Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Internet for a small office in Nigeria: options and costs

Business fibre, Starlink Business and shared 4G compared for a small Nigerian office: what each costs at dated prices and how to build in a backup.

The short answer

A small office in Nigeria usually chooses between business fibre where the building is connected, Starlink Business, and shared 4G or 5G routers, ideally with one of these as backup to another. As at February 2026, TechCabal reported Starlink's Business (Priority) plan at ₦159,000 a month with 1TB or 2TB of priority data and a Standard Kit at about ₦590,000. Business fibre is quoted per building and speed, so get written quotes.

An office of five to fifteen people has different needs from a home: several video calls at once, shared drives, card terminals or a bank-transfer checkout that must stay online, and staff who stop working when the connection drops. The right setup depends on what the building has, how many people are online at the same time, and how much downtime the business can tolerate. This guide compares the three common options and works through a monthly cost with dated prices.

Option 1: business fibre

Fibre gives the lowest latency and the most consistent speed, which suits video calls and cloud software. Its availability depends on whether a provider has already cabled the building or street. Business plans often include a service-level agreement (SLA) setting out response times for faults, and sometimes a fixed IP address. Ask for both in writing.

We did not confirm current business fibre prices from a provider's page for this article. Ask at least two providers for a quote that separates installation, equipment, the monthly fee and any minimum contract term. NCC data reported by TechCabal shows FibreOne was the third-largest ISP by subscribers at the end of 2025, with 44,413 active subscribers.

TechCabal reported on 25 February 2026 that Starlink reopened its Business (Priority) plan on 14 February 2026 in congested cities including Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, at ₦159,000 a month. It includes 1TB or 2TB of Priority data, after which speeds may be deprioritised, plus priority support and a publicly routable IPv4 address. The Standard Kit was about ₦590,000; a Flat High Performance dish was quoted at about ₦3.15 million to ₦4.1 million.

In parts of Lagos such as Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki and Surulere, the same report said only Priority plans were open to new customers, so a business there cannot fall back to the cheaper Residential plan.

Option 3: shared 4G or 5G

One or more mobile routers on large data plans can serve a small office quickly, with no installation. Speeds depend on signal inside the building and on how busy the local mast is. As a dated example, TechCabal reported Airtel's 200GB 30-day plan at ₦20,000 in February 2025. Two routers on different networks also give you a ready-made backup.

Comparison

Business fibreStarlink BusinessShared 4G/5G
UpfrontInstallation and router (quote)Kit ~₦590,000 (Feb 2026 report)Router per line
MonthlyQuote by speed₦159,000 (Feb 2026 report)Data plan, e.g. ₦20,000 for 200GB (Feb 2025 report)
Latency for callsLowestLow to moderateVaries with signal
Weak pointCable cuts, building accessObstructions, heavy rainCongested masts, indoor signal
Best asPrimary where availablePrimary where fibre is absentBackup, or primary for very small teams

Worked example: eight-person office (illustration)

Starlink Business as primary, two 4G routers on different networks as backup, kit spread over 24 months, using the dated prices above:

ItemMonthly
Starlink Business₦159,000
Standard Kit ₦590,000 ÷ 24₦24,583
Two 200GB backup plans at ₦20,000₦40,000
Total₦223,583
Per person (÷ 8)₦27,948

If the office only tops up the backup lines in months when they are used, the backup cost falls sharply. Check each price on the provider's site before budgeting.

What to check first

  1. Ask the landlord which providers already serve the building.
  2. Count peak simultaneous users and video calls.
  3. Test indoor mobile signal for each network at desk level.
  4. Check whether Starlink Residential or only Priority is offered at your address.
  5. Get SLA, contract term and fault-response times in writing.

Managing the network once it is in

Small offices often lose speed to a handful of devices, not to the provider. Put staff and guests on separate Wi-Fi networks, keep the payments terminal or checkout device on the primary connection, and schedule large cloud backups and software updates outside working hours. Keep the router admin password with one named person and change it when staff leave. Write the provider's fault number, your account ID and the SLA response time on a card near the router, so anyone can report an outage quickly.

Review the setup every six months. If the backup lines are used often, the primary may not be good enough; if they are never used, a smaller backup plan may do.

Keep the receipts for internet and equipment together; they are routine business expenses and you will want them for your accounts and for any dispute with a provider.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme Business Account lets a team buy the backup data bundles in the app and pay bills from one place, while the Finance agent prepares and categorises recurring costs such as internet for a person to approve (Finance agent). If your office takes bank-transfer payments through Pryme checkout (free), a working backup keeps sales flowing during an outage (checkout). See also internet for remote work.

Questions people ask

What is the best internet for a small office in Nigeria?

Business fibre where the building has it, otherwise Starlink Business, with a 4G or 5G router on another network as backup.

How much is Starlink Business in Nigeria?

TechCabal reported ₦159,000 a month in February 2026, with 1TB or 2TB of priority data, plus about ₦590,000 for the Standard Kit.

Can one MiFi serve an office?

For two or three light users, perhaps. A MiFi caps how many devices can connect (check its specification) and shares one connection among them; a router usually suits an office better.

Should an office have two internet providers?

Yes, if downtime costs money. Choose two connections that fail for different reasons, such as fibre and mobile.
