Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

LAPO customer care, repayment and complaints

How LAPO Microfinance Bank loan repayments are scheduled and recorded, what a missed payment means, and how to complain and escalate to the CBN.

The short answer

LAPO Microfinance Bank loans are repaid on the schedule written in your loan agreement or repayment card, through your LAPO branch, credit officer or account, and each payment should be recorded with a receipt. If you miss payments, LAPO can apply the charges in your agreement, recover from savings held as security and report you to credit bureaus. Complain to your branch manager first, then LAPO head office, then the CBN.

How LAPO repayment is organised

LAPO Microfinance Bank lends mainly to traders, artisans and small business owners, many through groups. Its loans differ from app loans in one important way: repayment is tied to a schedule agreed at disbursement, often handled with a credit officer and a branch, rather than a single due date in an app. We could not verify LAPO's current product list, rates or repayment frequencies on an official page for this guide, so the details below describe what to look for in your own documents.

Repayment schedule
The dates and amounts in your loan agreement or repayment card. Frequency varies by product.
Security deposit or savings
Many microfinance loans require compulsory savings held while the loan runs; your agreement says whether the bank can apply it to arrears.
Group guarantee
In group loans, members may be asked to cover a member who falls behind, under the group's terms.
Credit officer
The LAPO staff member who manages your loan. They should always issue a receipt or record the payment.

How to make repayments safely

  • Pay into a LAPO account or at a LAPO branch, and get a receipt or a passbook entry every time.
  • If you pay a credit officer in cash at a group meeting, make sure the payment is entered on the group record and your card, and ask for a receipt.
  • Never pay into a personal account a staff member gives you. If someone asks you to, report it to the branch manager.
  • Check your balance with the branch at least once a month so mistakes are caught early.

Worked example (illustrative figures only)

Suppose a ₦300,000 business loan over six months carries a flat charge of 3% a month and must be repaid weekly, figures assumed only to show the arithmetic. The charge is ₦300,000 × 3% × 6 = ₦54,000, so ₦354,000 is repaid over 26 weeks, about ₦13,615 a week. If 10% of the loan, ₦30,000, is held as compulsory savings, you receive the use of ₦270,000 while paying charges on ₦300,000, which makes the real cost higher than the headline 3%. Ask LAPO how it works out your actual cost; LAPO's interest rate explains the terms.

If you miss repayments

Tell your credit officer or branch as soon as you know you will be short. In microfinance, missed repayments can lead to:

  1. late charges set out in your agreement;
  2. the bank applying your compulsory savings to the arrears, where the agreement allows;
  3. group members being asked to cover the shortfall in a group loan;
  4. the arrears being reported to credit bureaus, which affects later loans from any lender;
  5. recovery action, which should follow the agreement and be carried out lawfully.

Ask in writing for a revised schedule if your income has fallen, and get the new dates on paper. If recovery staff threaten you, seize goods without process or shame you publicly, record what happened and complain.

LAPO customer care and complaints

We could not verify LAPO's helpline numbers or email from an official page for this review. Use the contact details printed on your loan documents, at your branch or on LAPO Microfinance Bank's official website, reached by typing the address yourself.

StepWhoWhat to bring
1Your credit officer or branch managerRepayment card, receipts, loan agreement
2LAPO head office customer service, in writingCopy of your branch complaint and its date
3CBN consumer protectionLAPO's reply or proof it did not reply

LAPO is a CBN-licensed microfinance bank, so the CBN is the regulator to escalate to; you can confirm its licence on the CBN's list of microfinance banks. The FCCPC's 2025 digital lending regulations send disputes to the FCCPC only where there is no applicable sector regulator. Our guide to complaining about a bank in Nigeria explains the CBN process, and LAPO loans explained covers the products.

What to check first

  1. Your loan agreement: the amount, the charge, the schedule and what happens to compulsory savings.
  2. Your repayment card or passbook, against your own record of payments.
  3. The name and phone number of your credit officer and branch manager.
  4. Whether your group has its own rules on covering members who fall behind.
  5. The date your loan ends, so you know when your savings should be released.

When the loan is fully repaid, ask the branch for written confirmation and for the release of any compulsory savings held as security. Do not assume it happens without a request.

If a credit officer leaves LAPO or moves branch, ask the branch who now manages your loan and confirm your balance with them before the next payment.

Where Pryme fits

A business with a Pryme Business Account can send invoices and keep records of payments received, which helps when showing a lender your trading history; see invoicing.

Questions people ask

How do I repay my LAPO loan?

Follow the schedule in your loan agreement or repayment card, paying at a LAPO branch, into your LAPO account or to your credit officer, and get a receipt each time.

What happens if I miss LAPO repayments?

Late charges may apply, compulsory savings can be applied to arrears where the agreement allows, group members may be asked to cover it, and you can be reported to credit bureaus.

What is LAPO customer care number?

We could not verify it for this guide. Use the numbers on your loan documents, at your branch or on LAPO's official website.

How do I report LAPO to CBN?

Complain to your branch and LAPO head office first, in writing. If unresolved, escalate to the CBN's consumer protection department with copies.
