Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Ghana

How do I report lost Nigerian documents to police in Ghana?

Lost your Nigerian passport or ID in Ghana? Report it at a Ghana Police station, get a written report, then replace the document through the Accra mission.

The short answer

Report the loss at the Ghana Police Service station covering the area where it happened and ask for a written police report or extract that names the document and, if you have it, its number. Nigerian missions ask for a police report before they replace a lost passport or issue an Emergency Travel Certificate, and they charge extra for lost passports, so keep the original report and copies.

Why the police report comes first

A Nigerian passport that is lost or stolen abroad cannot simply be renewed. The mission needs evidence that the old booklet is no longer in your hands, so that it can be cancelled and a new one issued without two valid passports in circulation. Nigerian missions that publish their requirements make this explicit. The Embassy in Washington DC asks for a police report, and the lost passport's data page if available, for an Emergency Travel Certificate. The High Commission in Ottawa asks for a police report and a birth certificate where the passport is lost. The High Commission in Accra's own Lost But Found Passport page says only that you should contact its Immigration Desk if your passport is lost (immigration@nigerianhcaccra.org, 023 911 4161, 10am to 4pm) and that it will tell you if a passport is found and handed in. It does not list replacement documents, so expect it to ask for a police report as other missions do, and confirm with the desk.

Step by step in Ghana

  1. Go to the nearest police station to where the loss or theft happened, as soon as you can. If you do not know where, use the station nearest your home.
  2. Explain what was lost: Nigerian passport, NIN slip, driver's licence, Non-citizen Ghana Card, bank cards. List each one.
  3. Give identifying details: passport number, date of issue, full name as printed. A photocopy or phone photo of the data page helps.
  4. Ask for a written report. In Ghana this is often called a police extract. Ask that it name each document and its number.
  5. Note the station, the officer's name and any reference number, and ask whether there is a charge for the report. We could not open an official Ghana Police Service page setting a fee for this service in October 2026.
  6. Make copies of the report before you hand anything over.

Replacing the Nigerian passport from Accra

Replacement follows the normal online application at passport.immigration.gov.ng, with Accra as the processing office, plus the extra lost-passport requirements. Missions that publish fees add a charge for a lost passport: Ottawa lists a C$400 caution fee and Atlanta an extra $370. The Accra mission's pages we read show no lost-passport fee, so ask the Immigration Desk. Bring:

  • The police report (original and copy).
  • A copy of the lost passport's data page, if you have one.
  • Your NIN, because the new application is verified against it.
  • Your birth certificate or other proof of citizenship if the mission asks for it.
  • Your Ghanaian residence documents, if any, so the mission can see your status.

If you must travel before a new passport is ready, ask about an Emergency Travel Certificate. It is a one-way document back to Nigeria; see our ETC guide for Accra. For timing, see how long a passport takes in Accra.

Other documents

Lost itemWho replaces itPolice report useful?
Nigerian passportNIS via the Accra missionYes, required by missions
NIN slipNIMC diaspora partner (slip re-issue)Not usually; your NIN does not change
Non-citizen Ghana CardGhana's identification authorityAsk the issuing office
Nigerian driver's licenceFRSC in NigeriaAsk FRSC
Bank cardsYour bankRarely; block immediately

Your NIN stays the same for life, so a lost slip is a re-print, not a new registration; NIMC's fees reported in May 2025 put a diaspora slip re-issue in Africa at $6.

If the documents were stolen rather than lost

Theft adds a fraud risk. A Nigerian passport and NIN slip together are enough for a criminal to attempt to open accounts or SIM lines in your name. After the police report:

  • Tell your Nigerian banks that your ID was stolen and ask them to flag your accounts.
  • Watch your Nigerian SIM for unexpected swap messages and tell the network if one arrives.
  • Keep the police report reference; a bank or network will ask for it if a dispute arises later.
  • If you later receive notice of an account or loan you did not open, report it to the institution in writing and quote the police report.

Write the date and time you discovered the loss on your own copy of the report. If a dispute comes up months later, that timeline matters more than anything else.

Keep a copy set for next time

Most of the stress of a lost passport comes from not knowing its number. Keep a photo of each data page and your NIN slip somewhere you can reach without your phone, such as a family member's email. It also helps with a police clearance application later.

Where Pryme fits

If your phone went with the passport, a Pryme account uses an authenticator app and transaction PIN, not SMS codes, so access can be restored without your old SIM. See security.

Questions people ask

What do I need to replace a lost Nigerian passport in Ghana?

A police report from the Ghana Police Service, a copy of the lost data page if you have one, your NIN and a new online application with Accra as processing office. Missions charge extra for lost passports.

Is there a fee for a police report in Ghana?

We could not find an official Ghana Police Service page with a fee. Ask at the station and get a receipt for anything you pay.

Can I travel to Nigeria without my lost passport?

Ask the High Commission about an Emergency Travel Certificate, a one-way document. Missions ask for a police report for it.

Do I need a police report for a lost NIN slip?

Not usually. Your NIN does not change; you request a slip re-issue from a NIMC partner.
