Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Changing your Nigerian company's registered office from abroad

How to file a change of registered address for a Nigerian company at CAC, the 14-day deadline, and who else to tell when the owner lives abroad.

The short answer

A Nigerian company must have a registered office in Nigeria, and CAMA 2020 section 728 requires a change of address to be notified to CAC within 14 days; a post office box is not accepted. The change is a post-incorporation filing on the CAC portal (listed as form CAC 8 in the 2023 service charter, with instant processing as the target). Owners abroad usually file through the company secretary or an accredited agent, then update the bank, the tax authority and any register kept at the old address.

The rules in one place

  • The office must be in Nigeria (CAMA 2020, section 27(1)(b)).
  • Notify CAC within 14 days of the change, and do not use a post office box (section 728).
  • Service: documents can be served on the company at its registered office (section 104). Letters from CAC, courts and creditors go there.
  • Registers: the register of members is kept at the registered office or another permitted place in Nigeria; moving it needs a notice to CAC within 28 days (section 110).

Steps to file

  1. Decide the new address and get the landlord's or provider's written consent to use it as a registered office, if it is not your own property.
  2. Board resolution: the directors resolve to change the registered office from a stated date. This is a directors' decision unless your articles say otherwise.
  3. File on the CAC portal within 14 days. The CAC Service Charter (May 2023) calls this the CAC 8 filing; the 2022 operations checklist labels it CAC 6. The portal shows the current form.
  4. Pay the fee: most post-incorporation filings were ₦5,000 for a small company and ₦10,000 for other private companies under the fee schedule gazetted on 29 May 2025.
  5. Download the updated status report once processed. The charter target for address changes is instant.

Choosing an address when nobody is there daily

Whatever you choose, someone must open the post. Ask the person or provider to scan every letter from CAC, a court, a tax authority or a bank on the day it arrives and send it to you and the company secretary.

Owners abroad usually pick one of three options:

OptionWorks well whenWatch for
Company secretary's or accountant's officeThey already keep your registers and file returnsTheir agreement must cover forwarding mail promptly
Serviced or virtual officeYou need a business address in a commercial areaCheck the provider allows registered-office use and scans mail
Your operating premisesYou have a shop, warehouse or officeThe address changes again if you move premises

We compare these in virtual offices for companies run from abroad and a registered address when the owner is abroad. A relative's home can work, but letters from CAC or a court may sit unopened.

Documents to have ready

  • Signed board resolution with the new address in full, including the state and nearest landmark if the street is not well known.
  • Letter of consent from the landlord or office provider, if you do not own the premises.
  • The company's RC number and current status report.
  • Portal login of the person filing (secretary, agent or director).
  • A recent utility bill or lease for the new address, which banks commonly ask for afterwards.

What goes wrong when the change is not filed

The old address stays on the public record. Court papers, CAC notices about annual returns and creditor demands can be served there, and the company may not learn of a claim until a judgment or a bank restriction arrives. A bank checking your file during a review can also find that the address on its records, the CAC record and your invoices all differ, which slows any transaction. Filing late does not cure letters already missed, so treat the 14 days as a real deadline.

Who else to tell

  • Tax authority: the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025 (section 9) requires a change in particulars to be notified within 30 days.
  • Bank: send the updated CAC status report and a board resolution. Banks often need a recent utility bill or lease for the new address.
  • State revenue service and local government, where your business premises are registered.
  • SCUML, if the company is registered there.
  • Customers and suppliers: update invoices, website and letterhead. CAMA requires the registered name and RC number on business documents and digital platforms; many companies show the registered office too.

Worked example

Example only. A company run from Toronto moves its registered office from a relative's house in Surulere to a serviced office in Ikeja on 1 March. The directors sign a resolution on 25 February. The secretary files the change on 4 March, well inside 14 days, and pays the small-company fee. The owner sends the updated status report to the bank and the tax office before 31 March, and asks the serviced office to scan all mail the same day.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme Business Account keeps the company's details in one place, and the Compliance agent can prepare reminders for the 14-day CAC and 30-day tax deadlines. Read more on how the agents work.

Questions people ask

Can my Nigerian company use a PO box as its registered address?

No. Section 728 does not allow a post office box.

Can my company's registered office be outside Nigeria?

No. CAMA 2020 requires the registered office to be in Nigeria.

Which CAC form changes the registered address?
