan |
Take a ₦20,000,000 loan. At an example rate of 20% a year, one year's interest on the full balance is ₦4,000,000. If a variable rate rose to 25%, the same year would cost ₦5,000,000, ₦1,000,000 more. Long-term refinanced funding is meant to let lenders offer a rate that does not swing like this. Real mortgage interest falls as the balance is repaid, so these figures only show the size of the difference, not your schedule; see a full mortgage repayment worked example.
Pryme does not offer mortgages. What NMRC-standard lenders do look for is a clear record of income and savings. A Naira Savings Box can hold your equity contribution apart from daily spending, and a verifiable statement made with VerifyDoc.ai lets a lender confirm it is genuine and unaltered (verifiable statements). For lender options, see the list of primary mortgage banks.
No. NMRC states that it is a wholesale institution and does not lend to individuals. You borrow from a member mortgage bank or commercial bank.
Common rules, developed with the CBN, MBAN, FMBN and NDIC, that member lenders use to process mortgage applications. Standards exist for formal, informal, non-interest and Diaspora borrowers.
It can make lower, fixed rates possible by giving lenders long-term funds, but your lender sets your rate. Ask whether your loan is eligible and whether the rate is fixed.
Ask the lender directly and get the answer in writing, along with confirmation that your loan will be written to the NMRC standards.
