Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to apply for a Branch loan and why you may be declined

How the Branch app assesses you, which phone permissions it may request, what history it looks at, why you may be declined, and how to read an offer.

The short answer

To apply for a Branch loan in Nigeria you install the Branch app, register with your phone number, verify your BVN, add a bank account in your name and grant the permissions it asks for, then accept or decline the offer shown. Declines tend to follow from limited or mismatched data, overdue loans elsewhere or a weak repayment record. Branch International Financial Limited appeared on the FCCPC approved list as reproduced on 19 April 2026; confirm today's status on the FCCPC page.

How Branch decides

Branch is a mobile lending app operated in Nigeria by Branch International Financial Limited, which is entry 29 on the list of FCCPC-approved digital lenders reproduced by Legit.ng on 19 April 2026. Like other app lenders, it does not rely on payslips or guarantors. It builds a view of you from data: your identity, your bank account, your credit record and, where you allow it, information on your phone. The first offer is usually small and can grow as you repay on time.

For the regulator's current position, the FCCPC resumed enforcing its 2025 digital lending regulations on 20 July 2026 after a Federal High Court ruling in Lagos. More on Branch's standing is in Is Branch loan app legit in Nigeria?

Phone permissions: what to look at before you agree

Loan apps commonly request access to device information, and some ask for SMS access so that bank alerts can be read as evidence of income and spending. What Branch requests can change between versions, so check two places before you install:

  • The Data safety section on the Google Play listing, which states what data the app collects and shares.
  • Each permission prompt on your phone. Android asks before granting SMS, location or other sensitive access, and you can review or remove permissions later under Settings, Apps.

Contacts are a sensitive area. Lenders contacting a borrower's friends or family has been the subject of FCCPC action. If any lender shames you or messages your contacts, see Loan app harassment in Nigeria: your rights.

Steps to apply

  1. Install Branch from the official Google Play or App Store listing; check the developer name.
  2. Register with your phone number, ideally the one linked to your BVN, and enter the verification code.
  3. Verify your identity with your BVN and add your bank account.
  4. Review and decide on each permission request.
  5. Request a loan. If an offer is made, the app shows the amount, the tenor, each instalment and the total to repay.
  6. Accept only if the total and each due date work for you. The money is sent to your bank account.

Why Branch may decline you

ReasonWhy it mattersFix
Little data to assessA new phone, new SIM or new account gives no historyUse one phone and account consistently, then reapply later
Identity mismatchBVN name differs from bank account or entered nameUse names exactly as on your BVN
Overdue loans elsewhereBureau records show missed repaymentsClear arrears and wait for the record to update
Past late repayment with BranchYour own history with the lender counts mostRepay outstanding balances; future offers depend on it
Very irregular incomeHard to judge affordabilityKeep income flowing into your own account

Worked example: daily rate versus monthly

Example only; the rate is invented. Some lenders state a monthly rate, some an annual one, and a few show a daily figure. An example charge of 0.5% a day on ₦50,000 for 30 days is ₦250 a day, ₦7,500 in total, so you repay ₦57,500. That is 15% for the month, which looks very different from "0.5%". Read the total repayment the app shows in naira. Our Branch interest rate explainer covers how Branch presents its pricing.

Repayment and growing your limit

Repayment is due on the dates shown in the offer, and the app sets out the ways you can pay, such as a bank transfer to an account it names or a card payment. Pay only through those routes, and save each confirmation in case a payment is not matched to your loan. If you pay early, check in the app that the balance shows as cleared.

App lenders tend to start new customers on small amounts. The usual pattern is that a limit grows after several loans repaid on time, because your own repayment history with the lender is the strongest evidence it has. Paying even a day late can slow that progress or reset it. A larger limit is only useful if you can repay it; the safest approach is to borrow what you need rather than what you are offered. For the wider principles, see How to grow your credit limit with a lender.

What to check first

  • Search Branch International Financial Limited on the FCCPC approvals page.
  • Check the Data safety section and the permission prompts.
  • Write down the total repayment and each due date before you accept.
  • Keep screenshots of the agreement and of every repayment.

Where Pryme fits

If the spending is at a supermarket, eatery or pharmacy, Loans on Spaces may suit. It is lent by Solid Allianze MFB, used only with Spaces merchants, and any limit is offered from how your account is run, with the full agreement shown for you to accept.

Questions people ask

What does Branch need to give me a loan?

A phone number, your BVN, a bank account in your name and the permissions the app requests. It then shows any offer and the total repayment.

Why does Branch keep declining me?

Usually too little data, an identity mismatch, overdue loans elsewhere or past late repayment with Branch. Fix the cause before reapplying.

Does Branch read my SMS?

Some loan apps ask for SMS access to read bank alerts. Check Branch's Data safety section on Google Play and the permission prompts on your phone.

Is Branch registered with FCCPC?

Branch International Financial Limited appeared on the approved list reproduced on 19 April 2026. Confirm on the FCCPC approvals page.
