Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ghana

How do I register a Ghana company online on the ORC portal?

Registering a private company in Ghana online with the Office of the Registrar of Companies: what to prepare, the order of steps and what follows.

The short answer

You incorporate a private company limited by shares with Ghana's Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) under the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), using its online system, then register the company with the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority before operating if any owner is not Ghanaian. Prepare the name, a Ghana address, the constitution, and identification and TIN details for every director, shareholder and the secretary, and remember that at least one director must be ordinarily resident in Ghana.

Before you open the portal

Most failed applications fail on preparation, not on the portal. The ORC sets the current forms, fees and identity checks on its own system, and we could not load an ORC page with them in October 2026, so check the fee schedule and accepted IDs there before you pay. What you can settle in advance:

  • A name, and a back-up, checked for availability. See the ORC name search.
  • A registered office in Ghana with a GPS digital address; SSNIT and other agencies ask for the digital address later.
  • Directors: at least one ordinarily resident in Ghana. Section 182 of Act 992 says so, as summarised by Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr. See the resident director rule.
  • A company secretary, with their details; see who can be secretary.
  • Shareholders and the number of shares each holds, and the stated capital.
  • Identification and TIN for each officer. Ghanaians use the Ghana Card. A Nigerian officer should confirm with the ORC which ID it accepts and how a TIN is obtained; see a TIN for a Nigerian director.
  • The constitution, if you are not adopting the standard form.

The steps, in order

The portal's own screens set the exact sequence and may change; the list below is the logical order of the information you will supply, so you can gather it before you start.

  1. Create a user account on the ORC online system.
  2. Reserve or search the proposed name.
  3. Choose the entity type: a private company limited by shares for most founders. A Nigerian company opening a branch registers an external company instead; see external companies.
  4. Enter the company's details: name, nature of business, registered office and digital address.
  5. Enter each director, the secretary and each subscriber, with ID and TIN details as the system requires.
  6. Enter share capital and shareholdings, and attach the constitution if not using the standard one.
  7. Pay the fees shown on the portal.
  8. Download the certificate of incorporation and the other documents the ORC issues once the application is approved.

Investment registration comes next

Incorporation creates the company; it does not authorise a foreign-owned company to operate. AELEX (Mondaq, May 2026) says enterprises with any foreign participation must register with the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority before starting operations, and that GIPA completes registration within five working days of a complete application. Under the GIPA Act, 2026, most activities no longer have a minimum foreign capital, but trading needs US$500,000 in cash and informal retail is reserved for Ghanaians, as reported by Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah. The full sequence is in registering a company in Ghana as a Nigerian.

After the certificate

Next stepBodyWhy

Tax registrationGhana Revenue AuthorityThe company's TIN anchors returns and any tax clearance certificate

Employer registrationSSNITAs soon as you hire one worker

Doing it from Nigeria or elsewhere

Nothing we read requires the Nigerian founder to be in Ghana while the application is filed, but two things tie the company to Ghana from the start: the registered office, and the director who is ordinarily resident in the country. In practice many Nigerian founders work with a Ghanaian lawyer or company secretary who files and keeps the login. If you do, make sure the account and the certificates are in the company's name, that you hold copies, and that the resident director is a real officer who understands the duties, not a name borrowed for the form.

Example

Example, for illustration: Tolu, a Nigerian product designer in Lagos, sets up a design studio company in Accra with her cousin Kofi, who lives in Accra, as the second director and the resident one. A Ghanaian chartered secretary acts as company secretary. They reserve the name, file online, pay the fees the portal shows, and download the certificate. Because Tolu is a shareholder, the company then registers with GIPA before it signs its first client; as a design service it is neither trading nor reserved, so no statutory minimum capital applies under the 2026 Act, as reported.

Common mistakes

  • Naming a nominee Ghanaian director who has no real role. The 2026 investment law prohibits fronting, with administrative penalties reported at GH¢60,000 to GH¢120,000.
  • Describing the activity loosely, so that services drift into trading without the capital rule being met.
  • Losing the login: the account that filed the incorporation is often needed for later changes.
  • Letting the GIPA certificate lapse; it is now annual.

Where Pryme fits

Once the Ghana company exists, a Pryme Business Account can hold naira, dollars, pounds and euros with account details for each, useful for paying a Nigerian parent or suppliers. Pryme's entities page explains how it works across countries.

Questions people ask

Can I register a company in Ghana online from Nigeria?

The ORC runs an online system, but at least one director must be ordinarily resident in Ghana under section 182 of Act 992, and the company needs a Ghana registered office.

What do I need to register a company in Ghana?

A name, a Ghana address with digital address, directors (one resident), a secretary, shareholders and shares, a constitution, and ID and TIN details for officers.

Is ORC registration enough to start business as a foreigner?

No. A company with any foreign participation must also register with GIPA before operating, according to AELEX.

How much does it cost to register a company in Ghana?

The ORC portal shows current fees; we could not confirm them from an ORC page in October 2026.
