Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to sell on Konga: registration and commissions

Register on Konga SellerHQ, the documents it asks for, how commission depends on merchant class, the three fulfilment options, penalties and payout days.

The short answer

To sell on Konga you register on SellerHQ (shq.konga.com), verify your email and phone, accept the terms, choose a monthly plan and provide a national ID, passport photograph and bank details. Konga's 2024 seller handbook says commission varies by category and merchant class, with free-plan sellers paying the highest rate, and that payouts are made on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Konga is a Nigerian online marketplace where you list products, Konga takes the order and payment, and you or Konga fulfil it. Its rules for sellers are collected in the Updated Seller Handbook 2024, a PDF Konga hosts for its SellerHQ merchants. Everything below comes from that handbook as opened in October 2026; where it is silent or contradicts itself, we say so. Rules can change, so check your SellerHQ dashboard for the current version.

Registration on SellerHQ

  1. Go to shq.konga.com and sign up, filling in the required fields.
  2. Verify your email address.
  3. Verify your mobile number with the OTP sent to it.
  4. Accept the terms and conditions, download the orientation guide and tick the confirmation box.
  5. Complete onboarding and choose a monthly plan. The handbook does not state plan prices; they are shown in SellerHQ.

Documents

  • A nationally recognised ID card
  • A passport photograph
  • Bank details for payouts

The handbook also describes setting up KongaPay for payouts: personal accounts need a KongaPay account before they can be paid, while corporate accounts set a payout threshold. If you plan to sell as a registered business, CAC's fee schedule gazetted in May 2025 lists ₦20,000 to register a business name (with certified copies), after a ₦1,000 name reservation; see business name or limited company.

Commission and merchant classes

The handbook does not print commission percentages. It says rates vary by category and can be seen on your dashboard, and that your class affects the rate:

Special Merchants
Sellers on the free plan; pay the highest commission.
Classic Plus
Pay the lowest commission; qualify by selling 1,000 orders or ₦2 million in value consecutively over two months.

So the choice of plan is a trade: a paid monthly plan against a lower commission. Work out which is cheaper at your expected sales once you see the plan prices and rates in SellerHQ.

Worked example (illustrative)

Example: suppose the free plan carried a 12% commission and a paid plan cost ₦10,000 a month with 8% commission (all assumed figures). At ₦200,000 monthly sales, the free plan costs ₦24,000; the paid plan costs ₦16,000 + ₦10,000 = ₦26,000. At ₦300,000 sales the free plan costs ₦36,000 and the paid plan ₦24,000 + ₦10,000 = ₦34,000. The break-even is where 4% of sales equals the plan fee: ₦250,000 in this example.

Three ways to fulfil orders

OptionHow it worksHandbook rule
Kxpress drop-off (KOS)You drop the order at a Kxpress location with a printed invoice; waybill issuedShip within 48 hours of the order
Self-fulfilmentYou use your own courierPrepaid orders only; update status and courier details
Fulfilment by Konga (FBK)Stock stored at Konga's centre; you pay when items sell0-10kg ₦157.5, 11-25kg ₦525, over 25kg ₦840 (may change)

Kxpress does not carry certain items, including bags of rice or cement, wet batteries, perishables and liquids. Prepaid orders not marked shipped within 48 hours are cancelled, and the handbook says the store may be suspended for two months.

Returns and penalties

  • Plan for returns on at least 30% of delivered orders, the handbook advises.
  • Collect returns within 7 days, or pay ₦1,000 demurrage; items left more than a month are forfeited.
  • QA charge: ₦1,000 per order shipped from Konga Logistics locations.
  • Seller cancellation: four times standard commission, minimum ₦2,500, maximum ₦50,000.
  • Second wrong, incomplete or defective item in a month: ₦10,000.
  • Counterfeit, fake or expired goods: the handbook is inconsistent, listing a ₦50,000 fine in one table and a one-month suspension in another; a second offence leads to closure.

Avoiding the common charges

Most of these charges are avoidable with routine. Check SellerHQ at least twice a day so no prepaid order passes 48 hours unshipped. Keep stock counts true, since a cancellation because you ran out costs four times the commission. Inspect each item before it leaves, as a second defective item in a month costs ₦10,000. And collect returns within the 7-day window. A seller who builds these checks into the day rarely pays any of them.

Status updates matter too: the handbook lists a one-month suspension for false order status updates, so mark an order shipped only when it has actually left your hands.

Before your first order, read the full handbook in SellerHQ: it is long, and some sections contradict others, such as the delivery deadline for self-fulfilled orders, which appears as 8 days in one place and 10 in another. Where they conflict, ask seller support which applies and keep their answer.

Getting paid

Sales move into escrow after the 7-day return period. With the wallet, you request a payout and receive it in 3 to 7 working days; KongaPay payouts are automatic. Payment days are Tuesdays and Fridays. For a side-by-side view, read Jumia vs Konga for sellers.

Where Pryme fits

Payouts twice a week can be swept into a Pryme Business sub-account reserved for stock and returns, so a run of returns does not eat your working cash. See multiple accounts and open an account.

Questions people ask

How do I register as a seller on Konga?

Sign up on SellerHQ at shq.konga.com, verify email and phone, accept the terms, complete onboarding and choose a monthly plan. Provide a national ID, passport photo and bank details.

How much commission does Konga charge?

Konga's handbook says commission varies by category and merchant class and is shown on your dashboard. Free-plan sellers pay the highest rate; Classic Plus sellers the lowest.

When does Konga pay sellers?

After the 7-day return period, sales enter escrow. Wallet payouts take 3 to 7 working days after a request; payment days are Tuesdays and Fridays, per the 2024 handbook.

What is Konga FBK?

Fulfilment by Konga: your stock is stored at Konga's centre and charged by weight after delivery, from ₦157.5 for items up to 10kg, according to the handbook.
