Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

GTBank QuickCredit not eligible: reasons and what to do

Why *737*51*51# says you are not eligible for QuickCredit: salary not domiciled, a Remita loan, a bureau record, low lodgements or age, and what to fix.

The short answer

GTBank QuickCredit usually says "not eligible" because one of the bank's published conditions is not met: your salary is not paid into GTBank consistently, you already have a loan on Remita, your credit bureau report shows unpaid debt, your lodgements or salary are below the stated minimums, or you would be over 59 when the loan ends. Some of these can be fixed in a month or two; others take longer.

Seeing "you are not eligible" on *737*51*51# is frustrating, especially when a colleague with the same employer gets an offer. The good news is that GTBank publishes its conditions, so you can check each one yourself. This guide lists them, explains how each one fails in practice and what you can do about it. If you have not applied yet, start with how to get GTBank QuickCredit.

The conditions GTBank publishes

According to GTBank's QuickCredit page (as at Oct 2026), applicants should meet all of the following:

ConditionHow it fails in practice
Salary paid into a GTBank salary account consistently for the last 6 months through your current employer (the page's FAQ says 12 months)New job, salary moved recently, or months where salary was paid late or into another bank
Minimum monthly lodgement of ₦20,000Income split across banks so GTBank sees less
Net monthly salary of ₦30,000Salary below the threshold after deductions
No existing loan on the Remita platformA loan from any lender being repaid through Remita salary deduction
Clean credit bureau report with no unpaid obligationsAn overdue loan app balance or old overdraft
No history of dud chequesA bounced cheque on record
Aged 18 or over at application, no older than 59 at maturityClose to 59, so even short tenors would end too late

Reason by reason: what you can do

Salary not domiciled, or not long enough

QuickCredit is priced on the bank being able to see and collect from your salary. If your employer pays you into another bank, ask HR to change your salary account to GTBank, then wait for the required run of consecutive salary credits. If your salary was moved recently, the clock starts from the first payment into GTBank. The page mentions both 6 and 12 months, so plan for the longer one.

An existing Remita loan

Remita is used by many employers, especially in the public sector, to deduct loan repayments from salary. If any lender has a running loan registered against your salary there, QuickCredit will not proceed. Repay or finish that loan and allow time for the record to clear.

A credit bureau record

Any unpaid balance reported by a bank or loan app can block you. Request your report from a licensed bureau, settle what you really owe and dispute anything wrong. Our guide to credit bureaus in Nigeria explains how to request a report and raise a dispute.

Lodgement or salary below the minimum

If you are paid less than ₦30,000 net, QuickCredit is not designed for you. If you earn more but spread income across several banks, route more of it through GTBank.

Age at maturity

If you are close to 59, the bank must be able to finish the loan before that age. A shorter tenor may still be possible; if not, this condition cannot be changed.

Reasons that are not on the list

  • Phone number mismatch. *737# works only from the number linked to your account. If you changed SIM, update it at GTBank first.
  • Restricted account. A Post No Debit or incomplete KYC on your account can stop any loan.
  • A QuickCredit already running. You may need to finish or reduce the existing one before another is offered.
  • System downtime. Occasionally the service is unavailable; try GTWorld or Internet Banking later the same day.

What to check first

  1. Count your consecutive monthly salary credits into GTBank in your statement.
  2. Confirm your net salary and monthly lodgements are above ₦30,000 and ₦20,000.
  3. Ask your HR or payroll unit whether a loan is registered against you on Remita.
  4. Request a credit report and clear or dispute any unpaid item.
  5. Make sure you are dialling from the phone number on your GTBank account.
  6. If everything checks out, contact GTBank customer care and ask which condition failed.

While you wait: compare the alternatives

If the only problem is time, for example you moved your salary to GTBank three months ago, the cheapest option may simply be to wait. QuickCredit's published monthly rate is lower than what many short app loans charge, and once you qualify you can borrow over up to 12 months rather than 30 days. Meanwhile, keep your salary and spending flowing through the account so the history the bank looks for builds up.

When you need money now and QuickCredit is not available, the temptation is a loan app. Compare costs carefully. As an example: QuickCredit at 2.95% a month on ₦100,000 over one month would be about ₦2,950 in interest plus ₦1,000 insurance. A loan app quoting an example 1% per day on the same amount for 30 days would be ₦30,000. See overdraft vs loan app for more comparisons.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme customers may be offered Loans on Spaces based on how they run their account. These are lent by Solid Allianze MFB, can be spent only with merchants in Spaces, and are accepted only after you have read the full agreement.

Questions people ask

Why does GTBank say I am not eligible for QuickCredit?

Usually because one of its published conditions is not met: salary not paid into GTBank long enough, an existing Remita loan, unpaid debt on your credit report, salary or lodgements below the minimum, or age at maturity over 59.

Can I get GTBank QuickCredit if my salary is not with GTBank?

GTBank's QuickCredit page describes eligibility in terms of a salary account with consistent salary credits, so move your salary to GTBank and build the required history first.

How long after moving my salary to GTBank can I get QuickCredit?

The page states 6 months of consistent salary, while its FAQ says 12 months. Plan for 12 and check again at 6.

Does a Remita loan stop GTBank QuickCredit?

Yes. GTBank lists having no existing loan on the Remita platform as a condition.
