Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

Moniepoint loan interest rate and repayment explained

How Moniepoint prices personal and business loans as published, how weekly repayment from your account works, and a worked total-cost example.

The short answer

Moniepoint does not publish a single loan interest rate: its support pages say rates vary by product, a management fee applies, and the terms are shown in the app before you accept, as at February 2026. Repayment is deducted from your Moniepoint account daily or weekly over 12 to 24 weeks for business loans, and early repayment is allowed.

Which Moniepoint loans exist

Moniepoint is best known for payment terminals and business accounts, and most of its lending has been to merchants. Its support pages, last updated 9 February 2026, list working capital loans, overdrafts and a consumer loan for businesses, and say that personal loans have been introduced for customers with an active Moniepoint Personal account. If you are not sure which applies to you, see Moniepoint personal loan: does it exist and how it works.

How Moniepoint states the price

The support pages do not give a rate or a fee amount. They say working capital and overdraft products have varying interest rates, that there are management fees, and that specific limits and terms are given during the application. In practice that means the loan screen in the app is the only place your rate appears. Before accepting, look for:

  • The amount you will receive, after any fee deducted at payout
  • The interest or charge for the term, as a percentage and in naira
  • The management fee
  • The repayment amount, how often it is taken and how many repayments there are
  • The total you will repay

If the screen gives a rate without saying whether it covers the whole term, a week or a month, ask Moniepoint support before accepting. The difference between 5% for the term and 5% a month on a 24-week loan is more than five times the interest.

Repayment from your account

Moniepoint says repayments are automated and deducted directly from your Moniepoint account, with daily or weekly frequencies offered and fortnightly and monthly options planned. You can also repay manually in the app. Two practical points follow:

Keep the balance ready
If the deduction day arrives and the account is short, check the loan screen to see what is outstanding and pay it manually as soon as money comes in.
Weekly versus daily
Weekly deductions give more breathing room for personal budgets; daily suits steady business takings. Choose where the app gives a choice.
Early repayment
Moniepoint says it is allowed. Ask whether interest is reduced when you repay early, or whether the term charge is fixed.
Missed payments
Moniepoint says they might negatively impact your credit rating.

For the support routes if a deduction looks wrong, see Moniepoint loan repayment and customer care.

Getting an offer and what shapes the amount

Moniepoint's pages give a few rules that decide whether a loan screen appears at all. For business loans, the account must have been active for at least six weeks and be used for all business transactions. No documents are normally needed, except a CAC document or a shop rent receipt if business verification fails. Processing takes 24 to 72 hours, sometimes less. The amount offered depends on business type and creditworthiness, which in practice means the money flowing through the account and your record with credit bureaus. A low first offer is not a judgement on your business; regular use of the account and on-time repayment are what move it. If you see no offer, why Moniepoint loans are declined explains the usual reasons.

Worked example: ₦300,000 over 24 weeks, repaid weekly

The charge and fee are illustrative, not Moniepoint's.

ItemAmount
Loan amount₦300,000
Management fee, illustrative 1%, deducted at payout₦3,000, so ₦297,000 reaches you
Charge for the term, illustrative 15% flat₦45,000
Total repayable₦345,000
Weekly deduction over 24 weeks₦14,375
Total cost₦48,000

As a share of the ₦297,000 you received, ₦48,000 is about 16.2% over 24 weeks. Because a slice of principal returns every week, your average balance is roughly half the loan, so the cost relative to money actually in use is about double that. Compare offers on total cost and on the deduction you can carry each week. Our explainer on APR versus flat fees shows how.

What to check first

  1. Confirm whether you are being offered a personal or a business product.
  2. Note the charge, its period and the management fee in naira.
  3. Note the deduction, its frequency and the number of deductions.
  4. Check that the weekly or daily amount fits your income in a slow week.
  5. Ask whether early repayment reduces the charge.

Where Pryme fits

For spending at grocery, pharmacy or transport merchants, Loans on Spaces is an alternative: Solid Allianze MFB may offer a limit, the full agreement is shown, and you accept before anything is drawn. It is spent only with Spaces merchants.
