Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

Keystone Bank domiciliary account: requirements

Documents, opening balance and fees for Keystone Bank's Domiciliary, Domiciliary Lite and Diaspora Current accounts, compared side by side.

The short answer

Keystone Bank's standard Domiciliary Account (USD, GBP or EUR) needs an account opening form, valid ID, proof of address, two references, BVN, a passport photo and a mandate card, with an opening deposit of 100 units of the currency and no minimum operating balance. The USD-only Domiciliary Lite needs fewer documents and no opening balance, but takes no cash deposits and limits cash withdrawals to $2,000 per transaction. Keystone lists a 0.05% cash withdrawal fee and a $25 telex charge on both.

A domiciliary account lets you hold foreign currency in a Nigerian bank. Keystone Bank offers three versions for individuals, each built for a different use. All figures below are from Keystone's personal accounts page as read in October 2026; the bank can change them, so confirm at account opening.

Documents you need

Domiciliary Account

  • Completed account opening form
  • Valid ID
  • Proof of address
  • Two references
  • BVN
  • Passport photograph
  • Mandate card

Domiciliary Lite

  • BVN
  • Simplified account opening form
  • Mandate card
  • One passport photograph
  • Valid ID

Keystone describes Domiciliary Lite as designed for receiving diaspora remittances. No references or proof of address are listed, which makes it the quickest to open if you only need to receive dollars and withdraw them.

Diaspora Current Account (for Nigerians living abroad)

  • NIDA account application form (compulsory)
  • Notarised or sighted data page of a valid Nigerian international passport
  • One passport photograph
  • Notarised or sighted proof of your address abroad, such as a utility bill, rent receipt, credit card bill, driver's licence, residence permit or bank statement, or address verification by an authorised public officer
  • One Nigerian bank reference
  • BVN (compulsory)
  • Proof of source of funds, such as a recent payslip, work ID, banker's reference letter, business registration if self-employed, or a foreign bank statement

If you live abroad without a BVN, our guide to the NRBVN explains the version for Nigerians in the diaspora.

What the fees mean in practice

The CBN's 2020 Guide to Charges limits the cash handling charge on foreign-currency withdrawals, and Keystone's 0.05% sits within that limit. The $25 telex charge relates to sending money out by international transfer; correspondent banks abroad may take their own fees as well.

Worked example

Example: you withdraw $1,500 in cash from a Keystone Domiciliary Account. At 0.05%, the charge is $0.75. On Domiciliary Lite, a $3,000 withdrawal would have to be split into two transactions because of the $2,000 per-transaction cap, and the 0.05% charge on the total is $1.50. Sending $1,000 abroad would carry the $25 telex charge, plus any correspondent bank fees.

Cards on a domiciliary account

Keystone's card services page lists a Visa Classic debit card in USD, GBP or EUR for domiciliary accounts, with a $3.28 joining fee, a $10 annual fee and a $4 cash withdrawal fee, valid for three years; spending limits are available on request. The card spends directly from the foreign-currency balance, which is useful for travel or paying foreign websites without a naira conversion at each purchase. Ask the bank for the current daily ATM, POS and online limits before you rely on it abroad.

Rules that apply to every domiciliary account

  • The money stays in foreign currency. Converting to naira happens only if you choose to sell it.
  • Cash withdrawals depend on the branch having the notes; ask before you travel to collect a large sum.
  • Large inflows may prompt questions about source of funds; keep invoices, payslips or contracts.
  • The CBN's FX Manual sets the wider rules for personal foreign-currency transactions; our FX Manual 2026 guide summarises what changed.

For withdrawals in cash generally, see withdrawing dollar cash from a domiciliary account.

Which one should you choose?

If you live in Nigeria and want to deposit dollar notes, pay with a foreign-currency card or write cheques, the full Domiciliary Account is the only one of the three that offers all of these. If relatives abroad send you dollars and you simply collect them, Domiciliary Lite asks for the fewest documents and has no opening balance, but you cannot pay cash in and each cash withdrawal is capped at $2,000. If you live abroad, the Diaspora Current Account is built for you, with a small 10-unit opening amount and stated interest, but it takes no cash and needs notarised documents and proof of source of funds.

Steps to open

  1. Decide which account fits: full Domiciliary for cash deposits and cards, Lite for receiving remittances, Diaspora Current if you live abroad.
  2. Gather the documents listed above and have your BVN ready.
  3. Start online: Keystone's accounts page links Domiciliary Lite to keystonebankng.com/open-a-keystone-account/, or visit a branch.
  4. Fund the account with the opening amount (100 units for the full Domiciliary Account).
  5. Ask for the account number, SWIFT details and any correspondent bank details you need to receive transfers from abroad.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme's multicurrency account holds NGN, USD, GBP and EUR in one account, each with its own local account details, and opens from any country; outside Nigeria, foreign-currency services run through regulated partners. Our comparison of domiciliary and multicurrency accounts sets out the differences so you can judge which suits you.

Questions people ask

What is the minimum amount to open a Keystone domiciliary account?

Keystone lists 100 units of USD, GBP or EUR for its standard Domiciliary Account, with no minimum operating balance. Domiciliary Lite has no opening balance; the Diaspora Current Account needs 10 units.

What documents do I need for Keystone Bank domiciliary account?

An account opening form, valid ID, proof of address, two references, BVN, a passport photo and a mandate card. Domiciliary Lite needs only BVN, a simplified form, mandate card, one photo and valid ID.

Can I deposit dollar cash into Keystone domiciliary account?

Yes on the standard Domiciliary Account, which Keystone says accepts foreign cash lodgment. Domiciliary Lite and the Diaspora Current Account do not accept cash deposits.

How much does Keystone charge on domiciliary withdrawals?

Keystone lists a cash withdrawal fee of 0.05% of the amount and a $25 telex charge for international transfers.
