Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Buying land in Osogbo from abroad: verify at the Osun registry

How diaspora buyers can verify a plot in Osogbo: registry search, survey charting, family land risks and working with a lawyer remotely.

The short answer

Before paying for land in Osogbo from abroad, have your own lawyer search the title at the Osun State lands registry, get a registered surveyor to chart the plot at the Surveyor-General's office, and confirm the family or seller has authority to sell. Under the Land Use Act a statutory right of occupancy cannot be transferred without the Governor's consent, so check consent on earlier sales too.

Why buying from abroad needs a different approach

Buying a plot in Osogbo while you live in London, Houston or Toronto means you cannot walk the land, sit with the family that is selling it or queue at the registry yourself. Most diaspora losses do not come from bad luck. They come from paying on the strength of photos, a WhatsApp video and a relative's assurance, before anyone has checked the title at the Osun State lands registry. The fix is to separate three jobs: someone you trust to look at the land, a professional to check the records, and a payment route that only releases money when the checks are done.

The documents you should see

Survey plan
A plan of the plot by a registered surveyor, with coordinates and the surveyor's seal. You can check the surveyor on the Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON) website.
Certificate of Occupancy (C of O)
The Osun State Government's grant of a statutory right of occupancy. If the land has one, ask for a copy and search it at the registry.
Governor's consent
Under section 22 of the Land Use Act, a statutory right of occupancy cannot be assigned without the Governor's consent. If the seller bought from someone else, ask for evidence of consent on that earlier sale.
Deed of assignment or family conveyance
The document that transfers the land to you. For family land it should be signed by the family head and principal members.
Receipts
Evidence the seller paid for the land, if they bought it.

Steps to verify a plot in Osogbo

  1. Get copies of every document from the seller, by email, before you pay anything beyond a small refundable deposit.
  2. Instruct a lawyer in Osogbo to conduct a search at the Osun State lands registry. A registry search shows who the registered holder is and whether there are encumbrances such as mortgages, cautions or government acquisition; law firm Adeola Oyinlade & Co notes that only registered land can be verified this way.
  3. Chart the survey through a registered surveyor at the Office of the Surveyor-General, to confirm the coordinates match the land on the ground and do not fall inside a government acquisition, road or another title.
  4. Check for disputes: a litigation search at the court registry, a charge search at the Corporate Affairs Commission if a company is selling, and a probate search if the land came from a deceased owner.
  5. Physical inspection: have someone you trust, other than the seller's agent, visit the plot, check the beacons and talk to neighbours about who owns it.
  6. Confirm family authority for family land: who the family head is, whether other branches of the family agree, and whether any part was already sold.
  7. Sign and register: execute the deed, apply for Governor's consent (or a C of O if the land has none), and keep certified copies.

The family land risk

Much land around Osogbo is held by families and sold plot by plot. The risks are that one member sells without the others, that the same plot is sold twice, or that the family's own boundary is disputed with a neighbouring family. Section 26 of the Land Use Act says transactions contrary to the Act are void, so a sale that skipped required consent can collapse later. Ask the lawyer to meet the family head and get the signatures of principal members on the conveyance, and photograph the signing.

Using a lawyer remotely

  • Choose the lawyer yourself, not through the seller. Confirm they are a legal practitioner in Nigeria and ask for an engagement letter that lists the searches they will do and their fee.
  • Ask for written search reports with registry receipts, not just a phone call saying the land is clean.
  • If someone will sign for you, use a written power of attorney limited to this transaction, and ask the lawyer what registration or stamping it needs in Osun.
  • Agree that the purchase price goes from your account to the seller (or the lawyer's client account) only after the searches are back, and never in cash to an agent.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme multicurrency account lets you hold GBP, USD or EUR and swap to naira when you choose to pay, with the rate shown before you approve. Pay sellers by traceable transfer and keep a verifiable receipt. For the C of O process itself, see how to get a C of O in Osogbo, and for wider checks read land title checks in other cities.

Questions people ask

How can I verify land in Osogbo from abroad?

Instruct your own lawyer to search the title at the Osun State lands registry, have a registered surveyor chart the plot, and send someone you trust to inspect it before you pay in full.

Is family land in Osun safe to buy?

It can be, but confirm the family head and principal members sign, check no part was sold before, and chart the survey to rule out disputes.

Do I need Governor's consent when buying land with a C of O?

Yes. Section 22 of the Land Use Act requires the Governor's consent before a statutory right of occupancy is assigned.

Can a relative sign for me?

Yes, with a written power of attorney limited to the transaction. Ask your lawyer what Osun requires for it to be valid and registered.
