Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Bills

Buy Glo data from your bank app or USSD

The bank USSD codes that sell Glo data, the daily limits and charges the banks publish, and what to do when a data purchase fails but you are debited.

The short answer

Most banks sell Glo data through their USSD menus and apps: GTBank lists *737*4#, FirstBank *894*2# for your own line, and Keystone *7111*5#. Banks set daily caps, such as GTBank's ₦10,000 airtime and data recharge limit, and if you are debited but no data arrives, keep the reference and contact your bank first.

Buying Glo data straight from your bank account saves a trip for a recharge card and works when you have run out of airtime. Every bank has its own code and menu, and the plans on offer are set by Glo. This guide lists what the banks' own pages say, the limits that can block a purchase, and what to do when it fails.

Bank USSD codes for data

Dial from the phone number linked to your bank account. The table uses each bank's own page; most of these pages are undated, so menus can change.

BankData codeLimits or charges on the page
GTBank*737*4#Airtime and data daily recharge limit ₦10,000 on the 737 features page; no charge stated there
FirstBank*894*2# (own line), *894*2*PhoneNumber# (another line)No limits or charges listed
Zenith Bank*966*Amount*MobileNumber#Covers airtime and data; airtime limit ₦3,000 a day; service free but network charges apply
Keystone Bank*7111*5#Airtime limit ₦10,000 a day; no charge listed

After dialling, choose Glo as the network, pick the bundle and confirm with your USSD PIN. The screen shows the plan and price before you confirm.

Buying data for another Glo number

FirstBank's page gives a separate string with the recipient's number. In most other menus, the option appears after you choose data. Read the number back before confirming; data sent to the wrong line is hard to recover.

Using a bank app or wallet app

  1. Open the app and go to Airtime and Data or Bills.
  2. Choose Data, then Glo.
  3. Enter the number, or pick your own.
  4. Select the plan; the app shows the price and validity.
  5. Approve with your PIN or biometrics, and keep the receipt.

Apps often show more of Glo's plans than USSD menus do, because the screen can list more options. PalmPay's App Store listing, for example, names GLO Campus among its data products. Compare the plan in your app with the list on Glo's own data plans page, and check Glo data plans and current prices.

Glo's own route

You can also buy data from airtime by dialling *312#, the NCC's harmonised code for data plans on every network. That uses airtime rather than your bank balance. To check what you have afterwards, the harmonised data balance code is *323#; checking your Glo data balance covers all the routes.

When a purchase fails

The common cases, and what to do:

What happenedLikely reasonWhat to do
Purchase declined, no debitDaily limit reached, wrong PIN, or menu timed outCheck your bank's limit; try a smaller plan or the app
Debited, no data, no SMS from GloPayment did not reach Glo or is pendingWait a short while, check data balance, then contact your bank with the reference
Debited, Glo SMS received, data not workingData arrived; the problem is the connectionCheck settings and coverage; see Glo data not working
Data went to the wrong numberTyping errorContact your bank and Glo with the receipt; reversal is not assured

Banks usually reverse a failed bill or airtime payment, but timelines differ. If your bank does not resolve it, the CBN and the NCC have consulted on joint rules for failed airtime and data purchases; see failed airtime and data purchases: the CBN–NCC draft rules. For problems on Glo's side, Glo data deducted wrongly explains how to ask for a refund.

What to check first

  • The phone you dial from is the one registered to your bank account
  • You have not hit the bank's daily airtime and data limit
  • The recipient number and network are right
  • The plan's price and validity on screen match what you meant to buy

Keeping USSD purchases safe

Bank USSD works on the phone number linked to your account, so anyone with your phone and your USSD PIN can buy data or airtime with your money. Use a PIN that is not your birth year, do not share it, and if your phone is lost, ask your bank to block USSD banking on the number straight away. FirstBank, for example, lists *894*911# to deactivate a number on its USSD service. Our guide to USSD banking fraud explains the common tricks.

Bank-sold data is the same product Glo sells directly. If the price or validity in your bank's menu does not match Glo's, buy the plan you can see clearly and keep the receipt.

One more practical point: if you buy data for a child or relative regularly, save their number as a beneficiary in your bank app. It removes the risk of a mistyped digit, and the purchase history in the app gives you a record of how much you spend on their data each month.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme sells airtime and data in the app through airtime and data, with the price shown before you approve and a receipt for every purchase. Approvals use a transaction PIN, set up under security.

Questions people ask

How do I buy Glo data with GTBank code?

Dial *737*4# from the number registered to your GTBank account, choose Glo and pick a plan. GTBank's 737 features page sets a ₦10,000 daily airtime and data limit.

What is the FirstBank code to buy Glo data?

FirstBank lists *894*2# for your own line and *894*2*PhoneNumber# for another line.

I bought Glo data from my bank but did not receive it. What do I do?

Check your data balance with *323#. If no data arrived, keep the transaction reference and contact your bank first; banks usually reverse failed purchases.

Can I buy Glo data for another person with USSD?

Yes on most bank menus. FirstBank gives *894*2*PhoneNumber#; other banks show the option after you choose data. Check the number before confirming.
