Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Lost phone: recovering your Kuda account

Lost or stolen phone? Block Kuda from another device, replace your SIM, then sign in on the new phone with a face check or Safety Mode.

The short answer

If your phone is lost or stolen, block your Kuda account from another device at selfhelp.kuda.com or by calling 0700 022 555 832, then sign in on a new phone with your email and password. Kuda then either asks for a short video face check or puts the account in Safety Mode for 72 hours, with lower limits and OTPs, according to its Help Centre (Oct 2026).

Step one: block the account, not just the SIM

Whoever has your phone may also have your SIM, and with it any SMS codes. Kuda's "Block your account" page (August 2026) gives a route that does not need the app:

  1. On a trusted device, go to selfhelp.kuda.com.
  2. Tap Block My Account.
  3. Sign in with your Kuda email and password.
  4. Choose the account to block, tap Continue, then Block Account.

Blocking restricts transfers, airtime, bill payments, cardless debits and other outgoing transactions. It does not close the account; Kuda's page lists only outgoing transactions as restricted. If the self-help page will not work, Kuda lists help@kuda.com, 0700 022 555 832 and in-app chat. Block your Kuda card as well if it was in the same bag; Kuda says a missing card should be blocked straight away.

Next, ask your mobile network to block and replace the SIM. Our guide on what to do when a phone is stolen covers the network side and your other bank apps.

Step two: sign in on the new phone

Install the latest Kuda app and sign in with your email address and password, not the 6-digit passcode, which belonged to the old device. What happens next depends on whether the newer check is available to you.

Route A: the face check

Kuda's "Using Kuda on a new device" page, updated October 2026, describes a video face check. If you see "Verify your new device", tap Verify Now and record a short video; Kuda compares it with your identity photo. Once confirmed, you can use the account straight away without Safety Mode. Points from Kuda's FAQ:

  • You get three attempts in total; only a face that does not match uses one.
  • You do not need the old phone.
  • If Kuda holds no identity photo for you, it asks for a one-time code instead.
  • It is being introduced in stages, so not everyone sees it yet.
  • It does not remove Safety Mode if your account is already in it.

Route B: Safety Mode

Without the face check, Kuda's Safety Mode switches on when you sign in from a new device. For 72 hours you need an OTP after your PIN or fingerprint to pay, order a card or view card details, and you cannot change your transaction PIN. Kuda's page (May 2025) says you can still transfer up to ₦50,000 per day and per transaction and pay bills or airtime up to ₦10,000 per day and per transaction. It ends after 72 hours, after ten transactions within the limits in one day, or through support.

If you used a passkey

Kuda passkeys live on your phone and can sync through iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager. Kuda says that if the passkey was saved to the cloud, you can restore it on the new phone. If it was not, email help@kuda.com or send an in-app message, because the face check does not replace passkey recovery.

If you also lost your phone number

OTPs go to the number on your profile. If you get a replacement SIM on the same number, nothing changes. If you need a new number, Kuda says you can change it in the app only when your BVN is linked, the new number is the one on your BVN record and it is not on another Kuda account; otherwise chat with support. Update the number on your BVN at your bank first if needed.

Check for damage

  • Read your transaction history for anything you did not make; report it from the transaction or at selfhelp.kuda.com.
  • Change your password and transaction PIN once Safety Mode has ended.
  • Remove the old device's passkey through support if you cannot reach the device.
  • Kuda says that when you report a suspected scam it locks the account temporarily while it investigates, so expect a short delay.

For fraud by SIM replacement specifically, see SIM swap fraud in Nigeria. Kuda's security settings are worth reviewing on the new phone.

Using your money while things are restricted

Two details from Kuda's pages help if you need to pay for something while sorting out access. First, Safety Mode does not restrict your Kuda card: its page says you can "use your Kuda card freely" with no spending limits while the app-side limits apply. Second, Safety Mode still lets you make small transfers and bill payments within its limits, so day-to-day spending can continue while it runs.

A full account block is different. Once you block the account, outgoing transfers, airtime, bills and cardless debits stop until support lifts the restriction after checking your identity. If your card was not with the phone, consider blocking only the card in the app later rather than leaving the whole account blocked longer than needed. Kuda does not publish how long unblocking takes, so contact support early, by email from an address you can prove is yours, and keep a note of times and names.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme uses an authenticator app rather than SMS codes, so a stolen SIM alone does not give access to sign-in codes. See Pryme security.

Questions people ask

How do I block my Kuda account if my phone is stolen?

Go to selfhelp.kuda.com on another device, tap Block My Account and sign in, or call 0700 022 555 832 or email help@kuda.com.

How do I log in to Kuda on a new phone?

Sign in with your email and password. Kuda then asks for a video face check or applies Safety Mode for 72 hours.

What are the Kuda Safety Mode limits?

Kuda says ₦50,000 per day and per transaction for transfers and ₦10,000 for airtime and bills, for 72 hours (page updated May 2025).

Can I recover Kuda without my old SIM?

Yes, sign-in uses email and password. To change the phone number itself, the new number must match your BVN record or you must contact support.
