Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ghana

How does a Nigerian director get a TIN for a Ghana company?

Why a Nigerian director of a Ghana company needs a Ghana TIN, what GRA uses it for, and the ID questions to settle with GRA before you file.

The short answer

A Nigerian director of a Ghana company deals with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) for a Taxpayer Identification Number, because GRA's processes, including the tax clearance certificate, run on the TIN. Ghanaians use the Ghana Card for this; a non-citizen without one should confirm with GRA which identity document it accepts before incorporation, as we could not confirm GRA's current rule for foreign directors from a GRA page in October 2026.

Why the director's TIN matters

There are two TINs in play: the company's and the individual director's. The company needs its own for returns, PAYE and certificates. The director's personal details are asked for when the company is incorporated and in later filings, and a director who also draws a salary in Ghana is an employee for PAYE purposes. GRA's tax clearance page shows how central the TIN is: the Commissioner-General will not issue a certificate unless the applicant has a TIN, stated in the application, and has no outstanding returns.

A director whose own TIN record is wrong, missing or under a different spelling of the name can hold up the company's filings, and later its tax clearance certificate, which GRA says may be needed for government tenders and for renewing an expatriate's residence or work permit.

The identity question for non-citizens

Ghanaian agencies ask Ghanaians for the Ghana Card. For a Nigerian, the practical question is what GRA and the Office of the Registrar of Companies accept as identity for a non-citizen who does not hold a Ghana Card. We did not find an official GRA or ORC page in October 2026 that answers this for foreign directors, so we do not state a rule. What we can say:

  • SSNIT's employer registration page lists "GhanaCard or passport of the employer", so at least one Ghanaian agency names the passport as acceptable for a non-citizen employer.
  • A Nigerian living in Ghana on a residence permit may be able to obtain identification issued to foreign residents; ask the issuing authority and GRA whether that is now required for a TIN.
  • A Nigerian director living outside Ghana is in a different position from one resident in Accra; tell GRA which applies to you.

Steps

  1. Decide whether you will live in Ghana or direct from abroad. At least one director must be ordinarily resident in Ghana under section 182 of Act 992; see the resident director rule.
  2. Gather your Nigerian passport, residence permit if any, a Ghana address with GPS digital address, and contact details.
  3. Ask GRA (contact centre 0800-900-110 or a GRA office) which ID it accepts for a non-citizen TIN and how to apply.
  4. Apply and note the TIN exactly as issued, with your name spelt as on your passport.
  5. Give the TIN to your company secretary for the incorporation or update filing; see registering on the ORC portal.
  6. If you are also on the payroll, make sure the company's PAYE records use the same TIN.

Name and data consistency

Nigerian names are often written in different orders on different documents, and a middle name present on a passport may be missing on a residence permit. Pick one form, the one on your passport, and use it on the TIN, the ORC record, the SSNIT record and the bank's records. A mismatch is the most common reason a filing is bounced back, and it is far easier to prevent than to correct afterwards.

Example

Example, for illustration: Emeka Okafor Nwosu, a Nigerian living in Lagos, will be one of two directors of a Ghana company; the other director lives in Kumasi. His passport reads NWOSU, Emeka Okafor. He asks GRA which ID it accepts, applies, and receives a TIN in that exact name. The company secretary uses it on the ORC filing. Two years later the company applies for a tax clearance certificate for a tender, and the record matches across GRA and ORC, so nothing is held up on his account.

If you are already a director without a TIN

If you were appointed some time ago and the company secretary filed without your TIN, fix it now rather than at the next deadline. Apply for the TIN, then ask the secretary to update the company's record. A director's TIN is also useful if you later receive dividends or fees from the company, since the company will need to record who it paid.

Where Pryme fits

Many Nigerian directors of Ghana companies still earn or hold savings in Nigeria. A Pryme Personal Account holds naira, dollars, pounds and euros with account details for each, and the company can run its own Business Account, keeping director and company money apart.

Questions people ask

Can a foreigner get a TIN in Ghana without a Ghana Card?

We could not confirm GRA's current rule for non-citizens from a GRA page in October 2026. Ask GRA in writing which ID it accepts for you.

Do directors of a Ghana company need a TIN?

Director details are required when a company is incorporated and in later filings, and GRA's processes run on TINs; a director on the payroll also needs one for PAYE.

Is a Nigerian passport accepted in Ghana for business registration?

SSNIT lists a Ghana Card or passport of the employer for employer registration. For ORC and GRA, confirm with each office.

Is my Nigerian Tax ID valid in Ghana?

No. A Nigerian Tax ID is for Nigeria. Ghana issues its own TIN through GRA.
