Ten years, one trunk

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ireland

Does my Nigerian credit history count in Ireland?

Will Irish lenders see your Nigerian credit record? How the Central Credit Register works, what lenders use instead and how to build an Irish file.

The short answer

No, in practice your Nigerian credit history does not carry over: Irish lenders check the Central Credit Register, which holds data from lenders reporting in Ireland, and we found no Irish official source saying they use Nigerian bureau records. Expect to start with an empty Irish file and build it with a small credit product repaid on time.

Two separate systems

Your Nigerian credit record lives with Nigeria's licensed credit bureaus, which collect data from Nigerian banks, microfinance banks and lenders. Ireland's equivalent is the Central Credit Register (CCR), run by the Central Bank of Ireland. The CCPC describes the CCR as receiving monthly information from lenders, including licensed moneylenders and local authorities, and lists what it does and does not hold. Nothing in that guidance mentions foreign credit records, and we found no Irish official source saying Irish lenders draw on Nigerian bureau data.

In practice, assume your Irish credit file starts empty, however good your Nigerian record is. A decade of repaid Nigerian loans does not appear when an Irish lender checks the CCR, which it must do for applications of €2,000 or more.

What an Irish lender looks at instead

  • Your CCR report, which will be thin or empty at first.
  • Your account with that lender, if you bank there: salary credits, balance, whether you go overdrawn.
  • Income and employment: contract, payslips, length of time in the job.
  • Your residence permission, especially for longer loans; ask how your stamp and its expiry date affect the offer.
  • Your outgoings, including regular money sent to Nigeria, which shows on your statements.

Each lender decides for itself whether to look at other evidence. Some may read a letter or statement from a Nigerian bank as background; none is obliged to. Ask before you apply, rather than after a refusal.

Can Nigerian documents help?

It does no harm to have them ready, as long as they are genuine:

  • A reference letter from your Nigerian bank on headed paper, confirming accounts and any loans repaid.
  • Recent statements showing your Nigerian accounts are in good order.
  • A Nigerian credit report you obtained yourself from a licensed bureau, which some lenders may accept as context.

Do not expect these to replace an Irish record. The Mypryme guide to how Nigerian credit bureaus work explains what a Nigerian report contains, if you want one to hand.

Does it work the other way?

Your Irish behaviour does not feed into Nigerian bureaus either. If you keep loans or cards in Nigeria while living in Ireland, missed payments there still count against your Nigerian record, which matters if you plan to borrow there later or move back. Keep Nigerian accounts in order; our guide to keeping a Nigerian bank account active from Ireland helps.

Building the Irish record quickly

Because the Nigerian record does not carry over, the useful work is in Ireland. The CCPC says loans of €500 or more are recorded, lenders see two years of detailed history, and applications stay on file for six months. That points to a simple plan: one current account with your salary, one small credit product repaid on time, and few applications. Our guide to building a credit history in Ireland sets out the steps, and checking your CCR report shows how to see what lenders see.

Worked example: two applicants

Example only. Ada has repaid three loans in Lagos and has been in Dublin for four months; Emeka has no Nigerian loan history but has held an Irish credit card with a €1,000 limit for 14 months, always paid on time. To an Irish lender's CCR check, Ada's file is empty and Emeka's shows 14 months of on-time payments. On credit history alone Emeka is likely to look stronger, despite Ada's longer record overall. Ada's Nigerian bank reference may help her case if the lender agrees to consider it.

If you think you were treated unfairly

A lender can refuse credit for a thin file, but it should give you a clear answer and handle your data correctly. If something on your CCR report is wrong, ask the lender that reported it to correct it, and add a statement of up to 200 words if it helps explain your position, the CCPC says. If a regulated provider does not resolve a complaint, the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman takes it, free of charge, once you have complained to the provider first.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not lend in Ireland. A Pryme Personal Account holds euro and naira in one place, which helps keep money for home separate from your Irish account, and Swap shows the rate and fee before you convert. Outside Nigeria, Pryme works through regulated partners.

Questions people ask

Does my Nigerian credit history count in Ireland?

Not on the Irish Central Credit Register. We found no Irish official source saying lenders use Nigerian bureau data, so expect to start from zero.

Can I show my Nigerian credit report to an Irish bank?

You can offer it, with a Nigerian bank reference, but each lender decides whether to consider it.

Will missed payments in Nigeria affect my Irish credit?

They are not on the Irish register, but they still count against your Nigerian record, which matters if you borrow there later.

How fast can I build Irish credit?

Each month of on-time payments on a credit product of €500 or more adds to your record; lenders see two years in detail.
