Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

'Account manager' forex offers in Nigeria: red flags

"Send $500, I will trade it, we split profit 50/50." How account manager schemes work, why guaranteed returns are impossible, and what to check.

The short answer

An "account manager" forex offer asks you to fund an account or send money so someone else can trade it, usually with a promised weekly or monthly return and a profit split. No trader can guarantee returns, and a return of 20% a month would turn $1,000 into about $8,916 in a year, so a fixed promise is either untrue or paid from new money. ISA 2025 lists Ponzi schemes as prohibited, with penalties of not less than ₦20 million and/or 10 years' imprisonment.

The pitch usually arrives on Instagram, WhatsApp or Telegram: screenshots of profits, a lifestyle feed, and a simple offer. "You fund, I trade, we share." Some of these are outright fraud; some are inexperienced traders gambling with other people's money. Either way, the structure puts all the risk on you.

How the scheme works

Version 1: you give them your login

  1. You open an account with a broker the "manager" names, often an offshore one.
  2. You deposit, then send the manager your login so they can trade.
  3. They trade at high leverage. A few good days are shown as proof.
  4. The account either blows up, or the manager asks you to pay their "share" up front before you withdraw.

Version 2: you send them the money

  1. You transfer naira or crypto to the manager or a third party.
  2. You are shown a dashboard or screenshots with your "balance" growing.
  3. Early investors are paid, which brings in referrals.
  4. Withdrawals then require "fees", "tax", "account upgrade" or a waiting period, and eventually stop.

Version 2 is the classic pattern of a Ponzi scheme: returns to earlier investors are paid from later deposits. Our guide to Ponzi and investment scams in Nigeria covers the wider pattern.

Why a guaranteed return is impossible

Trading results depend on prices no one controls. Regulators in Europe found 74 to 89% of retail CFD accounts typically lose money (ESMA, 2018), and that is with leverage caps the offshore brokers used in these schemes do not apply.

The compounding test is just as clear. Example only:

Promised monthly return$1,000 after 12 months
10%about $3,138
20%about $8,916
30%about $23,298

A trader who could reliably make 20% a month would not need strangers' $1,000 deposits. The promise only makes sense if it is not true, or if the money comes from somewhere other than trading. We work through this in why 30% monthly cannot be real.

Red flags

  • A fixed or "guaranteed" weekly or monthly percentage.
  • A request for your trading account password, or for you to switch off two-factor authentication.
  • Payment to a personal account, a relative, or a crypto wallet rather than to a regulated firm.
  • Upfront "profit share", "tax", "insurance" or "release" fees before you can withdraw.
  • Pressure to deposit more to reach a "VIP" level.
  • Proof that is only screenshots, which can be edited or come from demo accounts.
  • Referral bonuses for bringing in friends.

The scripts to recognise

"Minimum capital $300, 40% weekly"
A fixed return on a small deposit. No regulated manager promises this.
"Profit is ready, pay 20% commission first"
An upfront fee to release money that may not exist. Real profit shares are deducted, not paid in advance.
"Your account has been flagged, pay to verify"
A follow-up to extract more money after the first loss.
"I trade for a big firm"
Ask for the firm's SEC registration and contact it directly, not through the person.
"Just a trial, send ₦50,000 and watch it grow"
Small first wins build trust before a larger deposit is requested.

If someone recovers lost money "for a fee" after a scam, treat that as a second scam. Recovery services that charge upfront are a common follow-on.

What the law says

Managing other people's money for a return is a regulated activity. Under the Investments and Securities Act 2025, section 357 lists Ponzi and pyramid schemes among prohibited schemes, and a legal review by The Trusted Advisors gives the penalty as "not less than N20,000,000 and/or an imprisonment term of 10 years". Section 196 lets the SEC ask a court to freeze and forfeit such schemes' assets. Separately, the SEC said in April 2025 that running an online forex platform without registration is an offence.

A real fund manager also gives you documents: a mandate setting out what they may do with your money, regular statements from a custodian you can contact yourself, and a fee schedule. If all you have is a WhatsApp chat and screenshots, you have no claim you can easily enforce.

What to check first

  1. Ask for the manager's or company's SEC registration and search it on the SEC's Find a Registered Operator page.
  2. Ask what happens if the account loses money. If the answer is "it won't", walk away.
  3. Never share a login, password, PIN or authenticator code with anyone.
  4. If you have already paid, stop sending money, save every message and receipt, and report to your bank and the SEC.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme account uses an authenticator app and a transaction PIN, and nothing moves without your approval; see security. Before any transfer, check the recipient name shown on send money, and treat a personal account for an "investment" as a warning.

This is general information, not legal or investment advice.

Questions people ask

Is forex account management legit in Nigeria?

Managing money for others is a regulated activity. Ask for SEC registration and check it on the SEC register; promised fixed returns are a red flag for a prohibited scheme.

Can a forex trader guarantee 20% monthly?

No. Trading results cannot be guaranteed, and 20% a month would turn $1,000 into about $8,916 in a year, which no one could sustain reliably.

Should I give my broker login to an account manager?

No. Sharing a login gives full control of your money to someone with no legal duty to you, and may break the broker's terms.

What should I do if a forex account manager has my money?

Stop paying any further fees, save all evidence, contact your bank about the transfers, and report to the SEC and the police.
