Ten years, one trunk

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

How to fund a Kuda account: transfer, card and more

Bank transfer, card, cash at a partner bank or USSD from five banks: every way to add money to Kuda, what each costs and how fast it lands.

The short answer

You can fund a Kuda account by bank transfer from any Nigerian bank (free), by debit card once the account is upgraded (a payment gateway fee may apply), by cash deposit at a partner bank, or by USSD from First Bank, GTBank, Wema, Zenith or Access, according to Kuda's Help Centre (Oct 2026). Card funding is not available in the first 24 hours after an account is opened.

The four ways in

MethodCost per KudaConditions
Bank transferFreeYour tier's receiving limit applies
Debit or credit cardPayment gateway fee may apply (see below)Account must be upgraded; not in first 24 hours
Cash depositFree per KudaAt a partner bank branch chosen in the app
USSD from another bankKuda lists no fee; your bank may chargeDial from the phone number on the sending account

How each method works

Bank transfer: the default

Kuda's FAQ says you can transfer to Kuda from any Nigerian bank by app or internet banking; in the app, Add Money shows your account details to share. The sender picks Kuda Microfinance Bank (often listed as "Kuda MFB") as the bank and enters your 10-digit account number. Kuda's card-funding page says cash deposits and transfers into your account are always free. Kuda does not publish a timeframe for money arriving from another bank.

Card funding and its fee

Kuda requires an upgraded account, meaning BVN plus a government ID, before you can add money by card. The steps are Add Money > Card > Add New Card, enter the card details and amount, confirm with your card PIN and enter the OTP sent to the card's phone number.

On cost, Kuda's pages do not agree with each other. Its "Before you add money by card" page (July 2024) says the gateway fee for local cards is ₦100 plus 1.5% of the amount, and that the fee is shown before you confirm. Its general FAQ (July 2026) says card funding is free up to a total of ₦100,000, after which Kuda stops covering the gateway fee. Treat the figure on your confirmation screen as the one that applies.

Worked example, using the July 2024 rate: adding ₦20,000 by card would cost ₦100 + (1.5% × ₦20,000 = ₦300) = ₦400. The same ₦20,000 sent by bank transfer costs nothing on Kuda's side, though the sending bank may charge its own fee.

Cash and USSD

For cash, Kuda's FAQ says to tap Add Money and choose the deposit option for instructions on paying in at a partner bank. Kuda does not name the partner banks on that page; they appear in the app.

Kuda's USSD page (August 2026) lists these codes, dialled from the phone number linked to the sending account:

Sending bankCode as published by Kuda
First Bank*894*amount*Kuda account number#
GTBank*737*50*amount*416#
Wema Bank*945*Kuda account number*amount#
Zenith Bank*966*amount*Kuda account number#
Access Bank*901*amount*Kuda account number#

For Zenith and Access, Kuda says to choose Other Banks, then More, to find Kuda Microfinance Bank. You cannot send money out of Kuda by USSD; that route is funding only. The sending bank's USSD charges and limits apply.

Why a deposit might not go through

  • New account, first 24 hours. Kuda applies a CBN rule capping total inflow at ₦20,000 and blocking card funding until 24 hours after the account number is issued.
  • Tier limits. Kuda's tier table shows a Tier 1 account can receive up to ₦50,000 at a time and hold up to ₦300,000; Tier 2 can receive ₦100,000 at a time and hold ₦500,000. Larger credits wait until you upgrade.
  • Card rules. Kuda says card top-ups need an upgraded account because card payments are hard to trace and are used by fraudsters to move stolen money; fund only from cards in your own name.

If a transfer in has not arrived, see transfer to Kuda not received; for limits, see Kuda limits by tier.

Which method suits which situation

SituationSensible methodWhy
Moving salary from another bankBank transferFree on Kuda's side; no card fee
No data, basic phone, account at First Bank, GTBank, Wema, Zenith or AccessUSSDWorks without the internet from the linked phone number
Holding cash from salesCash deposit at a partner bankKuda says cash deposits are free
Urgent top-up when your other bank app is downCardQuick, but check the fee shown first
Brand-new accountBank transfer within ₦20,000Card funding is blocked for 24 hours

Whichever method you use, the money lands in the same naira balance, and the same tier limits apply. If you top up often, a regular bank transfer from your salary account on payday is the simplest habit: it costs nothing on Kuda's side and leaves a clear record on both statements.

What to check first

  • Use bank transfer for everyday top-ups; it is free on Kuda's side.
  • Upgrade to at least Tier 2 if you expect single deposits above ₦50,000.
  • Read the fee on the confirmation screen before any card top-up.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme account takes naira by transfer and also holds USD, GBP and EUR with local account details, so money from abroad can arrive in its own currency. See multicurrency accounts.

Questions people ask

How do I add money to my Kuda account?

Transfer from any Nigerian bank to your Kuda account number (bank: Kuda Microfinance Bank), or use card, cash deposit at a partner bank, or USSD from First Bank, GTBank, Wema, Zenith or Access.

Is it free to fund Kuda with a card?

Not always. Kuda's pages mention a gateway fee of ₦100 plus 1.5% for local cards and, separately, free card funding up to ₦100,000. The app shows the fee before you confirm.

Can I fund Kuda with USSD?

Yes, from First Bank, GTBank, Wema, Zenith and Access using the codes Kuda publishes. You cannot send money out of Kuda by USSD.

Why can't I fund my new Kuda account with my card?

Kuda says card funding is unavailable for the first 24 hours after an account is created, under a CBN rule for new accounts.
