Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to transfer with Fidelity Bank *770# to any bank

The exact *770# transfer strings Fidelity publishes, the ₦20,000 per-transaction and ₦100,000 daily caps, the PIN step and what a transfer costs.

The short answer

To transfer with Fidelity Bank USSD, dial *770*DestinationAccount*Amount# from your registered phone (add *1 before the # to include a narration), choose the recipient's bank, check the name and enter your *770# PIN. Fidelity's FAQ sets a minimum of ₦1,000, a maximum of ₦20,000 per transaction and ₦100,000 a day on the platform.

The transfer strings Fidelity publishes

Fidelity Bank's Instant Banking FAQ lists two short strings for sending money. Note the order: account number first, then amount. Some third-party lists print it the other way round, so copy from here or from the bank.

PurposeString
Transfer funds*770*DestinationAccount*Amount#
Transfer funds with a narration*770*DestinationAccount*Amount*1#
Full menu (includes transfer)*770*1#
Check your balance first*770*0#

Use the 10-digit NUBAN account number of the person you are paying and type the amount in naira without commas or the ₦ sign. For ₦15,000 to account 0123456789, the string is *770*0123456789*15000#. That is an example only; use the real account number you were given.

Step by step

  1. Use the phone whose SIM is registered on your Fidelity account. If you have never used *770#, the first dial takes you through registration: enter your account number and create a PIN.
  2. Dial the transfer string with the account number and amount filled in.
  3. Select the recipient's bank from the list the menu shows. If it is not on the first page, look for a "next" or "more" option.
  4. Read the account name the menu returns. If it is not the person you meant to pay, cancel.
  5. Add a narration if you used the *1 version, such as "rent October".
  6. Enter your *770# PIN to approve.
  7. Wait for the debit SMS and keep the reference. The recipient should be credited almost at once over the NIBSS Instant Payment system.

Limits on *770# transfers

Minimum per transfer
₦1,000
Maximum per transfer
₦20,000
Cumulative daily transfers
₦100,000
Airtime and data top-up
₦20,000 daily

These are the figures in Fidelity's FAQ, checked in October 2026. Your account tier sets a separate ceiling: Fidelity's FAQ gives a Tier 1 maximum single deposit of ₦50,000 and cumulative balance of ₦300,000, and a Tier 2 single deposit of ₦100,000 and balance of ₦500,000. To send more than ₦20,000 at once, use the mobile app or online banking, where tier and channel limits are higher. See Fidelity Bank transfer limits by tier.

What a *770# transfer costs

Three things can be deducted. First, the transfer fee. The CBN's Guide to Charges (effective 1 January 2020) says USSD transfers attract the prevailing NIBSS Instant Payment charges, and sets electronic transfer fees at up to ₦10 for amounts below ₦5,000, ₦25 for ₦5,000 to ₦50,000 and ₦50 above ₦50,000. A CBN exposure draft from April 2026 proposed lower bands, but its effective date was not stated when we checked, so look at your debit alert for the fee actually taken. Second, stamp duty: since 1 January 2026, ₦50 applies to electronic transfers of ₦10,000 or more and is deducted from the sender. Third, a USSD session charge collected for the network; see who pays the USSD charge.

Worked example

Example only. You need to pay a supplier ₦50,000 by USSD. Because the cap is ₦20,000 per transaction, you send three transfers: ₦20,000, ₦20,000 and ₦10,000. Each is ₦10,000 or more, so each attracts ₦50 stamp duty, and each falls in the ₦5,000 to ₦50,000 band, so each carries a transfer fee of up to ₦25 under the 2020 guide.

TransferAmountFee (up to)Stamp dutyTotal debit
1₦20,000₦25₦50₦20,075
2₦20,000₦25₦50₦20,075
3₦10,000₦25₦50₦10,075
Total₦50,000₦75₦150₦50,225

One app transfer of ₦50,000 would have attracted one fee and one ₦50 stamp duty: ₦50,000 + ₦25 + ₦50 = ₦50,075. Splitting a payment to fit a USSD cap multiplies the per-transaction charges, before VAT and session charges.

If the transfer fails or hangs

  • An error straight after dialling is, per Fidelity's FAQ, a network failure: check signal and retry.
  • An error at the end of the transaction means a restriction on the account; call True Serve on 0700 343 35489.
  • If you were debited but the recipient was not credited, do not send again. Report it through Fidelity's contact form under "Dispense / Transfer Errors" or call True Serve with the reference.

For PIN problems, see Fidelity *770# PIN reset, and for the whole code list, every Fidelity *770# code.

Habits that prevent USSD transfer mistakes

  • Copy the account number from a message the recipient sent you, not from memory or a blurred photo.
  • For a first payment to someone new, send ₦1,000 first and ask them to confirm it arrived before you send the rest.
  • Never dial a transfer string that someone else has typed out for you in a text or WhatsApp message; it may already contain their account number and an amount.
  • Lock your phone screen and put a PIN on your SIM, since *770# needs only the phone and your PIN.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme account shows the recipient's name and asks for your transaction PIN before any transfer moves; see sending money with Pryme.

Questions people ask

What is the Fidelity Bank transfer code to other banks?

Dial *770*DestinationAccount*Amount#, pick the recipient's bank, confirm the name and enter your PIN. Use *770*DestinationAccount*Amount*1# to add a narration.

How much can I transfer with Fidelity USSD in a day?

Fidelity's FAQ gives ₦20,000 per transaction and ₦100,000 cumulative per day, with a ₦1,000 minimum.

Why does Fidelity USSD not let me send ₦50,000?

Because the per-transaction maximum on *770# is ₦20,000. Split the payment or use the app or online banking.

Do I pay stamp duty on Fidelity USSD transfers?

Yes, if the transfer is ₦10,000 or more. Since 1 January 2026 the ₦50 stamp duty is deducted from the sender.
