Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Life in Abuja

Growing enrolment at an Abuja private school

How Abuja private schools attract and keep parents: FCT accreditation as a trust signal, enrolment timing, fee flexibility and Spaces.

The short answer

Abuja private schools grow enrolment by giving parents proof of quality, such as accreditation from the FCT Education Secretariat's Department of Quality Assurance, by recruiting at the right point in the calendar, and by making fees easier to manage. Joining Spaces lets a school be paid by parents who hold Loans on Spaces, credit they can only spend with Spaces merchants, including on school fees.

What Abuja parents check first

Parents in Abuja have a wide choice, from small schools in Kubwa, Lugbe and Nyanya to large ones in Maitama, Asokoro, Gwarinpa and Jabi. Before fees, most ask three questions: is the school recognised, is it safe, and will my child be taught well. A school that answers those clearly, in writing and on a visit, wins the comparison before price is discussed.

Recognition is where many proprietors undersell themselves. The FCT Education Secretariat's Department of Quality Assurance (DQA) is responsible for the inspection, supervision and accreditation of both public and private schools below tertiary level. It works through zonal offices across the six Area Councils, with two offices serving AMAC.

Accreditation as a marketing asset

In October 2026 it was reported that the Secretariat's 18th accreditation exercise assessed 47 schools: 37 received full accreditation, 7 provisional accreditation with six months to fix deficiencies, and 3 were denied. Schools needed at least 67% in each of four areas.

Area assessedWhat parents see
Physical facilities and environmentSafe buildings, clean toilets, water, play space
StaffingQualified teachers, low turnover, a named head
Curriculum and academic activitiesTimetables, lesson notes, results, clubs
Support services and welfareSick bay, safeguarding, transport, meals

These four areas make a ready-made checklist for your open day. If you hold accreditation, say so and show the letter. If you are working towards it, show parents the improvements you have made in each area. Never claim a status you do not hold; parents can ask the Secretariat, and word travels fast in Abuja estates.

Recruit on the parents' calendar

  1. Second term: parents of children finishing nursery or primary start comparing schools. Run open days and taster sessions now.
  2. Third term: decisions are made. Send offer letters with a clear fee schedule and an acceptance deadline.
  3. Long vacation: families who have moved to Abuja, including civil servants on transfer and staff of organisations based in the city, look for places at short notice. Keep someone on duty to show them round.
  4. First term start: retention matters most. The first weeks decide whether a new family stays.

Families relocating to Abuja often settle in areas such as Gwarinpa, Lokogoma, Life Camp, Katampe and Lugbe. If you are near one, make sure estate associations and relocation contacts know your school exists and what it charges.

Fees: clarity first, flexibility second

Fee disputes drive parents away more than fee levels. Publish one fee schedule showing tuition, levies, uniforms, books and transport separately, and say when each is due. The national guide on setting private school fees without losing parents covers how to review fees fairly.

Then think about how parents pay. Many Abuja households are salaried and receive pay monthly, while fees fall due in a lump at the start of term. An instalment plan run by the school helps, but it puts the school in the lending business and makes collection harder.

Worked example: a Gwarinpa primary school

Example only. A primary school in Gwarinpa has 220 pupils and termly fees of ₦350,000. It has 30 empty places. In past years about 15% of families paid late, leaving around ₦11.5 million outstanding at mid-term and teachers' pay squeezed.

After joining Spaces, some parents pay the full fee at the start of term with a Loan on Spaces they were offered and accepted in their Pryme app. They see the amount, cost and repayment date before accepting, and repay the lender, Solid Allianze MFB, not the school. The school receives a Spaces payment and does not chase those parents. Filling ten of the empty places at ₦350,000 adds ₦3.5 million a term in the example.

Keep the families you win

  • Send a short, regular update to parents: what was taught, upcoming events, any change in fees well in advance.
  • Give receipts for every payment. Some employers in Abuja reimburse school fees, and a clear receipt saves parents trouble.
  • Respond to complaints within a set time and record what you did.
  • Ask families who leave why. It is the cheapest research a school can do.

Keep your accreditation work going after you pass. The four areas the DQA assesses are also the areas parents notice day to day, so a school that keeps toilets clean, teachers settled and welfare services working is doing its marketing at the same time.

Where Pryme fits

Schools are a supported Spaces sector, and Spaces operates in Abuja. A school with a Pryme Business Account can join Spaces and be paid by parents whose Loans on Spaces credit can only be spent with Spaces merchants. Pryme customers can also generate verifiable receipts, built with VerifyDoc.ai, that a recipient can check are genuine and unaltered, which helps parents claiming fees from an employer. Ask Pryme about merchant terms through the contact page, and see pay-later for private schools for how the model works. Schools issuing many invoices each term can use invoicing.

Questions people ask

How do I know if a private school in Abuja is accredited?

Accreditation of public and private schools below tertiary level is handled by the FCT Education Secretariat's Department of Quality Assurance. Ask the school for its letter and check with the Secretariat if unsure.

When do parents in Abuja choose schools for the new session?

Many start comparing in the second term and decide in the third term, with a second wave of families who relocate to Abuja during the long vacation.

Can parents pay school fees with Loans on Spaces?

Yes, at schools that have joined Spaces. Schools are a supported sector and Spaces operates in Abuja. The parent's agreement is with Solid Allianze MFB.

Should my school offer instalments or use Spaces?

An in-house instalment plan means the school carries the risk of late payment. With Spaces, a parent who accepts a Loan on Spaces pays the school and repays the lender. Some schools offer both.
