Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Micro-task apps in Nigeria: which pay out

Task and crowd-work platforms checked in October 2026: published pay rates, whether they were taking sign-ups, and the withdrawal routes they list.

The short answer

Of the task-style platforms we checked in October 2026, GoTranscript (up to $1.75 per audio minute, paid weekly by PayPal or Payoneer), Cambly ($0.17 a minute) and Preply publish pay terms and payout routes, though GoTranscript and Cambly were limiting new sign-ups. We could not verify that Clickworker, Toloka, Remotasks or Appen currently accept Nigerian accounts, so check each one's own terms before investing time.

Micro-task and crowd-work platforms pay for short pieces of work: transcribing audio, tagging images, rating search results, testing apps or holding short conversations. Lists of such apps circulate widely in Nigeria, often copied from older posts, and many name platforms that have closed, paused hiring or never paid Nigerian users. This guide reports only what we could check on the platforms' own pages in October 2026, and says plainly where we could not.

What we checked

PlatformType of workPublished payPayout routes listedSign-up status, Oct 2026
GoTranscriptTranscriptionUp to $1.75 per audio minutePayPal or Payoneer, weekly on Fridays; options depend on regionPage said it was not accepting new transcribers and offered a waitlist; also says "We hire worldwide"
CamblyEnglish conversation by the minute$0.17 a minute ($10.20 an hour); Cambly Kids $0.20 a minuteWeekly, "via direct deposit and more"Temporarily limiting new tutor sign-ups; eligible countries not stated
PreplyTutoring lessonsTutor sets the hourly rate; Preply takes 100% of a trial lesson with a new student, then 33% falling to 18%PayPal, Payoneer, Skrill, TransferwiseProfile review within three business days; tutor-country eligibility not stated
UpworkSmall fixed-price or hourly tasksClient sets the price; Upwork's service fee is shown on each contractDirect to Local Bank $0.99 per withdrawal; Nigeria limit listed as $3,000; Payoneer; wire $50Open, with identity verification
FiverrSmall gigs you listYou set the price; Fiverr deducts its fee before payoutBank via Payoneer $1, Payoneer account $3, PayPalOpen; withdrawal methods may have location limits

Upwork and Fiverr are not micro-task apps in the strict sense, but many Nigerians use them for small tasks such as a single logo or a short data-entry job, and both document how they pay.

What we could not confirm

We did not open current pages for Clickworker, Toloka, Remotasks, Appen or Amazon Mechanical Turk, so we cannot say whether they accept new Nigerian workers, what they pay or how they pay out today. Treat any list that states these confidently without a date with caution. Before you sign up, check on the platform's own site:

  1. The list of countries where workers can register.
  2. Published pay per task or per hour, and how it is calculated.
  3. Payout methods, minimum payout and fees.
  4. Whether identity documents from Nigeria are accepted.
  5. Recent independent reports of payment, with dates.

How the money reaches you

Most platforms pay in dollars through PayPal, Payoneer or a direct bank transfer. Each route has its own fee and timing: Upwork's Direct to Local Bank costs $0.99 per withdrawal and arrives within four business days, while Fiverr's table lists a $1 fee for a bank transfer via Payoneer and $3 to a Payoneer account. PayPal is the payout GoTranscript and Preply both list, but receiving into a Nigerian PayPal account has long been difficult, so confirm the route works for you before you start. Withdrawing less often, in larger amounts, keeps fixed fees down.

Worked example: what a transcriber keeps

Example only, at GoTranscript's published maximum of $1.75 per audio minute, which not every worker earns: 60 audio minutes a week earns up to $105. If transcribing one audio minute takes four minutes of work, that is four hours, or up to $26.25 an hour before any fees. At a lower hypothetical rate of $0.60 per audio minute, the same four hours earn $36, or $9 an hour.

Warning signs on task apps

  • A fee to join, train or reach higher-paying tasks. The FTC's job-scams guidance says honest employers never ask you to pay to get a job.
  • Pay only in an in-app token you cannot withdraw.
  • Tasks that involve receiving money and sending it on, which the FTC warns is a common fake-job pattern.
  • No named company, address or terms page.

For more on spotting fake online work, see online data entry jobs: real versus scam, and for transcription in detail, transcription jobs for Nigerians.

Is it worth it?

Task work suits people who want flexible hours and can accept unsteady volume. Pay per hour is usually below skilled freelancing, and platform sign-up pauses are common. Task work can also be a stepping stone. Transcription builds typing speed and careful listening, conversation tutoring builds confidence with foreign clients, and small Upwork or Fiverr tasks build reviews. Treat the first months as paid practice, keep a record of what you did, and move towards skilled work when the reviews allow. Compare it with the routes in how much survey apps pay and making money with a laptop.

Where Pryme fits

When a platform pays to a bank account in dollars, a Pryme Personal Account provides local USD account details, and the money stays in USD until you choose to convert with Swap. See multicurrency accounts.

Questions people ask

Which micro-task apps pay Nigerians?

Of those we checked in October 2026, GoTranscript, Cambly and Preply publish pay and payout routes, though GoTranscript and Cambly were limiting sign-ups. Upwork and Fiverr also pay for small tasks.

Does Remotasks work in Nigeria?

We could not verify its current status for Nigerian workers in October 2026. Check its own site for eligible countries before signing up.

How do micro-task sites pay in Nigeria?

Usually in dollars by PayPal, Payoneer or bank transfer. Upwork's Direct to Local Bank costs $0.99 per withdrawal; Fiverr lists $1 for a bank transfer via Payoneer.

Should I pay to join a task app?

No. The FTC says honest employers never ask you to pay to get work; a joining fee is a warning sign.
