Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Life in Abuja

Filling rooms at an Abuja hotel or shortlet

Abuja hotels and shortlets live on official and business travel. How to win corporate guests, fill weekends and use Spaces to reach guests.

The short answer

Hotels and shortlets in Abuja fill rooms by serving the city's steady flow of official, conference and business travellers during the week, and by giving local families and visitors reasons to book at weekends and holidays. Joining Spaces lets a property reach guests who hold Loans on Spaces, credit they can only spend with Spaces merchants, including on hotels and shortlets.

Abuja's travel pattern

As the seat of the federal government, Abuja draws visitors for meetings with ministries and agencies, National Assembly business, conferences, trainings, embassy appointments and contract work. Most of that travel happens from Monday to Thursday. Hotels and shortlets in Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse 2, Garki, the Central Business District, Jabi and Utako see strong weekday demand, then a dip from Friday afternoon.

Shortlets in Gwarinpa, Katampe, Life Camp, Lokogoma and Guzape often serve longer stays: consultants on assignment, families relocating, diaspora visitors in December and people waiting for a house to rent. Each market wants something different.

Win the weekday traveller

  • Corporate accounts. Approach organisations that bring staff to Abuja regularly: consultancies, NGOs, contractors, training firms. Offer an agreed rate, a monthly invoice and a named contact.
  • Receipts that pass audit. Business guests need a receipt or invoice with your registered name, dates, room rate and taxes shown. Projects and donors check them.
  • Airport access. Many guests fly in. Offer pick-up at a fixed price. Daily Trust reported in November 2025 that the light rail links the airport to the city centre and Kubwa, but with only a few trips a day, so most guests still need a car.
  • Work-ready rooms. A desk, reliable internet and steady power. AEDC supply varies by feeder and band; guests do not care why the light went off, only that it did.

Fill the weekend

Weekend rooms are where most Abuja properties lose money. Local guests are the answer: couples on a staycation, families visiting relatives, wedding guests, people attending events at Abuja's venues. Price weekends separately, add something weekday guests do not need, such as late check-out, breakfast for children or a pool day pass, and market to residents in other districts. The national guide to raising weekday occupancy deals with the opposite problem, but its tactics, such as packages, local promotion and partnerships, work just as well for Abuja weekends.

Partners who send weekend guests

Event centres, wedding planners, churches and mosques holding conventions, sports clubs and schools hosting visiting teams all need rooms on Fridays and Saturdays. Agree a simple referral arrangement with a few of them, with a block rate and a release date for unsold rooms. A single wedding party can fill a small hotel for two nights.

Worked example: a 24-room hotel in Wuse

Example only. A 24-room hotel in Wuse charges ₦70,000 a night. It runs at 85% from Monday to Thursday and 35% from Friday to Sunday. Over a four-week month, that is about 326 weekday room nights and 101 weekend room nights.

The manager creates a ₦55,000 weekend staycation rate with breakfast and late check-out and promotes it to residents. Lifting weekends to 55% adds about 57 room nights, roughly ₦3.1 million a month in the example. Some local guests may pay with a Loan on Spaces they accepted in the Pryme app; the hotel receives a Spaces payment, and the guest repays the lender on their own date.

Shortlets: compete on the details

Abuja's shortlet market has grown quickly, and guests compare listings closely. Long-stay guests, such as consultants on a three-month assignment or a family waiting for a lease, choose on a few practical points:

  1. Power arrangements stated plainly: grid band, backup source, and who pays for fuel or tokens.
  2. Water supply and whether it depends on a pump that needs power.
  3. Security at the estate gate and the rules for visitors and drivers.
  4. A weekly or monthly rate that is clearly cheaper than the nightly rate.
  5. A named host who answers the phone at night.

Put these in the listing and the booking confirmation. It reduces disputes at check-out and earns the reviews that bring the next guest.

Booking sites, caution deposits and December

Booking platforms bring guests but take commission. Use them to be found, then win repeat guests directly. The national article on direct bookings versus booking sites sets out the trade-off. For shortlets, hold caution deposits under clear written rules and refund promptly; Abuja's shortlet market is word-of-mouth heavy, and one bad refund story travels. Agree with each guest at booking what counts as damage, how it will be assessed and how quickly the balance will be returned.

December brings diaspora visitors and wedding parties, while some weekday official travel slows. Open December bookings early, ask for deposits on long stays, and be clear about minimum-night rules over Christmas and New Year.

Where Pryme fits

Hotels and shortlets are a supported Spaces sector, and Spaces operates in Abuja. A property with a Pryme Business Account can join Spaces and reach guests whose Loans on Spaces credit, lent by Solid Allianze MFB, can only be spent with Spaces merchants. You can also generate verifiable receipts, built with VerifyDoc.ai, which a guest's employer can check are genuine and unaltered. Ask Pryme about merchant terms through the contact page. Properties with foreign guests can receive USD, GBP and EUR with multicurrency business accounts.

Questions people ask

When are Abuja hotels busiest?

Weekdays, especially Monday to Thursday, when official, conference and business travellers are in town. Weekends are often quieter, apart from event weekends and December.

How can an Abuja hotel get corporate clients?

Approach organisations that send staff to Abuja often with an agreed rate, a monthly invoice and receipts that meet their audit rules. Reliability matters more than discounts.

Can guests pay for an Abuja shortlet with Loans on Spaces?

Yes, at hotels and shortlets that have joined Spaces. The sector is supported and Spaces operates in Abuja.

Does the Abuja light rail reach the airport?

Daily Trust reported in November 2025 that two lines connect to the airport, from the city centre and from Kubwa, with only a few trips each day. Check current timetables before telling guests to rely on it.
