Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

How to close a Kuda account

Kuda does not publish a self-service close button. How to request closure, clear overdrafts and pockets, move your balance and keep records first.

The short answer

Kuda's public help centre did not show a self-service option to close an account when we checked in October 2026, so closure is requested through Kuda support, by in-app chat (More, then Chat With Us) or on 0700 022 555 832. Before you ask, clear any overdraft, empty savings pockets and investments, move your balance to another account in your name and download a statement.

How closing a Kuda account works

Kuda's help centre at help.kuda.com has collections on accounts, security, cards, payments and more, but its index and the articles we opened in October 2026 did not include a guide to closing an account. There is a "Block your account" article, which is a security tool for freezing access when your phone or details are compromised, not a way to close the account permanently. Closure therefore goes through support, and the agent will tell you what Kuda currently needs.

Block
Temporary freeze for security; the account still exists and can be reopened.
Close
Permanent end of the banking relationship; balance must be settled first.
Dormant
An account left unused; it still exists and still holds your money.

Simply deleting the app does not close anything. Your account, balance and any overdraft remain.

Before you ask: clear everything

  1. Repay any overdraft. A negative balance must be cleared first; incoming money goes to the overdraft before you can spend. See repaying a Kuda overdraft.
  2. Empty savings pockets. Break or wait out fixed pockets and move the money into your Spend account. Check any early-withdrawal terms in the app first; our guide to Kuda fixed savings covers them.
  3. Sell or move investments. Kuda's help centre has a section on investing in US stocks; holdings there are not part of your bank balance and need their own exit.
  4. Cancel standing payments. Remove the Kuda card from subscriptions such as streaming services, and cancel scheduled transfers and bill payments.
  5. Download statements. Request a statement for the full period you may need later, for tax, visas or disputes, from Statements & Reports.
  6. Move your balance out to an account in your own name.

A worked example (illustration only)

Say you have ₦48,000 in Spend and ₦150,000 in a pocket, and you have already used your monthly free transfers. Kuda's FAQ (July 2026) gives 25 free transfers a month for customers who signed up with BVN or NIN, then ₦10 per transfer plus 7.5% VAT on that fee. Moving ₦198,000 out in one transfer costs ₦10 + ₦0.75 = ₦10.75. Splitting it into four transfers costs 4 × ₦10.75 = ₦43. One transfer, made after the pocket money is back in Spend, is cheaper.

Requesting the closure

  1. Open in-app chat and say clearly that you want to close the account, not block it.
  2. Confirm your balance is zero or ask how Kuda will pay out any small remainder.
  3. Ask what happens to your card, pockets and any linked investment account.
  4. Ask for written confirmation that the account is closed and that no amount is owed.
  5. Keep the chat transcript or a screenshot of the confirmation.

If you cannot sign in, call 0700 022 555 832. Kuda's pages give hours of 8am to 5pm on weekdays (FAQ) and 8am to 7pm on weekdays and 8am to 5pm at weekends (phone-number article). Kuda's head office, per its FAQ, is at 1-11 Commercial Avenue, beside The E-Centre, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos.

After closure

  • Tell anyone who pays you, such as an employer or clients, to stop using the Kuda number.
  • Watch your other accounts for a final payout if a balance remained.
  • Keep your statements; Kuda will not be easy to ask once the relationship ends.
  • Your BVN stays the same; closing one account does not affect your others.

If Kuda will not close the account

A bank can delay closure while an overdraft, dispute or review is outstanding. Ask in writing what is outstanding and how to clear it. If you get no answer, escalate as described in how to complain about a bank or fintech; the FCCPC also takes complaints at complaints.fccpc.gov.ng. This is general information, not legal advice.

Should you close it, or just stop using it?

Closing is final, so it is worth a moment's thought. Some people close an account because of a bad experience with one transfer, then find they need a second account months later. Others keep a dormant account and forget a small balance or an unpaid overdraft that keeps accruing. A few questions help decide:

  • Is any income, refund or payment still likely to arrive into this account? If so, wait until it has.
  • Do you owe anything, including an overdraft or a card renewal fee that may be charged later?
  • Is the account named in a visa file, tenancy agreement or loan application that may be checked later?
  • Would a block, rather than closure, solve the problem, for example if you are worried about fraud?

If you decide to keep the account but not use it, move the balance to zero and remove the card from all subscriptions, so nothing is charged while you are not watching.

Where Pryme fits

If you are moving your everyday money, a Pryme account can be opened from any country, and Naira Savings Boxes come in Flexible, Fixed, Investment and Interest-free versions, with rates shown in the app.

Questions people ask

How do I delete my Kuda account?

Kuda's help centre did not show a self-service option in October 2026. Ask Kuda support through in-app chat or by phone, after clearing your balance and any overdraft.

Can I close Kuda account with overdraft?

You should repay the overdraft first. A negative balance is a debt to Kuda and normally stops closure.

What happens to my money when I close Kuda?

Move it out first to an account in your name. Ask support how any small remaining balance will be paid.

Does deleting the Kuda app close my account?

No. The account and any balance or overdraft remain until Kuda closes it.
