Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals and follows up. Nothing leaves your account without your approval.
Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She holds dollars, pounds, euros and Naira side by side, swaps at a locked rate, pays bills in any of them and sends anywhere, asking before anything moves.

We give you a limit to spend at the shops and services you already use — and an account that works on your month while you get on with it. Dollars, pounds and euros sit beside your Naira, and an assistant handles the running of it, asking you first every single time.
One global account for your money and business. Move across currencies, automate everyday operations and put AI agents to work — with you in control of every important decision.

BruceCareYour competitor down the road sells the same thing you sell. The difference is who walks in. We put money in people’s hands that can only be spent in businesses like yours — and then we point them at you.
You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

No card, no OTP, nothing for the buyer to type in. They transfer from the bank app they already use, and the money lands in the same account your agents are running — already matched to the order, already in your books.
We give the buyer a one-time account number. They transfer to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

The difference between Nigeria's BVN and NIN: who issues each, what they are used for, which accounts need both, and who is allowed to ask for them.
Part of the guideIs your money safe in a Nigerian fintech?
Your BVN is a banking identifier issued through your bank and managed by NIBSS for the financial sector; your NIN is your national identity number, issued by NIMC and used across government and private services. Banks and licensed fintechs may ask for either to open a basic account and must have both for Tier 2 and Tier 3 accounts; outside finance, only organisations with a lawful reason, such as telecoms, passport offices and employers, should ask for your NIN.
Nigerians are asked for both numbers so often that they blur together. They are different records, held by different bodies, for different purposes, and the rules on who may see them differ too. This article explains each and sits under our guide is your money safe in a Nigerian fintech?
| BVN | NIN | |
|---|---|---|
| Full name | Bank Verification Number | National Identification Number |
| Issued by | Your bank, under the CBN's BVN framework | National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) |
| Database held by | Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) | NIMC |
| Format | 11 digits | 11 digits |
| Linked to | Fingerprints and face, and your bank accounts | Fingerprints, face and demographic details in the national identity database |
| Who may enrol | Adults aged 18 and over (from 1 May 2026) | Citizens and legal residents, including children |
| Main use | Identifying you across the banking system | Identifying you to government and regulated private services |
| Who may access the record | CBN-licensed financial institutions, or others only with CBN approval | Licensed NIMC partners and verification agents, through approved channels |
The headline difference: the BVN is a financial-sector record, and access is restricted to licensed financial institutions. The NIN is the national identity record, used across sectors, and verified through NIMC's licensed partners.
Since a CBN circular of 1 December 2023, no new account or wallet may be opened without a BVN or NIN. The rule applies by KYC tier:
Funded Tier 1 accounts that carried neither number were restricted from 1 March 2024. If you have an old account with only one number attached, adding the other is what lets you move to a higher tier. Our explainer on KYC tiers and limits sets out the limits at each level.
Under the CBN's addendum to the BVN framework, effective 1 May 2026, access to BVN data is limited to CBN-licensed financial institutions, with exceptions only where the CBN approves them under existing law. In practice that means banks, microfinance banks, payment service banks, mobile money operators and other licensed payment providers, plus apps that verify through one of them. Many lookups now also require your consent through NIBSS's iGree layer, confirmed with a one-time code sent to your BVN-linked phone.
A wider group can lawfully ask: telecoms operators, the immigration service, tax and pension bodies, employers and schools, as well as financial institutions. They should verify it through NIMC's approved channels, not by photocopying your slip and storing it. In June 2024 NIMC blacklisted several unlicensed websites that had been selling NIN lookups, and said licensed partners may not scan or store NIN slips.
NIMC offers a virtual NIN (vNIN), a 16-character token you generate for a specific organisation. It can be used once and expires after 72 hours, so the organisation can verify you without keeping your actual NIN. You generate it in the NIMC mobile app, or by USSD using a code in the format *346*3*your NIN*the organisation's agent code#, from the phone number registered with your NIN.
Where an organisation accepts a vNIN, prefer it. If it is copied or leaked, it is useless within three days.
Because banks must pull your details electronically and stop onboarding when they do not match, small differences cause real problems. A name spelled one way on your BVN and another on your NIN, a swapped day and month in your date of birth, or a missing middle name can block an upgrade or a new account. Fixing it means correcting the record at source: through your bank for the BVN, and through NIMC for the NIN.
Phone numbers matter too. Under the 2026 BVN rules, the number linked to your BVN can be changed only once, and one-time codes for consent go to that number. Using the same stable number for both records means codes reach you, and makes it harder for anyone else to receive them. If you are about to change networks or let a SIM lapse, update your records first.
Bisi is 24 and opening her first account in an app. Here is how each number is used.
At no point does anyone call her to collect a number. Every entry happens inside the app, at her request. If a request ever comes from outside that flow, our guide on whether it is safe to share your BVN covers the common scams.
Pryme asks for your BVN and/or NIN when you open a Naira account in Nigeria, in line with CBN rules, which also require these numbers to be verified electronically against the official databases rather than typed in by staff. Verification is tiered: the more you verify, the more the account can do, and what each level asks for, and its limits, are shown in the app before you move up. See the multicurrency account for the currencies the account holds. Personal and Business accounts can be opened from any country, which suits people in the diaspora, freelancers and foreign firms; Savings Boxes and credit remain Naira-only. If you apply for Spaces credit, the lender, Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Ltd, draws on Nigeria's licensed credit bureaus, so repaying on time helps build a credit history.

No. The BVN is a banking identifier managed by NIBSS for the financial sector. The NIN is your national identity number, issued by NIMC. Both are 11 digits, which is why they are often confused.
Yes, for a Tier 1 account. CBN rules allow a BVN or NIN for Tier 1, but Tier 2 and Tier 3 accounts need both.
CBN-licensed financial institutions, and apps verifying through one, when you open or upgrade an account or apply for credit. Others need CBN approval. A shop, landlord or employer has no reason to ask for it.
A 16-character token generated from your NIN for one organisation. It can be used once and expires after 72 hours, so you can be verified without handing over the NIN itself.
No. From 1 May 2026 BVN enrolment is limited to people aged 18 and over. Children can be enrolled for a NIN.
