Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

How to receive money from abroad into Kuda

Kuda holds naira only and has no SWIFT code, so money from abroad must arrive as naira through a transfer service. Here is how that works.

The short answer

Kuda accounts hold naira only and Kuda says it has no SWIFT code, so you cannot receive a direct international wire in dollars or pounds (Kuda FAQ, Jul 2026). Money from abroad reaches Kuda when the sender uses a remittance service that pays out in naira to Nigerian bank accounts, choosing Kuda Microfinance Bank and your 10-digit account number. Your tier's receiving limits apply.

What Kuda accepts

Kuda's FAQ (updated July 2026) is direct: "you can only send or receive money in naira with your Kuda account, so we don't have a Swift Code." For senders whose service asks for a sort code, Kuda publishes sort code 9-50211-15-1 and bank code 50211. There is no Kuda IBAN, no US routing number and no domiciliary (foreign currency) account in the Nigerian app.

So the conversion from pounds, dollars or euros into naira happens before the money reaches Kuda, at the sender's transfer service. The rate and fees are those of that service, not Kuda's.

Routes that work

1. A remittance service paying out to Nigerian banks

Many international money transfer services that serve Nigeria offer "bank deposit" as a payout option. The sender pays in their currency; the service delivers naira to the Nigerian bank account. The sender needs:

  • Your full name exactly as on the Kuda account.
  • Bank: Kuda Microfinance Bank (some lists show "Kuda MFB" or "Kuda Bank").
  • Your 10-digit Kuda account number.
  • Sometimes your phone number and the sort code above.

If Kuda is not in a service's list of payout banks, that route will not work; the sender should check before paying. Our guide to receiving money from abroad step by step explains how licensed money transfer operators pay out under CBN rules.

2. Kuda's own UK app

Kuda launched a separate UK app in November 2022 to send pounds to naira, with a flat £3 fee per transfer and transfers of up to £10,000, according to tech.eu's launch report. In October 2026 Kuda's UK help page no longer loads and kuda.com/en-gb shows the Nigerian product, so its current status is unconfirmed. See Kuda UK app: who can use it before relying on it.

3. Via a Nigerian domiciliary account

If you want to keep the foreign currency, have it sent to a domiciliary account at another Nigerian bank, then move naira to Kuda only when you decide to convert. Kuda cannot hold the dollars itself.

What to send the person paying you

Mistakes in the recipient details are a common reason remittances are delayed or returned. Send the payer a short message with exactly these fields:

Recipient name
Your name as it appears on the Kuda account, in the same order
Bank
Kuda Microfinance Bank
Account number
Your 10 digits
Sort code (if asked)
9-50211-15-1, per Kuda
Bank code (if asked)
50211, per Kuda
Currency to deliver
Naira

Ask the payer to send you the confirmation and reference once paid. If the money does not arrive, you will need it to trace the payment with the transfer service. When you need to show where money came from, for example for a visa or a landlord, request a Kuda statement for the period from the app; the credit will show the payer's service as the sender.

One more practical point: a remittance usually arrives as a single credit, so if you expect regular support from abroad, upgrading to Tier 3 once is far simpler than asking each sender to split payments to fit a lower tier.

Limits that can stop a remittance

Remittances arrive as a single credit, so tier limits bite. Kuda's tier table (August 2026) shows:

TierMax received at a timeMax balance
Tier 1 (BVN)₦50,000₦300,000
Tier 2 (BVN + NIN)₦100,000₦500,000
Tier 3 (+ verified address)UnlimitedUnlimited

Example: a relative in London sends money that converts to ₦180,000. On a Tier 2 account, that exceeds the ₦100,000 per-credit limit. Kuda's "pending or hanging transfers" page says money above your limit is held as a pending transfer until you upgrade; for amounts over ₦50,000 you need BVN plus ID or a utility bill. A brand-new account is also capped at ₦20,000 inflow for its first 24 hours.

Charges on arrival

Kuda's card-funding page says cash deposits and transfers into your account are free. The ₦50 stamp duty on payments of ₦10,000 or more is charged to the sender from 1 January 2026, per Kuda, so you should not see it deducted on an inflow. What you do pay, in effect, is the exchange-rate margin and fee of the sender's service. Compare the naira amount the recipient will receive, not just the fee; see fees on money sent from abroad.

What to check first

  • Is your Kuda account on Tier 3, or at least Tier 2, before the money is sent?
  • Does the sender's service list Kuda Microfinance Bank as a payout bank?
  • Does the name on the transfer match your Kuda account name?
  • Has the sender kept the transfer reference in case it needs tracing?

If the money was sent but has not appeared, see why foreign transfers are delayed.

Where Pryme fits

If you would rather receive pounds, dollars or euros as they are, a Pryme account holds NGN, USD, GBP and EUR with local account details for each, and you convert with Swap only when you choose. See multicurrency accounts.

Questions people ask

Does Kuda have a SWIFT code?

No. Kuda says it handles naira only and has no SWIFT code. It publishes sort code 9-50211-15-1 and bank code 50211.

Can I receive dollars in my Kuda account?

Not as dollars. The sender's service must convert to naira and pay into your Kuda account number.

Why is money from abroad pending on Kuda?

It may exceed your tier's per-credit limit (₦50,000 on Tier 1, ₦100,000 on Tier 2). Upgrading releases it.

What bank name do I give for Kuda?

Kuda Microfinance Bank, sometimes listed as Kuda MFB, with your 10-digit account number.
