Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Canada

Funding a Remitly transfer to Nigeria with Interac

Remitly Canada accepts Interac e-Transfer for Nigeria sends. How it affects the rate, the promo on your first CAD 500, speed, and your bank's limits.

The short answer

Yes. Remitly Canada lists Interac e-Transfer as a way to pay for transfers to Nigeria, and its pricing page says the exchange rates it shows apply when you pay by bank account or Interac e-Transfer. Its fastest option, Express, is tied to debit and credit cards where available, so Interac suits you when the rate matters more than minutes. Your bank's Interac limits still cap how much you can fund.

What Remitly's Canadian pages say

Remitly's Canada to Nigeria pages, read in October 2026, list these ways to pay: debit, prepaid and credit cards, bank account, and Interac e-Transfer. Payouts in Nigeria are bank deposit, cash pickup and mobile wallet, in naira.

  • The pricing page says: "Any FX rate shown applies when you pay by Bank account or Interac e-Transfer."
  • It adds that "the payment method you choose may affect the speed of your transfer and the associated fees".
  • The Nigeria page names "Express" as an option with debit or credit card where available.
  • On fees, the pricing page showed "Enjoy no fees on all transfers" with a dash for the fee when we checked.

Why Interac can matter for the rate

The rate shown on Remitly's page is tied to bank account or Interac funding. If you pay by card, the rate or fee in your quote may be different. That is why the payment method is worth testing in the app: enter the same amount, switch between Interac and card, and compare the naira amount the receiver will get.

The first-transfer promotion

Remitly's pricing page offers a promotional rate for new customers: "New customers only. One per customer. Limited time offer." and "Promotional FX rate applies to first CAD 500.00 sent." On a first transfer of CAD 800, only the first CAD 500 gets the promotional rate; the remaining CAD 300 is converted at the standard rate. Do not use the first quote as a guide to later transfers.

Speed

Remitly does not publish exact Interac delivery times on these pages. It says delivery can depend on the payment method, transaction review and system availability, and that the app shows an estimate. Its pricing page promises that transfers "will be delivered on time, or we'll refund your fees". In practice, card-funded Express is designed for speed; Interac may take longer to clear. If your family needs money within the hour, check the delivery estimate for each payment method before you choose.

Limits: yours, your bank's, Remitly's

Your bank's Interac limit
Your bank caps how much you can send by Interac per transaction and per day. A large Remitly transfer may need more than one day or a different funding method. See Interac limits for remittance apps.
Remitly's own limits
"We limit how much you can send in 24 hours, 30 days, and 180 days." Limits vary with verification level, delivery method and destination.
Receiver's account
A Tier 1 Nigerian account has low caps; check the receiver's account can take the amount.

Steps to fund with Interac

  1. Start the transfer in the Remitly app and choose Nigeria.
  2. Enter the amount and select Interac e-Transfer as the payment method.
  3. Check the rate, fee, naira amount and delivery estimate.
  4. Follow the app's instructions to complete the Interac payment from your own bank account. Use an account in your own name.
  5. Keep the confirmation and the reference number.

If the payment is not matched to your transfer, contact Remitly through the app rather than sending a second e-Transfer. For the full process, see sending with Remitly from Canada; for costs, Remitly's Canada to Nigeria fees.

Common Interac snags

  • Sending from someone else's account: use a Canadian bank account in your own name. A payment from a spouse's or friend's account may not be matched and can trigger a review.
  • Typing the wrong amount: the Interac payment should match the transfer amount shown in the app. If it does not, contact Remitly before sending anything else.
  • Bank holds on a new payee: some banks pause or limit the first e-Transfer to a new contact. If your bank asks you to confirm, do so through its own app.
  • Hitting the daily cap: if your bank's Interac limit is lower than the amount, ask the bank about a temporary increase, or fund part by debit card. See raising your bank's limits.
  • Timing: an e-Transfer sent late at night or at the weekend may take longer to reach Remitly, which delays the transfer.

If the receiver needs the money quickly and your Interac payment is slow to clear, ask Remitly support what it can see before you send a second payment, so you do not pay twice.

Interac or card?

  • Interac: the funding route Remitly ties its shown rate to; no card cash-advance risk; subject to your bank's e-Transfer limits.
  • Debit card: eligible for Express where available; subject to your card's daily limit.
  • Credit card: FCAC says issuers often treat money transfers like wires and money orders as cash advances, with a fee and immediate interest.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme's Swap shows the rate and the fee on separate lines before you approve. See how sending works.

Questions people ask

Is the Remitly rate better with Interac?

Is Remitly Express available with Interac?

Remitly's page ties Express to debit and credit cards where available, not Interac.

How much of my first transfer gets Remitly's promo rate?

The first CAD 500 sent, for new customers only.
