2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United Kingdom

Getting a Nigeria police certificate from the UK

Two routes to a Nigerian police clearance while living in the UK: the High Commission's Police Criminal Check and the POSSAP portal. Documents and fees.

The short answer

From the UK there are two routes. The Nigeria High Commission London runs a Police Criminal Check by registered post or in person, for £15 plus a £30 processing fee by postal order as at October 2026. The Nigeria Police also take police character certificate applications online through the POSSAP portal, with the fee paid on an invoice generated there and a stated minimum processing time of 72 hours.

A UK employer, licensing body, immigration application or another country's embassy may ask for a police certificate from every country you have lived in, Nigeria included. Getting one from abroad used to mean sending someone to Abuja. In 2026 there are two routes worth knowing, and they suit different people.

Route 1: the High Commission's Police Criminal Check

The Nigeria High Commission London's consular page, read in October 2026, lists a Police Criminal Check (Police Clearance). You can submit by registered post with a self-addressed registered envelope, or in person. It asks for:

  1. Three copies of your Nigerian passport, including the detailed data pages.
  2. Three copies of the pages showing your current UK visa.
  3. Three passport-sized photographs.
  4. Three copies of the completed data form (the Good Conduct Application Form, downloadable from the page).
ItemFee as at Oct 2026Payment
Document£15Postal order
Processing£30Postal order
Total£45Two postal orders, non-refundable

The page also says to apply via the online portal and that a £20 administrative charge applies to consular services generally; it does not say whether that is added on top of the £45. Ask the consular section (consular@nigeriahc.org.uk, 0207 556 8110) before you buy the postal orders. Submissions in person are taken between 9am and 1pm at Nigeria House, 9 Northumberland Avenue, London WC2N 5BX.

Worked example

Example only: Chinedu, in Bristol, needs a Nigerian clearance for a UK nursing regulator. He buys a £15 and a £30 postal order, so £45 in High Commission fees, and confirms by email whether the £20 consular charge is added, which would make it £65. He sends three passport copies, three copies of his visa pages, three photos and three signed data forms by registered post with a self-addressed registered envelope, and keeps the receipts. The Post Office's own postal order and postage charges are on top.

Common reasons for delay

  • Photos that are not recent or not passport-standard.
  • Copies of an expired visa instead of the current one.
  • A data form left unsigned or with a name spelt differently from the passport.
  • Postal orders made out to the wrong payee; the page says Nigeria High Commission London.

Route 2: POSSAP

The Police Specialised Services Automation Project (POSSAP) is the Nigeria Police Force's online platform for services including the police character certificate. Leadership's guide of 30 July 2026 describes it like this:

  • Applications are made on the POSSAP portal (possap.gov.ng).
  • The form asks for ID type and number, full name, phone, email, gender, state, LGA and residential address.
  • A one-time, non-refundable application and processing fee applies per request, paid only on POSSAP using the invoice it generates; no extra fee is payable at police formations for biometric capture or collection.
  • Applicants living in Nigeria must appear in person at their chosen police command on the appointment date for biometrics.
  • Processing takes a minimum of 72 hours.

What the article does not cover is how someone outside Nigeria completes the biometric step. If you choose POSSAP, check on the portal whether an overseas option exists, or ask the High Commission whether it captures fingerprints for POSSAP applications. The Nigeria-side detail is in police character certificate in Nigeria: POSSAP steps and fee.

Which route to use

High Commission check
You hold a Nigerian passport and current UK visa and want a paper process from London.
POSSAP
You can attend a police command in Nigeria, or the portal confirms an overseas option; useful if the requester wants a Nigeria Police-issued certificate specifically.
Either
Ask the body requesting the certificate which issuer it accepts and how recent it must be.

Making it usable

  • Check the name on the certificate matches your passport exactly.
  • Ask whether the requester wants the certificate authenticated. Nigerian documents are authenticated through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, then at the High Commission; see our guide to High Commission authentication.
  • Note the issue date. Many requesters want a certificate issued within a recent period; plan the timing around your application.

For the reverse case, a UK record for a job in Nigeria, see ACRO police certificates for a Nigerian employer.

Where Pryme fits

Fees on the Nigerian side are charged in naira. A Pryme Personal Account holds NGN alongside GBP, so you can convert when you choose with Swap; the rate and fee are shown before you approve.
