BruceCareYour competitor down the road sells the same thing you sell. The difference is who walks in. We put money in people’s hands that can only be spent in businesses like yours — and then we point them at you.
You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

We give the buyer a one-time account number. They transfer to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Your own laptop and phone are personal effects. New, boxed or extra devices can be treated as merchandise. What Customs and the courts have said.
A laptop and phone you are using are personal effects and are not normally charged duty at a Nigerian airport. New, boxed or multiple devices can be treated as merchandise in baggage: a Customs spokesman said in 2019 that personal effects should not exceed ₦50,000 in value, while the Federal High Court in 2020 held that goods in a passenger's baggage not meant for sale should not attract duty.
At Lagos, Abuja or any Nigerian international airport, the Customs officer is deciding one thing about your devices: are they for your own use, or are they goods you intend to sell, barter or give in a way that looks like trade? A used laptop in your backpack and the phone in your hand are personal effects. Ten sealed phones in their boxes, three new laptops, or a suitcase of accessories look like merchandise, whatever you intend.
Two public statements point in slightly different directions, and you should know both.
In October 2019 the Nigeria Customs Service spokesman Joseph Attah told The Guardian that personal effects "shall not exceed the value of N50,000.00" and that items above that are treated as merchandise in baggage and are dutiable. The case discussed involved a bag and shoes valued at ₦570,467.40 at Abuja airport, on which duty of ₦165,692.25 was charged. That ₦50,000 figure dates from 2019 and has not, on the pages we checked, been updated; ask Customs or check its official channels before relying on it.
In Ogunwumiju v Nigerian Customs Service Board (FHC/ABJ/CS/1113/2019), the Federal High Court in Abuja held that Customs had no legal basis to charge duty of ₦156,955.20 on a laptop bag in a passenger's baggage, because the officers did not show it was meant for sale, barter or exchange. The court ordered a refund and ₦5 million in exemplary damages, as reported by TheCable and Nairametrics on 14 May 2020. The test the court applied was use, not price.
In practice: carry your own devices without worry; expect questions about anything new, boxed or in quantity; and if you are charged, insist on an official assessment and receipt.
Unpacking a new phone, setting it up and carrying it as your own does not change what it is if the officer believes it is for sale, but it does support a claim that it is for personal use. Do not misdescribe goods: a false declaration is a separate problem from duty.
When items are treated as merchandise, duty is calculated on their value under the tariff heading (HS code) for that product, with a surcharge and VAT on top. DHL Nigeria's guide (25 June 2026) describes the method for imports: duty on the value converted at the CBN rate on the day of assessment, a surcharge of 7% of the duty, and VAT at 7.5% on the value plus duty and charges. The rate for laptops or phones depends on their HS code; we could not confirm the current rates, so check the Customs tariff lookup or ask the officer which heading was used.
Suppose two new phones are assessed at a combined ₦1,200,000 and the duty rate applied is an illustrative 20% (your actual rate may differ):
| Line (example) | Basis | ₦ |
|---|---|---|
| Value assessed | Example | 1,200,000 |
| Import duty | 20% of value (illustrative rate) | 240,000 |
| Surcharge | 7% of duty | 16,800 |
| VAT | 7.5% of 1,456,800 | 109,260 |
| Total | Duty + surcharge + VAT | 366,060 |
The official assessment may differ in the levies it includes. The point of the example is the order of magnitude: on new electronics, the bill can approach a third of the value, which is why receipts and a clear personal-use story matter.
Receipts help most when they are clear and credible. If you paid for a device from your Pryme account, you can generate a regular or a verifiable receipt or statement through Pryme's partnership with VerifyDoc.ai, which anyone can check is genuine and unaltered. For other items coming home, see personal effects when returning to Nigeria and how much cash you can bring in.
Not normally, if it is your own laptop in use. A 2020 Federal High Court judgment held that goods in a passenger's baggage not meant for sale should not attract duty.
No official number was found on the pages we checked. One phone in use is a personal effect; several new or boxed phones are likely to be treated as merchandise.
A Customs spokesman said in October 2019 that personal effects should not exceed ₦50,000 in value. That figure is dated; confirm with Customs before you travel.
You can, but a new boxed phone may be assessed for duty. Carry the receipt, declare it accurately and ask for an official assessment if duty is charged.
