Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Minimum wage by state in Nigeria: which states pay more

Which Nigerian states announced minimum wages above the national ₦70,000, with figures, dates and caveats on who they actually cover.

The short answer

The national minimum wage is ₦70,000 a month under the 2024 amendment signed on 29 July 2024. Several states announced higher figures for their own workers: Nairametrics' April 2026 roundup lists Imo at ₦104,000, Ebonyi at ₦90,000, Lagos and Rivers at ₦85,000, and Enugu, Oyo, Niger, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa at ₦80,000. These state figures cover state (and in some cases local government) employees, not private employers.

After the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024 raised the floor from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000, each state government had to decide what to pay its own workforce. Some matched ₦70,000; others announced more. The list below is the most complete we could verify, built mainly on Nairametrics' state-by-state roundup published on 1 May 2026 (reflecting announcements to 30 April 2026), cross-checked against original reports where we had them.

States above ₦70,000

StateMinimum wageDate or status reportedWho it covers (as reported)
Imo₦104,000October 2025, payment commencedWorkers
Ebonyi₦90,000Announced 27 Aug 2025, immediate effectCivil servants

Benue₦75,000November 2024Some categories; report is inconsistent
Ondo₦73,000November 2024State civil servants
Kogi₦72,500October 2024State civil servants
Kaduna₦72,000Phased from October 2025Some categories only
Gombe₦71,451.15Ordered April 2026, full from May 2026State and LG employees
Kano₦71,000Effective November 2024Civil servants
Nasarawa₦70,500Reported paid December 2024Civil servants

Most remaining states are listed at ₦70,000, with some reported as still completing implementation in 2026. Nairametrics notes that Zamfara had signed an agreement but had no evidence of full implementation by April 2026.

Original reports we cross-checked

  • Enugu: the Federal Ministry of Information's portal reported on 25 October 2024 that Governor Mbah approved ₦80,000 from October 2024, cascading to local government workers.
  • Oyo: Channels TV reported on 6 November 2024 that the governor announced ₦80,000, to be implemented after consequential adjustments. Nairametrics gives January 2025 as the effective date.
  • Kano: TheCable reported on 29 October 2024 that Governor Abba Yusuf approved ₦71,000 for civil servants, effective November 2024.

Federal workers

Federal workers are not on any state figure. Their floor is the bottom of the federal salary tables NSIWC revised from 29 July 2024. On CONPSS, GL01 step 1 is ₦930,000 a year, which is ₦77,500 a month, above the national ₦70,000. So a federal cleaner or messenger in Lagos and a Lagos State worker on the same duties are paid on different scales, by different governments.

What a state minimum wage does and does not mean

  • It is the state government's own floor. It applies to the state's public service and, where stated, local government workers.
  • Private employers follow the national figure. A shop in Lagos is bound by the national ₦70,000 under the federal Act, subject to the Act's exemptions, not the state's ₦85,000.
  • It is the bottom of the scale. Workers above the minimum usually receive consequential adjustments that differ by grade, and some states paid those later than the minimum itself.
  • Announced is not paid. Several entries are announcements with phased or delayed implementation.

Worked example: what the difference is worth

Example only. A state worker on Lagos's ₦85,000 earns ₦15,000 a month, or ₦180,000 a year, more than the national floor. Imo's ₦104,000 is ₦34,000 a month above it. At these levels, annual pay is below ₦1.2 million, the gross income level that Premium Times' summary of the new tax laws (via AllAfrica) says is exempt from personal income tax, so the difference is not reduced by PAYE.

What to check first

  1. Your state's latest circular or the head of service's announcement.
  2. Whether consequential adjustments for your grade have been paid, not just the minimum.
  3. Arrears from the effective date.
  4. For private-sector jobs, the national ₦70,000 and whether your employer is exempt; see who must pay ₦70,000.

Where Pryme fits

On a minimum-wage salary, small fixed amounts matter. Our guide to budgeting ₦70,000 is a practical start, and a Naira Savings Box can hold even a small weekly amount. For background, see the minimum wage history.
