Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals and follows up. Nothing leaves your account without your approval.
Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She holds dollars, pounds, euros and Naira side by side, swaps at a locked rate, pays bills in any of them and sends anywhere, asking before anything moves.

We give you a limit to spend at the shops and services you already use — and an account that works on your month while you get on with it. Dollars, pounds and euros sit beside your Naira, and an assistant handles the running of it, asking you first every single time.
One global account for your money and business. Move across currencies, automate everyday operations and put AI agents to work — with you in control of every important decision.

BruceCareYour competitor down the road sells the same thing you sell. The difference is who walks in. We put money in people’s hands that can only be spent in businesses like yours — and then we point them at you.
You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

No card, no OTP, nothing for the buyer to type in. They transfer from the bank app they already use, and the money lands in the same account your agents are running — already matched to the order, already in your books.
We give the buyer a one-time account number. They transfer to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

A naira money market fund is usually a PFIC for a US taxpayer. What that means for filing, the $25,000 exception and the records to keep from day one.
For a US citizen, green card holder or other US tax resident, a Nigerian money market fund is usually a passive foreign investment company (PFIC), because almost all of its income is interest. The IRS Form 8621 instructions make a fund a PFIC if 75% or more of its gross income is passive or at least 50% of its assets produce passive income. That brings a separate Form 8621 for each fund, possible interest charges on distributions and gains, and record-keeping in dollars from the first naira you invest.
A money market fund in Nigeria pools savers' naira and places it in Treasury bills, commercial paper and bank deposits. Money market funds are the largest part of the Nigerian mutual fund market: SEC weekly data reported by Nairametrics put them at ₦5.68 trillion, or 64.83% of all fund assets, as at April 2026. For a saver in Lagos the attraction is simple. For a Nigerian living in Houston or Atlanta who files a US return, the same fund raises a US tax question that most Nigerian fund managers never mention.
The IRS Instructions for Form 8621 (revised December 2025) define a passive foreign investment company by two tests, and a foreign corporation that meets either one is a PFIC:
Interest is passive income, and a money market fund's assets are interest-bearing paper, so a fund of this kind would normally meet both tests. The open question for some funds is classification: Nigerian collective schemes are often unit trusts, and whether a given scheme is treated as a foreign corporation for US purposes depends on how it is set up. Funds of this kind are commonly treated as PFICs, but confirm the classification of your fund with a US preparer who knows foreign funds. Our wider guide to Nigerian mutual funds and PFIC rules covers equity and bond funds too.
If you make no election, the fund is a "section 1291 fund" and the default rules apply. The Form 8621 instructions describe the core of it:
Two elections can replace the default. A QEF election (section 1295) needs a PFIC Annual Information Statement from the fund showing your share of its ordinary earnings and net capital gain; ask your fund manager in writing whether it will produce one for US investors, because without it the election is not available. A mark-to-market election (section 1296) applies only to "marketable stock", meaning stock regularly traded on qualifying exchanges or certain stock described in the regulations; an unlisted Nigerian money market fund is unlikely to qualify, so check before relying on it. See our explainers on the QEF election and the Form 8621 filing itself.
The instructions require a separate Form 8621 for each PFIC, attached to your income tax return and filed by its due date including extensions. If you do not have to file a return, the form goes on its own to the IRS Center in Ogden, Utah.
There is a relief for small holdings. You need not complete Part I (the annual information report) for a section 1291 fund if, on the last day of the tax year, the aggregate value of all your PFIC stock is $25,000 or less ($50,000 for a joint return), and you received no excess distribution and recognised no gain from that fund in the year. A separate $5,000 test applies to certain indirect holdings. The exception is tested on the year-end value of all PFIC stock you hold, not one fund at a time, and it falls away the year you redeem at a gain.
A nurse in Dallas, filing single, puts ₦12,000,000 into a naira money market fund. Using an illustrative rate of ₦1,500 to $1, that is $8,000 at purchase. By 31 December, with interest reinvested, the holding is ₦13,800,000, which at an illustrative year-end rate of ₦1,520 is about $9,079. She holds no other PFIC, so the aggregate value is under $25,000. If she has no excess distribution and sells nothing, the Part I report is not required for that year. If in year three she redeems at a gain, Form 8621 is needed for that year whatever the value. The rates here are examples; the IRS says to convert at the rate prevailing when each amount is received or paid and that it has no official exchange rate.
PFIC calculations reach back to the day you bought. If you redeem years later and cannot show what you paid, the computation becomes guesswork. Keep, for each fund:
| Record | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Each purchase: date, naira amount, units, unit price | Sets your holding period and cost for the section 1291 allocation |
| Naira-to-dollar rate used for each date, and its source | The IRS accepts any posted rate used consistently; you must be able to show which |
| Every distribution or dividend reinvestment, with dates | Needed for the 125% three-year average test |
| Year-end statement showing units and value | Tests the $25,000 / $50,000 exception and supports FBAR and Form 8938 values |
| Copies of every Form 8621 and any PFIC Annual Information Statement | The instructions say QEF shareholders must keep them; failing to produce them can end the election |
| Redemption confirmations | Show the gain recognised and the date |
Form 8621 does not replace the other foreign-asset reports. The IRS FBAR page treats mutual fund holdings at a financial institution outside the US as foreign financial accounts, filed on FinCEN Form 114 if your foreign accounts together exceed $10,000 at any time in the year, due 15 April with an automatic extension to 15 October. Form 8938 has separate thresholds: for a single filer living in the US, more than $50,000 on the last day of the year or more than $75,000 at any time (IRS comparison page, reviewed September 2026). The Nigeria-side guide to money market funds explains how the funds themselves work.
Pryme is a technology company, not a fund manager, and it does not sell money market funds. If what you need is naira on hand for family or a project at home, a Pryme account opened from the US can hold USD and NGN, and Swap shows the rate and the fee before you approve a conversion. Naira deposits are held by a licensed Nigerian microfinance bank, so treat the account as a foreign account for FBAR purposes. Statements you can download, including verifiable ones through VerifyDoc.ai (receipts and statements), help with the dated records the IRS expects. See multicurrency accounts.
Usually yes for a US taxpayer, because nearly all its income is interest and its assets produce passive income. The IRS tests are 75% passive income or 50% passive assets. Confirm the fund's US classification with a preparer.
Possibly not the Part I report: if all your PFIC stock is worth $25,000 or less at year-end ($50,000 joint) and you had no excess distribution or gain from that fund, the instructions say Part I need not be completed.
Only if the fund gives you a PFIC Annual Information Statement. Ask the manager in writing; without the statement the election is not available.
Yes, mutual fund accounts at institutions outside the US count toward the $10,000 FBAR threshold. Form 8938 may also apply depending on your total foreign assets.

Nigerian money market and bond funds hold almost only passive assets, so they are likely PFICs. What that means, and why Form 8621 makes them costly.
