Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

How to transfer money with GTBank *737# to any bank

The *737*1# and *737*2# transfer strings, how the PIN and token step works, the daily limits GTBank publishes and the charges to expect.

The short answer

Dial *737*1*Amount*AccountNumber# to send to a GTBank account and *737*2*Amount*AccountNumber# to send to any other Nigerian bank, then confirm with your 737 PIN or card digits. GTBank's pages give two different daily caps as at October 2026, ₦1,000,000 on the features page and ₦200,000 in the FAQ, and transfers above ₦500,000 need a hardware token.

The two transfer strings

Sending toStringExample
Another GTBank account*737*1*Amount*AccountNumber#*737*1*20000*0123456789#
Any other Nigerian bank*737*2*Amount*AccountNumber#*737*2*20000*0123456789#, then pick the bank
Quick transfer menu*737*23#Menu-led version listed on GTBank's Bank 737 page

Account numbers are the 10-digit NUBAN. For other banks, the menu asks you to choose the destination bank after you dial, then shows the account name. Check the name before you confirm; a transfer to the wrong account is hard to recover, as reversing a wrong GTBank transfer explains.

Step by step, including the PIN step

  1. Dial from the phone number registered on your GTBank account. 737 needs no separate registration.
  2. Enter the full string with the amount and account number.
  3. For other banks, choose the bank from the list.
  4. Check the account name returned.
  5. Confirm. GTBank's 737 FAQ says confirmation uses your 4-digit 737 PIN or the last four digits of your active naira Mastercard; the features page says other-bank transfers ask for the last four digits of your GTBank Naira Mastercard.
  6. For larger amounts you may also be asked for a hardware token code (see below).
  7. Keep the confirmation message and the debit alert.

If you have no PIN yet, create one with *737*5#; see resetting or changing your 737 PIN.

Limits: what GTBank publishes

GTBank's two official 737 pages do not agree on the daily limit, so here is exactly what each says (both undated, read in October 2026):

Bank737 features page
"Daily transfer limit: N1,000,000." Transfers of ₦100 to ₦500,000 can be confirmed with the 737 PIN or a hardware token; ₦500,001 to ₦1,000,000 need a hardware token only. A one-off indemnity is required above ₦100,000.
Bank737 FAQ
"A daily cumulative limit of N200,000 is allowed for transfers to GTBank and other bank accounts."
GTWorld apps page
After a transaction PIN change, third-party transfers are capped at ₦125,000 a day for 48 hours.

The safest reading is that ₦200,000 a day is what most customers without a token and indemnity can expect, and higher figures need extra authentication. Confirm your own limit with GTConnect before relying on 737 for a large payment. Account tier also matters; see GTBank daily transfer limits by tier.

The one-off indemnity and the hardware token

Two extra steps appear on the features page for larger amounts. First, a one-off indemnity is needed before you can send more than ₦100,000 to another bank by USSD. An indemnity is a signed undertaking that you accept responsibility for transactions on the channel; GTBank does not describe on that page how to sign it, so ask at a branch or through GTConnect. Second, from ₦500,001 up to ₦1,000,000, only a hardware token code is accepted, not the 737 PIN. If you do not have a token, see the GTBank internet banking token. Without both, plan to split larger payments across days or use GTWorld.

The features page also notes that for GTBank-to-GTBank transfers the recipient's phone must be registered with GTBank. If a same-bank transfer is refused for no obvious reason, that detail may be the cause.

What it costs

GTBank's 737 FAQ says "The charge for GTBank transfer is ₦20 & ₦50 for other Banks transfer per transaction", but the short-code table on the same page lists ₦80 for other-bank transfers. Because the page contradicts itself, check the charge in your debit alert after your first transfer, or ask GTConnect. For comparison, the CBN Guide to Charges (effective 1 January 2020) caps electronic transfer charges at ₦10 below ₦5,000, ₦25 from ₦5,000 to ₦50,000 and ₦50 above ₦50,000, and says USSD transfers follow prevailing NIP charges.

Separately, from 1 January 2026 a ₦50 stamp duty applies to electronic transfers of ₦10,000 or more and is deducted from the sender (Techeconomy, 1 January 2026); transfers below ₦10,000 are exempt.

Worked example: total cost of one transfer

Example only. Amaka sends ₦75,000 to an account at another bank with *737*2*75000*0123456789#. Using the CBN 2020 maximum of ₦50 for a transfer above ₦50,000, plus the ₦50 stamp duty because the amount is ₦10,000 or more, the most she should expect is ₦75,000 + ₦50 + ₦50 = ₦75,100 leaving her account, before any telco session charge. If the bank applies the ₦80 shown in the FAQ table instead, the total would be ₦75,000 + ₦80 + ₦50 = ₦75,130. Her alert will show which.

What to check first

  • The account name shown matches the person you intend to pay.
  • The amount is within today's remaining limit.
  • You have network signal; a dropped session mid-transfer may still have gone through, so check your balance before repeating it.
  • If debited but the recipient has not been credited, see failed GTBank transactions not reversed.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme customers send naira to any Nigerian bank from the app; see sending money with Pryme. The fee is shown before you approve.

Questions people ask

What is the GTBank transfer code to other banks?

Dial *737*2*Amount*AccountNumber# from your registered number, choose the bank, check the name and confirm with your 737 PIN or card digits.

What is the GTBank USSD transfer limit per day?

GTBank's 737 FAQ says ₦200,000 a day; its features page says ₦1,000,000, with amounts above ₦500,000 needing a hardware token. Confirm your own limit with GTConnect.

How much does GTBank charge for USSD transfer?

The 737 FAQ lists ₦20 to GTBank and ₦50 to other banks, but its table lists ₦80 for other banks. Check your debit alert; a ₦50 stamp duty also applies to transfers of ₦10,000 or more.

Can I transfer from GTBank to Opay or Moniepoint with *737#?

Yes, if the provider appears in the bank list when you dial *737*2*Amount*AccountNumber#. Check the account name before confirming.
