Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Missed your NIN enrolment appointment abroad: rescheduling

NIN enrolment abroad is run by NIMC-licensed partners, each with its own booking rules. What a missed slot means and how to rebook without paying twice.

The short answer

Outside Nigeria, NIN enrolment appointments are booked and run by NIMC's licensed diaspora partners, not by NIMC directly, and NIMC does not publish a single rule for missed appointments. What happens depends on the partner's booking terms: contact the partner that took your booking, ask in writing whether your payment carries over to a new slot, and rebook through the same partner rather than paying a new one.

Who holds your appointment

NIMC enrols Nigerians abroad through licensed front-end partners, often called FEPs or diaspora agents. In August 2025 Channels TV reported that NIMC had upgraded its diaspora enrolment platform and told all diaspora partners to obtain and activate licences on it within 48 hours, with services to come from "compliant partners". The report did not list the partners or their fees.

The practical result is that your appointment, your payment and your enrolment record all sit with the partner you booked with. Missions sometimes publish the names of partners active in their country, as the High Commission in Ottawa did in 2023, but the booking itself is between you and the partner.

What a missed slot usually means

Three things can happen, depending on the partner's terms:

  • Free rebooking. The fee you paid stays on your booking and you choose another date.
  • Rebooking fee. The partner charges an extra amount to move the slot.
  • Forfeit. The booking lapses and you pay again.

Read the confirmation email or receipt you got when you booked. It is the document that sets which of these applies. If it says nothing, ask the partner in writing before you assume you must pay again.

Steps to rebook

  1. Find your booking reference, receipt and the email address or phone number you used.
  2. Contact the same partner, by email so you have a record, and ask: is my payment still valid, what dates are open, and is there a charge to move?
  3. Check that the partner is still licensed before paying anything more; see checking that a NIN agent is approved.
  4. Book the new slot and keep the new confirmation with the old one.
  5. Bring the identity documents your confirmation lists. If your names differ between documents, settle which order you will use before the appointment, because changing NIN data afterwards is a separate process.

Use the gap to get your records in order

A missed slot is a chance to fix the things that cause trouble later. Enrolment records the names, date of birth and other details you give, and those details then follow you into your BVN, passport, SIM registration and Tax ID, since NIMC's own verification service is used across those systems. Before your new date:

  • Decide the exact order and spelling of your names, matching your passport if you have one.
  • Check your date of birth against your birth certificate or age declaration, and bring the document.
  • If you married or changed your name, bring the marriage certificate or other evidence of the change.
  • Have your Nigerian phone number ready if you still use one, since some later services may expect a number linked to your NIN.
  • Bring the booking confirmation and payment receipt on paper and on your phone.

Getting this right first time avoids a modification request later, which is slower from abroad.

Mistakes that cost money

Booking again with a different partner

A second partner will normally charge a full fee, and you then have two open bookings. Rebook with the original partner unless it has stopped operating or refuses to help.

Paying through unofficial links

After a missed slot, people search for quick rebooking and find social media sellers offering appointments. Pay only through the partner's own channels. If you cannot tell whether a site belongs to a licensed partner, ask your mission.

Assuming enrolment equals a NIN

Attending the appointment captures your data. The NIN is issued after NIMC processes it. Once issued, you can confirm it through NINAuth, NIMC's verification service, which BusinessDay described in September 2026 as the official channel for NIN verification and which requires the NIN holder's consent before data is shared. Then download the slip; see downloading a NIN slip from abroad.

If the partner does not respond

Keep every message and receipt. Ask your Nigerian mission whether it can name the partners currently active in your country or pass on the complaint; Ottawa's 2023 post, for example, shows mission staff answering applicants' questions about NIN vendors. If you paid by card, your card issuer's dispute process may help where a service was paid for and not provided. If you were enrolled but the record has an error, the partner is usually the first point of contact: Ottawa's staff said in 2023 that NIN date-of-birth errors were corrected through the NIN vendor. See changing NIN details from abroad.

Where Pryme fits

Every Pryme personal account can set up a Personal Assistant Agent (Eva by default) that helps with reminders as well as bills and saving. You could set a reminder for the new appointment date and the documents to bring; it prepares, and nothing moves without your approval. See the Personal Assistant.

Questions people ask

I missed my NIN appointment abroad. Do I pay again?

It depends on the partner's booking terms. Check your confirmation and ask the partner in writing whether your payment carries over before paying anything new.

Can NIMC reschedule my diaspora NIN appointment?

Diaspora appointments are run by NIMC's licensed partners, so rescheduling is done by the partner you booked with.

How do I know my NIN agent abroad is licensed?

NIMC licenses diaspora partners on its enrolment platform. Ask your Nigerian mission which partners are active and see our guide on checking an agent.

How long after enrolment do I get my NIN?

The pages we read give no standard time for diaspora enrolments. Ask your partner, and once the NIN is issued, verify it through NINAuth.
