You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Who is liable for Land Use Charge, PSP waste, water and other Lagos property bills, what the law and LAWMA say, and what to put in your tenancy agreement.
In Lagos, the property owner is liable for the Land Use Charge, whether the property is let or owner-occupied. The waste (PSP) bill is paid by the occupant to the private collector LAWMA has assigned. A tenant normally pays the waste bill but not the Land Use Charge. The Land Use Charge law does let the state appoint an occupier to collect it on the owner's behalf. Water and estate charges depend on your tenancy agreement.
Tenants in Lagos often get a demand they are not sure is theirs: a Land Use Charge notice addressed to the property, a PSP bill pushed under the door, an LWC water bill in the previous tenant's name. Who pays which one depends partly on the law and partly on what you signed. This article sets out what the sources say for each bill, so you can sort what you owe from what belongs to your landlord. It is information, not legal advice.
| Bill | Who it is levied on | Usually paid by |
|---|---|---|
| Land Use Charge (LUC) | Property owner, under the Lagos Land Use Charge Law | Landlord |
| PSP waste bill | Occupants of homes and businesses served by the PSP | Tenant (occupant) |
| Lagos Water Corporation bill | The connected property, by customer or property reference | As agreed in the tenancy |
| Estate or service charge | Residents under the estate's rules | As agreed in the tenancy |
The Land Use Charge is an annual property charge collected by the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS). A 2026 guide by Ownkey states that every owner of privately held property in Lagos must pay it each year, whether the property is let or owner-occupied, and that joint owners are jointly and severally liable.
There is a catch for tenants. Section 14 of the 2020 amendment lets the Commissioner appoint any person, including an occupier, as the owner's agent for collecting the charge, Nairametrics reported in August 2020. If you are served as an agent, read the notice carefully and tell your landlord in writing straight away. The law, as reported, does not say whether you may then deduct the sum from rent, so agree that with the landlord before paying anything.
Rates are a percentage of the property's assessed annual value, and owner-occupied homes pay less than let ones. Nairametrics reported 2020 rates of 0.0394% for owner-occupied residential property and 0.394% for residential property where the owner does not live there. Ownkey's 2026 guide gives different figures and notes that the rates have been litigated. Treat any figure as unconfirmed until you have checked it with LIRS. The 2020 amendment also restored a 15% discount for payment before the due date and exempted owner-occupied property of pensioners.
Unpaid LUC grows. Ownkey says arrears attract a 10% penalty for each year of default and must be cleared, with penalties, before LIRS issues a clearance certificate. The 2020 amendment also changed the penalty bands for late payment. This matters to a tenant mainly when enforcement reaches the property, which is another reason to ask for the landlord's receipt.
Household waste in Lagos is collected by Private Sector Participants (PSPs) authorised by LAWMA, and residents pay their assigned PSP. In February 2026 LAWMA began a "Show Your PSP Payment Receipt" exercise in Apapa and Iganmu. Officials inspect homes and shops to confirm that occupants are registered with authorised operators and up to date on payments. Because enforcement is aimed at occupants, the tenant is the person who needs the receipts. For how to pay, see paying a LAWMA PSP bill.
Lagos Water Corporation bills are linked to a property or customer reference. The LWC pages we checked do not say whether owner or occupant is liable, so this is settled in your tenancy agreement. Before moving in, ask for the latest LWC bill and a receipt showing it is paid, so you do not inherit arrears. Estate service charges, security levies and generator contributions are contractual. They are owed only if your agreement or estate rules say so.
For the rest of the rent-month budget, see rent month in Lagos.
Paying PSP and water bills by transfer from your account (/p/send) gives a dated record if a bill is disputed. If you need a formal record for a landlord or estate, Pryme customers can generate a verifiable statement through VerifyDoc.ai (/p/receipts), which the recipient can check is unaltered.
The owner is liable, whether the property is let or owner-occupied. The 2020 amendment lets the state appoint an occupier as the owner's agent to collect it, so agree in writing with your landlord before paying anything yourself.
Yes, in practice. Residents and businesses pay their assigned PSP, and LAWMA's 2026 receipt checks target occupants. Keep your receipts.
The reported text of the 2020 amendment does not say. If you are served as the owner's agent, settle deduction with your landlord in writing first. This is information, not legal advice.
