Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to apply for a Moniepoint business loan as a merchant

Moniepoint's stated rules for business loans: six weeks of active use, how to apply in the app or web, documents, tenure and repayment.

The short answer

Moniepoint says a business owner can apply for a loan after having an active Moniepoint Business account for at least six weeks and using it consistently for business transactions. You apply in the Moniepoint mobile or web app by tapping the Loan icon and choosing a loan type; no documents are usually required, tenures run from 12 to 24 weeks, and repayments are deducted from your Business account, according to Moniepoint Support as at October 2026.

Who Moniepoint business loans are for

Moniepoint is used by a great many Nigerian merchants and POS agents to take card and transfer payments. Its business loans are built on that: because the money you collect passes through your Moniepoint Business account, Moniepoint can see your trading pattern and use it to decide what to offer. Its support pages describe Working Capital and Overdraft products, each with its own interest rates.

Moniepoint's eligibility page sets out the starting rule plainly. Business owners need to have had an active Moniepoint business account for at least six weeks and to use it consistently for business transactions. Personal accounts are a separate matter; Moniepoint personal loans explained covers those.

What Moniepoint says you need

ItemWhat Moniepoint Support says (Oct 2026)
AccountAn active Moniepoint Business account, held for at least six weeks
UsageConsistent use for business transactions
DocumentsNot required, except a CAC document or shop rent receipt if business verification fails
Where to applyMoniepoint mobile app or web app
Loan amountDepends on business type and creditworthiness; shown during the application
Tenure12 to 24 weeks, depending on the product
RepaymentDeducted from the Business account; manual repayment in the app also possible; daily and weekly schedules

The support page also says bi-weekly and monthly repayment options are planned. Check the app for what is available when you apply.

Steps to apply

  1. Log in to your Moniepoint Business account on the mobile app or the web app.
  2. Tap the Loan icon.
  3. Choose the loan type offered to you, such as working capital or overdraft.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps. If the app cannot verify your business, upload your CAC document or a shop rent receipt.
  5. Review the amount offered, the interest, the repayment frequency and the tenure.
  6. Accept if the daily or weekly repayment fits your takings. The funds go to your Business account.

Planning repayments around your takings

Daily and weekly repayments are taken from the same account your customers pay into. That makes repaying easier to forget about, and also easier to under-plan for: on a slow day the deduction still comes. Here is an example with illustrative numbers, not Moniepoint's rates, which are covered in Moniepoint business loan interest.

Example lineFigure
Working capital loan₦500,000
Interest, 4% per month flat for 3 months (about 12 weeks)₦60,000
Total repayable₦560,000
Weekly repayment over 12 weeksabout ₦46,667
Daily equivalent over 6 trading daysabout ₦7,778

If your account usually takes in ₦60,000 a day, a ₦7,778 daily deduction is about 13% of takings, before stock and rent. Run the same sum on your quietest week of the year, not your busiest. Comparing flat and reducing-balance pricing is covered in APR versus flat fees.

Improving your chances

  • Route all your business takings through the Business account, not split across several providers.
  • Keep the business details on the account accurate so verification passes without extra documents.
  • Repay any earlier Moniepoint facility on time.
  • Keep personal and business money separate, so the account reads clearly as a business.

If you are turned down, Moniepoint loan declined: reasons and what to do goes through the next steps, and Moniepoint loan repayment and customer care covers support.

Working capital or overdraft?

Moniepoint Support refers to two kinds of facility, Working Capital and Overdraft, with varying interest rates. A working capital loan is a set amount paid out once and repaid on a schedule over its term, which Moniepoint gives as 12 to 24 weeks depending on the product. An overdraft lets you draw on a limit as you need it. The first suits a planned purchase, such as a bulk order of stock before a festive season. The second suits uneven gaps, such as paying a supplier on Monday when your customers pay you through the week.

Whichever you choose, the decision rests on the same question: will the extra stock or sales it pays for bring in more than the loan costs? If you are not sure, borrow less and see how the first cycle goes. A loan repaid on time is also the record Moniepoint can see when you apply again.

Keeping records

Save the offer screen and download statements showing each deduction. If a deduction looks wrong, those records are what Moniepoint support will need to check it. Moniepoint's loan pages note that you can also repay manually in the app, which helps if you want to clear the balance early.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not make business loans. Merchants in Spaces sectors with a Pryme Business Account can join Spaces, where shoppers pay using Loans on Spaces lent to them by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank.

Questions people ask

How long before I can get a Moniepoint business loan?

Moniepoint Support says you need an active Moniepoint Business account for at least six weeks, used consistently for business transactions.

Does Moniepoint loan require documents?

Generally no, according to Moniepoint Support. You may be asked for a CAC document or shop rent receipt if business verification fails.

How is Moniepoint loan repaid?

Repayments are deducted from your Moniepoint Business account on daily or weekly schedules, or you can repay manually in the app.

How much can I borrow from Moniepoint?

Moniepoint says the maximum depends on your business type and creditworthiness and is shown during the application. It does not publish a fixed limit.
