Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to apply for an Aella loan and why you may be declined

How to sign up for an Aella loan, why BVN and employment details matter, the common reasons for a decline, and what to check before money is sent.

The short answer

You apply for an Aella loan in the Aella app by registering, verifying your identity with your BVN, adding a bank account in your name and, where asked, employment details, then accepting the offer shown. Declines usually come from mismatched identity details, overdue loans elsewhere or income Aella cannot confirm; Aella Financial Solutions Limited appeared on the FCCPC approved list as reproduced on 19 April 2026, but check the FCCPC page for its current status.

Aella in brief

Aella is a Nigerian consumer lending app run by Aella Financial Solutions Limited, which appears as entry 105 on the list of FCCPC-approved digital lenders reproduced by Legit.ng on 19 April 2026. The FCCPC resumed enforcing its 2025 digital lending regulations on 20 July 2026 after a Federal High Court ruling, so the regulator's own approvals page is where to confirm the status today. A fuller look at the app's standing is in Is Aella legit? Licence, FCCPC status and what to check.

Sign-up: what the app asks you to provide

Aella's sign-up is built around confirming identity and income. The details below are what readers should expect to provide; the exact screens can change between app versions.

BVN
Matches your name, date of birth and phone number to banking records and lets the lender check your credit history.
Phone number
A verification code is sent to it. Using the BVN-linked number avoids a mismatch.
Bank account
For disbursement and, in most cases, for repayment. It must be in your own name.
Employment details
Employer name, role and income. If you work for a company with an arrangement with Aella, the app may ask for your work email or staff details.
Selfie or ID
Some versions ask for a photo or an ID document to confirm you are the account holder.

Steps to apply

  1. Download the Aella app from the official app store listing and check the developer name is Aella.
  2. Create an account with your phone number and email, and set a password or PIN.
  3. Verify your identity with your BVN and complete any selfie or ID step.
  4. Add your bank account and employment or income details.
  5. Request a loan. If an offer is made, the app shows the amount, rate, tenor, instalments and total repayment.
  6. Read the loan agreement. Accept only if every instalment fits your budget; disbursement goes to your bank account once you accept.

Worked example: a three-month loan

Example only; the rate is invented to show the method, not Aella's price. A loan of ₦100,000 over 3 months at 6% per month flat carries ₦6,000 interest a month, ₦18,000 in total, so you repay ₦118,000, about ₦39,333 a month. If the same 6% were charged on a reducing balance, the interest would fall each month as you repay, and the total would be lower. Lenders state rates in different ways, so compare the total repayment in naira. Our Aella interest rate explainer looks at how the app presents cost.

MonthInstalment (example)
1₦39,333
2₦39,333
3₦39,334
Total₦118,000

Why Aella may decline you

Identity does not match

If your BVN name, bank account name and the name you typed differ, even by a middle name or spelling, verification can fail. Use your names exactly as on your BVN.

Credit record

An overdue loan with another lender, reported to a credit bureau, weighs heavily. Repaying it and waiting for the record to update helps more than reapplying. See how credit bureaus work in Nigeria.

Income the lender cannot confirm

If your salary is paid in cash, into someone else's account, or irregularly, the app may not be able to assess what you can afford. A stable inflow into your own account over several months gives a clearer picture.

Too much existing debt

If several loans already take a large share of your monthly income, a new offer may be refused or reduced. This protects you as much as the lender.

After a decline: a practical plan

A decline is information. Rather than trying four other apps the same evening, work through the likely cause over the following weeks.

  1. Week 1: compare the names on your BVN, bank account and Aella profile, and correct any difference with your bank.
  2. Week 1: request your credit report and list any loan shown as overdue, including ones you think are closed.
  3. Weeks 2 to 3: repay or agree a plan on anything overdue, and ask the lender to update the bureau record.
  4. Weeks 2 to 4: let your income land in your own account, in full, so there is a clear record of it.
  5. After a month: apply once, for a modest amount that you can repay comfortably.

Applying to many lenders at once leaves a trail of enquiries and, if several approve you, a stack of repayments that collide on the same date.

What to check first

  • Search Aella Financial Solutions Limited on the FCCPC approvals page.
  • Confirm the total repayment, each instalment date and how repayment will be collected.
  • Ask how to stop or change a repayment mandate if your account details change.
  • Keep copies of the agreement and every repayment confirmation.

Where Pryme fits

Where the money is for groceries, pharmacy items or school costs, Loans on Spaces from Solid Allianze MFB is spent only with Spaces merchants. A limit may be offered from how your account is run, and you see and accept the full agreement before anything is drawn.

Questions people ask

What are the requirements for an Aella loan?

Your BVN, a BVN-linked phone number, a bank account in your name, and employment or income details. Some versions also ask for a selfie or ID.

Why was my Aella loan declined?

Common reasons are a name mismatch between your BVN and bank account, overdue loans elsewhere, income the app cannot confirm, or too much existing debt.

Does Aella need my employer?

It asks for employment details. Staff of companies with an arrangement with Aella may be asked for work email or staff details.

Is Aella approved by FCCPC?

Aella Financial Solutions Limited appeared on the approved list reproduced by Legit.ng on 19 April 2026. Check the FCCPC approvals page for current status.
