Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

How to open a Fidelity Bank account online

The online routes Fidelity Bank offers for personal, business and diaspora accounts, the documents for each tier, and what happens after you get a number.

The short answer

Open a Fidelity personal account online at eserve.fidelitybank.ng/oap, a business account at digital.fidelitybank.ng/accountopening, or a diaspora account at eserve.fidelitybank.ng/diaspora; you can also dial *770*01# from your phone. What you can do with the account depends on its tier: Fidelity's Tier 1 caps the balance at ₦300,000, while Tier 2 needs valid ID and BVN, and Tier 3 adds a utility bill.

The routes Fidelity offers

Fidelity Bank's website links several ways to open an account without starting at a branch. We checked them in October 2026.

AccountOnline routeNotes
Personal (savings or current)eserve.fidelitybank.ng/oap/Linked as "Open Personal Account"; the same portal handles dormant account reactivation
Personal, by phone*770*01#Fidelity's USSD short code for opening an account
Business (SME)digital.fidelitybank.ng/accountopening/For registered and unregistered businesses; account number generated instantly
Diasporaeserve.fidelitybank.ng/diaspora/For Nigerians living abroad; forms can also be emailed

Type fidelitybank.ng into your browser and follow the links from there. Fake account-opening pages are a common way to harvest BVNs and ID scans.

Choosing the right tier

An account's tier sets how much it can receive and hold. Fidelity's FAQ gives these figures:

TierMax single depositMax balanceWhat you provide
Tier 1₦50,000₦300,000Account form, one passport photo, data protection form
Tier 2₦100,000₦500,000Tier 1 items plus valid ID and BVN
Tier 3UnlimitedUnlimitedTier 2 items plus a utility bill

Under the CBN's December 2023 directive, as ICIR reported, new Tier 1 accounts should not be opened without a BVN or NIN. So have one of them ready even for the most basic account. If you expect salary or business income, plan for Tier 3 from the start. Our guide on linking BVN and NIN and upgrading at Fidelity covers moving up later.

Opening a personal account online: steps

  1. Go to the personal account portal from fidelitybank.ng.
  2. Choose the account type. Fidelity's range includes the Fidelity Savings Account, Easi-Save, Flex (for undergraduates, corps members and youths), SWEETA (for children, run by a parent), the Personal Savings Scheme, the High Yield Savings Account and current accounts.
  3. Enter your BVN and personal details. Use your name and date of birth exactly as on your BVN.
  4. Upload a passport photo and, for Tier 2 or 3, your ID and utility bill.
  5. Submit and note the account number.
  6. Register for *770# (dial *770#, pick a service, enter the account number, create a PIN) and download the mobile app.

What some account types need

Fidelity Savings Account
Form, passport photo, valid ID, recent utility bill; minimum operating balance ₦1,000
Easi-Save
Form, passport photo, valid ID, recent utility bill; minimum operating balance ₦1,000
Flex
Passport photo, school or NYSC ID, a reference letter from the school or the NYSC call-up letter
SWEETA (0 to 17 years)
Parent's and child's photos, birth certificate (NPC), baptismal certificate or hospital birth registration, parent's ID, recent utility bill
High Yield Savings
Passport photo, valid ID, utility bill, two references; operating balance ₦5,000

These are from Fidelity's FAQ, as at October 2026. Valid ID means a national ID card, international passport, driver's licence or voter's card.

Opening a business account online

Fidelity's SME portal generates an account number immediately, for registered and unregistered businesses. The FAQ says three account types are available there: the Fidelity Small Business Account (individual or corporate) and the Fidelity Premium Business Account, and unregistered businesses can also open the GEEP Unregistered Current Account. Two points matter:

  • The account starts as Tier 1 on Post No Debit. It can receive payments, but you cannot withdraw until you complete documentation at a branch.
  • The branch documents are a passport photo, valid ID (NIN, international passport, driver's licence or voter's card), a utility bill and a SCUML certificate if your business needs one.

The referral code field is optional; Fidelity says it is the staff ID of the employee who referred you.

From abroad

Fidelity's diaspora account needs a BVN, a passport photo, a notarised or certified ID, a proof of address from the last three months and references for current and domiciliary accounts. Accounts are available in naira, dollars, pounds and euros. If you have no BVN yet, Fidelity points to the NIBSS list of enrolment centres abroad. See Fidelity domiciliary accounts and NRBVN for Nigerians abroad.

After the account is open

Two rules in Fidelity's FAQ are worth knowing early. On most of its savings accounts, interest is not paid in a month when you make more than four withdrawals (three for the High Yield Savings Account). And current accounts become dormant after six months without activity, after which USSD enrolment and some services stop working until you reactivate. A small transaction now and then keeps the account live.

What to check first

  • Do you have your BVN or NIN, with names that match?
  • Which tier do you need for the money you expect to receive?
  • Is your phone number one you will keep? USSD and OTPs depend on it.
  • For a business, are you ready to visit a branch to lift the PND?

Where Pryme fits

Pryme Personal and Business accounts can be opened from any country, with naira held at Solid Allianze MFB; you can open one here.

Questions people ask

At minimum a form and passport photo for Tier 1, plus BVN or NIN under CBN rules. Tier 2 adds valid ID and BVN; Tier 3 adds a utility bill.
