Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She holds dollars, pounds, euros and Naira side by side, swaps at a locked rate, pays bills in any of them and sends anywhere, asking before anything moves.

We give you a limit to spend at the shops and services you already use — and an account that works on your month while you get on with it. Dollars, pounds and euros sit beside your Naira, and an assistant handles the running of it, asking you first every single time.

You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Why most Nigerian loan apps turn down students without income, the age and affordability rules behind it, and what students can use instead.
Most loan apps in Nigeria decline students because they lend only to adults and must check that a borrower can repay: the FCCPC's 2025 digital lending regulations require lenders to assess repayment capacity before granting credit. A student with no regular income usually fails that test, whatever their age. For fees, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) is built for students; for small day-to-day gaps, a budget, family support on clear terms or part-time income is safer than an app.
Search any app store and you will find adverts promising loans to students. Most will not lend to a student who has no income, and the few that appear to will often do so on terms that make a small shortfall much larger. Knowing why helps you avoid wasted applications and the riskier corners of the market.
Lenders lend to adults. A loan agreement has to be enforceable, so lenders set a minimum age in their terms, commonly 18. Banks publish theirs: Stanbic IBTC's loan FAQ, for example, gives an age range of 18 to 59 (as at Oct 2026). Many first-year students are under 18 and cannot borrow in their own name at all. Using a parent's or friend's BVN to get round this is not a workaround: the loan, and any default, belongs to the person whose identity was used, and the lender may treat it as fraud.
The bigger obstacle is income. Under the FCCPC's Digital, Electronic, Online, or Non-Traditional Consumer Lending Regulations 2025, a lender must assess a consumer's repayment capability and creditworthiness before granting credit. The Commission said on 20 July 2026 that it had resumed enforcing the regulations after a court ruling. Apps meet that duty by reading your bank statement: they want to see regular inflows that can carry a repayment. A student account with an allowance from home and irregular small transfers rarely qualifies.
Two other rules shape the market. Google Play's financial services policy bars personal loan apps from requiring full repayment within 60 days or less, and from accessing your contacts and photos. Nigerian lenders on Google Play must show an FCCPC approval. An app that wants your contacts, or demands repayment in a week, is outside those rules.
| Need | Realistic option | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition and school charges | NELFUND student loan | Paid towards fees and upkeep; repayment is deferred until after NYSC. See student loans compared |
| Upkeep and living costs | NELFUND upkeep element, family support, part-time work | Write down any family loan's amount and repayment date |
| A small emergency | Your school's welfare or hardship office, a written arrangement with family | Ask before borrowing from an app |
| Student with a job or steady freelance income | A registered digital lender may consider you | Check the FCCPC register and the total repayable |
If you do have steady income, such as a part-time salary or freelance payments arriving monthly, a registered lender may assess you like any other applicant. Borrow only what that income can repay comfortably, and check the lender on the FCCPC approved list first.
A short app loan with a flat fee looks cheap in naira. A ₦10,000 loan with a ₦1,500 fee repaid in two weeks is an example of how the arithmetic works: that fee is 15% for two weeks, which is far more as a monthly or yearly rate. Students who repay one app by borrowing from another can turn a small gap into several debts within a term, each reported to the credit bureaus.
Being turned down now is not wasted time. Keep one main account, let your allowance and any part-time pay land there, and avoid going overdrawn or bouncing debits. When you start NYSC or your first job, that history, plus a clean credit report, is what earns you a reasonable first offer. The Credit Reporting Act 2017 entitles you to a free report from each bureau every year, so you can check nothing has been opened in your name.
If an app harasses you or your contacts, the FCCPC takes complaints; our guide to loan app harassment and your rights explains how to report it.
For students the most useful tool is a budget, not a loan. A Pryme Personal Account includes a Personal Assistant (named Eva by default) that helps plan allowances, bills and reminders, preparing everything for you to approve. See budgeting as a student with an assistant.
Only if they are adults with regular income the app can see. Lenders must assess repayment capacity under the FCCPC's 2025 regulations, so students without income are usually declined.
Lenders set their own minimum, commonly 18. Stanbic IBTC's FAQ, for example, gives 18 to 59 for its loans (Oct 2026). Check each app's terms.
For tuition and upkeep, the NELFUND student loan, which defers repayment until after NYSC. Apps are built for short gaps and are costly.
No. The loan would be in their name and could be treated as fraud. If a parent wants to help, they should borrow or lend openly.
