Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Canada

Getting a driving experience letter from FRSC for Canada

What Canadian provinces want as proof of Nigerian driving years, and how to use FRSC and the Ottawa High Commission's licence authentication.

The short answer

Canadian provinces want proof that your Nigerian licence is authentic and of how long you have driven. Ontario asks for an official letter from the government or agency that issued the licence, in English or French. The Nigeria High Commission in Ottawa authenticates original FRSC-issued licences for use in Canada for CAD $100, with standard processing of 15 business days. FRSC's website did not describe a separate driving-record letter service when we checked in October 2026, so confirm with your province which proof it will accept before paying for any letter.

Why the letter matters

Nigeria has no licence exchange agreement with Ontario, Alberta or Manitoba, so Nigerian drivers take tests in each. What a letter changes is how much of your Nigerian experience counts. A Nigerian licence card often shows only its latest issue date. If you renewed last year, an examiner looking at the card alone may see one year of driving, not ten.

ProvinceWhat it says about proofWhat is at stake
OntarioOriginal valid licence plus an official letter from the foreign government or agency that issued it, confirming it is authentic, in English or FrenchCredit for up to one year of experience (from 1 July 2026)
AlbertaThe licences you surrender must prove your experience; proof is judged against the Minimum Acceptance Standards in its GDL Exemption User Guide, and some jurisdictions need more evidenceFull Class 5 with 2+ years proven; Class 5 GDL with fewer than 24 months
ManitobaOriginal licence surrendered and checked for authenticity; may ask for a validity document or abstractIf not authentic, prior experience is not accepted and you enter GDL, with no appeal

Sources: Ontario (updated 23 September 2026), Alberta (published 4 August 2026) and MPI (modified 29 September 2026). Each province decides what it accepts, so ask its licensing office before you order anything from Nigeria.

Route 1: authentication by the High Commission in Ottawa

The Nigeria High Commission in Ottawa says it provides authentication for Nigerian driver's licences for use in Canada. Its page sets out the following:

  • Eligible licences: only original FRSC-issued licences. Laminated, temporary and international licences are not accepted.
  • Expired licences: must be confirmed with the Drive Centre for validity before you send them.
  • Request letter: signed by you, with your current address and phone number.
  • The licence: a legible copy, and the original to be sighted and returned.
  • Passport: a copy of your Nigerian passport's biodata page and the page showing your last entry into Canada.
  • Return envelope: a self-addressed Canada Post Priority or Xpresspost envelope with tracking and signature on delivery; buy the signature option from Canada Post.
  • Fee: CAD $100 by money order or bank draft payable to Nigeria High Commission.
  • Time: standard processing of 15 business days.

You post the package to the High Commission at 295 Metcalfe Street, Ottawa, ON K2P 1R9. Questions go to consularsecretary@nigeriahcottawa.ca or +1 (343) 688-1061. Contact details and opening hours are in our guide to the Nigeria High Commission in Ottawa.

One point to settle first: Ontario's wording is a letter "from the foreign government or agency that issued the driver's licence". The High Commission is part of the Nigerian government but did not issue the licence. Ask DriveTest whether it accepts the High Commission's authentication for experience credit before you send CAD $100 and wait three weeks.

Route 2: a record from FRSC itself

The Federal Road Safety Corps issues Nigerian driving licences. When we checked its website in October 2026, the home page described driver's licence services only as a process for obtaining and renewing licences; it did not describe a driving history or verification letter for use abroad, and its online services links did not lead anywhere. We could not confirm an official FRSC procedure, fee or timeline for such a letter, so treat anything you are quoted as unverified until FRSC confirms it in writing.

If your province wants a letter from the issuing authority, a practical approach is:

  1. Contact the FRSC office or licensing centre where your licence was first issued or last renewed, by phone or through a trusted relative who can visit.
  2. Ask in writing for a letter on official letterhead confirming your licence number, the date you were first licensed, your licence class, and that the licence is authentic.
  3. Ask for the letter in English, signed and stamped, with a contact the Canadian office can verify.
  4. Pay only through official channels and keep the receipt. Be wary of agents offering to "process" a letter for a fee; a letter that fails a provincial authenticity check can cost you your experience credit.
  5. Have the original letter sent by tracked courier, and keep a scan.

Build your evidence before you need it

The strongest file combines the documents you already have. Keep every old licence card, not just the current one; Alberta asks you to surrender expired licences as well, and an old card may be the only proof of your first licensed date. Keep your current card original, never laminated. Photograph both sides of each card before you surrender anything, because Alberta and Manitoba do not return them.

What to check first

  1. Which province are you licensing in, and what proof does its office accept?
  2. Is your licence original and FRSC-issued, not laminated or temporary?
  3. If it has expired, has it been confirmed with the Drive Centre?
  4. Do you still have your older licence cards?
  5. Have you budgeted CAD $100 and about three weeks for the High Commission route?

Province guides: Ontario, Alberta and Manitoba.

Questions people ask

Does FRSC issue driving experience letters for Canada?

FRSC's website did not describe such a service when we checked in October 2026. Contact the FRSC office that issued your licence and get any letter on official letterhead, signed and stamped.

How much does the Nigeria High Commission in Ottawa charge to authenticate a licence?

CAD $100 by money order or bank draft, with a standard processing time of 15 business days, according to its page.

Will Ontario accept the High Commission authentication?

Ontario asks for a letter from the government or agency that issued the licence. Ask DriveTest whether it accepts the High Commission's authentication before you apply.

Can I authenticate a laminated Nigerian licence?

No. The High Commission accepts only original FRSC-issued licences and says laminated, temporary and international licences are not accepted.
