Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

FCMB account restricted or PND: how to fix it

Why FCMB puts a Post No Debit (PND) or restriction on an account, who to contact, the documents that usually clear it and when to escalate.

The short answer

A Post No Debit (PND) on an FCMB account blocks money going out while still letting money come in; it is usually placed because KYC is incomplete, your BVN or NIN details do not match, the account was flagged for unusual activity, or a regulator or court ordered it. Call FCMB on 0700 329 0000 or email customerservice@fcmb.com to ask the exact reason, then provide the documents requested. If the PND comes from a court or law-enforcement order, only that order's lifting will clear it.

You try a transfer and get "account restricted", "PND" or "debit not allowed". The first job is to find out which kind of restriction it is, because the fix depends entirely on the reason. FCMB does not publish a public list of PND triggers on any page we could open, so this guide sets out the reasons that commonly apply across Nigerian banks and how each is cleared.

What a PND does

Post No Debit (PND)
No money can leave the account: no transfers, withdrawals, card payments or bills. Credits can usually still come in.
Lien
A specific amount is held and cannot be used; the rest of the balance is free.
Channel block
Only one channel is stopped, for example USSD after a suspected SIM swap, or a card after wrong PIN attempts.
Dormant status
An account with no customer-initiated activity for a long period is restricted until reactivated.

Common reasons and the usual fix

ReasonWhat usually clears it
KYC incomplete or ID expiredValid ID (NIN slip or card, international passport, driver's licence or voter's card), recent utility bill, passport photograph, updated customer information form
BVN or NIN not linked, or names/dates do not matchLink BVN and NIN; correct the record so the name and date of birth match. See linking BVN and NIN on FCMB and BVN vs NIN
Tier limit exceeded (large inflow into a low-tier account)Upgrade the account tier with ID and proof of address
Unusual or suspected fraudulent inflowExplain the source of funds with evidence: invoice, contract, sale agreement, salary letter. The bank may hold the specific amount
Customer reported a fraud or wrong transfer into your accountLien on the disputed amount until the banks resolve it
Court order, EFCC, police or regulator instructionOnly the lifting of that order clears it; the bank cannot remove it on request
DormancyReactivation with ID and a request; the CBN 2020 Guide to Charges says reactivation is free
Corporate account: expired documents or mandate issuesUpdated CAC documents, board resolution, signatory IDs

Steps to get the restriction lifted

  1. Ask for the reason in writing. Call 0700 329 0000 (or 0201 279 8800, 0201 227 2800) and follow up by email to customerservice@fcmb.com. Ask: is it a PND, a lien or a channel block, and what exactly will clear it?
  2. Gather the documents the bank names. Typical items are listed in the table above; take originals and copies.
  3. Visit your branch if asked, especially for KYC or identity mismatches. Many banks require in-person verification before lifting a PND.
  4. Get a reference number and an expected timeline.
  5. Follow up in writing if the timeline passes.

If the PND came from a third party

When a restriction comes from a court, the EFCC, the police or a regulator, FCMB is obliged to obey it and will often not give much detail. Ask the bank which authority placed it and the reference. Clearing it then means dealing with that authority, often through a lawyer. This is information, not legal advice; for a large balance, get advice from a Nigerian lawyer.

If FCMB does not respond

The CBN's Consumer Protection Department handles complaints after the bank has had a chance to resolve them. Its complaints page asks you to allow the bank two weeks, then write to the Director, Consumer Protection Department, with your contact details, the bank, account history, supporting documents and proof you complained to FCMB. TechCabal's May 2026 directory lists cpd@cbn.gov.ng. A restriction based on a lawful order is outside what the CBN complaint route can reverse.

Avoiding a restriction next time

  • Keep your ID current with the bank. When a passport or driver's licence expires, send the new one before the bank asks.
  • Make sure the name and date of birth on your BVN, NIN and FCMB record are identical, including spelling and order of names.
  • Upgrade your tier before a large expected inflow such as a property sale, loan disbursement or gratuity.
  • Keep evidence of large payments (invoices, agreements) where you can find it quickly.
  • Use the account at least occasionally so it does not drift into dormancy.

Example timeline

Example only: Tunde's account is restricted on Monday after a ₦2,400,000 inflow from a car sale into a low-tier account. He emails on Monday, takes his NIN slip, utility bill and the sale agreement to the branch on Tuesday, and the account is upgraded and released later that week. Had the restriction come from a court order, the same documents would not have helped.

Where Pryme fits

A second account at a separate institution means bills and rent can still be paid while one account is being reviewed. A Pryme personal account can be opened from any country, and its security rests on an authenticator app and transaction PIN. Pryme's naira deposits are held by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank, which is subject to the same CBN KYC rules.

Questions people ask

How do I remove PND on my FCMB account?

Ask FCMB for the exact reason by phone (0700 329 0000) and email, provide the documents requested, usually ID, utility bill and BVN/NIN linkage, and verify at your branch if asked.

Why is my FCMB account restricted?

Common reasons are incomplete KYC, BVN or NIN mismatch, a large inflow into a low-tier account, a fraud or wrong-transfer dispute, dormancy, or a court or regulator order.

Can I receive money on a PND account?

Generally yes. A PND stops debits, not credits, but money received stays locked until the restriction is lifted.

How long does FCMB take to lift PND?

FCMB does not publish a timeline. Simple KYC cases are often resolved within days once documents are in; order-based restrictions last until the order is lifted.
