Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

Buying airtime and data with GTBank *737#

The exact *737# strings for your own airtime, airtime for someone else and data bundles, the daily recharge cap GTBank lists, and what to do if it fails.

The short answer

Dial *737*Amount# to buy airtime for the GTBank-registered line you are dialling from, *737*Amount*PhoneNumber# to top up another number, and *737*4# for a data bundle menu. GTBank's Bank737 features page, as at October 2026, gives a daily recharge limit of ₦10,000 for airtime and data, and the purchase must be made from the phone number registered on your GTBank account.

The three strings you need

GTBank publishes its airtime and data codes on two official pages: the Bank737 features list and the Bank 737 service page on gtbank.com. Both agree on the airtime strings. In each case you dial from the phone number GTBank holds on your account, because that number is how *737# recognises you. There is no separate sign-up; the 737 FAQ says no registration is required beyond dialling from the registered number.

What you wantString to dialNotes from GTBank
Airtime for your own line*737*Amount#For example *737*500# for ₦500
Airtime for another number*737*Amount*PhoneNumber#Number of the person receiving the airtime
Data bundle, self or another number*737*4#Opens a menu of networks and bundles
Airtime advance (salary accounts)*737*8*1#Only for salary account holders GTBank has prequalified

Because the data string opens a menu rather than taking a bundle code, the bundle names and prices you see come from the network at the time you dial. GTBank does not publish a bundle price list on its 737 pages, so treat whatever the menu shows as the price for that moment, and compare it with the network's own bundle menu if you buy data often. Our guide to stopping airtime and data waste explains how to compare bundles by cost per gigabyte.

How a typical purchase runs

  1. Dial the string from the phone number registered on your GTBank account.
  2. Choose the account to debit if you have more than one.
  3. Confirm the amount and, for a third-party top-up, the recipient number on screen.
  4. Authenticate. GTBank's 737 FAQ says transactions are confirmed with the last four digits of your active naira Mastercard or with the 4-digit 737 PIN you created with *737*5#.
  5. Wait for the network's confirmation SMS and your GTBank debit alert.

Limits GTBank lists

The Bank737 features page states a daily recharge limit of ₦10,000 for airtime and data together (as at October 2026, undated page). It also says the service covers Glo, MTN, Airtel and Etisalat (the page has not been updated for later network name changes, so ask GTConnect if your network is not listed), and that the phone used to buy must be registered with GTBank. If you need more than ₦10,000 of airtime or data in a day, the 737 channel will not do it; the GTWorld app or internet banking are the usual alternatives, and their limits are set separately.

Worked example: staying inside the daily cap

Example only. Tolu buys ₦2,000 of airtime for herself in the morning with *737*2000#, then a ₦5,000 data bundle through *737*4# at lunchtime. That is ₦7,000 used. In the evening she tries to send ₦5,000 of airtime to her brother with *737*5000*08012345678#. Because ₦7,000 + ₦5,000 = ₦12,000, the request would take her above the ₦10,000 daily cap, so she can send at most ₦3,000 through 737 until the next day.

When airtime or data does not arrive

GTBank's 737 pages do not set out a specific procedure or timeline for undelivered airtime, so the steps below are the practical sequence most customers follow, not a GTBank-published rule.

  1. Check whether you were debited. Look for the debit alert or dial *737*6*1# for your balance (GTBank lists a ₦10 charge per balance enquiry in its 737 FAQ, as at October 2026).
  2. Check the recipient number. A mistyped number in *737*Amount*PhoneNumber# sends airtime to whoever owns that line, and recovering it depends on the network and the recipient.
  3. Give it a short while. Network delays happen, especially at month end. If nothing arrives after a few hours, raise it.
  4. Contact GTBank with the date, time, amount, recipient number and any reference in your alert. GTBank lists GTConnect on +234 700 4826 66328, +234 1 448 0000, +234 802 900 2900 and +234 803 900 3900, and the email gtbankmailsupport@gtbank.com for complaints.
  5. If the bank does not resolve it, the CBN asks you to complain to the bank first and allow two weeks before escalating to its Consumer Protection Department.

Keep the debit alert. It is the evidence the bank and the network will ask for. Our explainer on complaining about a bank or fintech in Nigeria sets out the CBN escalation route in full.

Safety points specific to airtime by USSD

  • Never dial a *737# string someone sends you to "confirm" a purchase or receive a prize. Airtime strings move money from your account.
  • Your 737 PIN is the only barrier on a phone someone else picks up. If your phone is lost, GTBank lists *737*911# as its account block string.
  • If you suspect your SIM has been swapped, act quickly; see our guide to SIM swap fraud.

For a full list of other 737 codes, see the GTBank *737# code list, and if dialling fails entirely, read GTBank *737# not working.

Where Pryme fits

If you hold a Pryme Personal Account, you can buy airtime and data in the app alongside electricity and cable TV, with a transaction PIN and authenticator app protecting each payment. A Personal Assistant can also prepare recurring top-ups for your approval; see the Personal Assistant.

Questions people ask

What is the GTBank code to buy airtime for another number?

Dial *737*Amount*PhoneNumber# from the phone registered on your GTBank account, for example *737*1000*08012345678#, then confirm with your 737 PIN or card digits.

How do I buy data with GTBank USSD?

Dial *737*4# from your registered number and follow the menu to choose the network, bundle and recipient. Prices are shown in the menu when you dial.

What is the maximum airtime I can buy with *737# in a day?

GTBank's Bank737 features page lists a daily recharge limit of ₦10,000 for airtime and data, as at October 2026.

I was debited but airtime did not come. What should I do?

Check the recipient number and your debit alert, wait a few hours, then contact GTConnect or email gtbankmailsupport@gtbank.com with the time, amount and reference. If unresolved after two weeks, you can escalate to the CBN.
