Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Codes & registration

Company TIN: how it is issued after CAC registration

How a company's TIN is linked to its CAC registration, where to find it after incorporation and what to do if no TIN was issued.

The short answer

A company's TIN is tied to its CAC record: the JTB and TaxPro Max registration routes pull the company's details from the CAC database using its RC number (or BN number for a business name), and Techeconomy's December 2025 guide reports that the CAC number serves as the business's Tax ID. After incorporation, check the JTB verification page with the RC number; if no TIN shows, register through the JTB non-individual portal or your NRS tax office.

How the CAC record and the TIN connect

Nigeria links tax registration to company registration. When you incorporate a company or register a business name at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the entity receives an RC or BN number. Techeconomy's December 2025 guide explains that tax registration for businesses uses that number on the JTB non-individual portal or on TaxPro Max, and that the system "automatically retrieves your business details from the CAC database". The same guide says the business's CAC registration number "will serve as your Tax ID".

What this means in practice: you should not need to type your company details into the tax system from scratch, and the identifiers the tax authority holds should match CAC exactly. It also means that errors at CAC, such as a misspelt name or an old address, flow into your tax record.

Where to find your company's TIN

  1. Search tinverification.jtb.gov.ng with the RC number (company) or BN number (business name).
  2. Check any email you received around incorporation from CAC or the tax authority.
  3. Ask whoever handled incorporation, often a CAC-accredited agent, accountant or company secretary.
  4. Look at documents that would have required it: a bank account opening pack, SCUML application, or tax filings.

For more on searching, see checking a TIN on the JTB portal.

If no TIN shows up

There are a few common reasons, and each has its own fix:

SituationLikely causeWhat to do
Company incorporated very recentlyRecords may not have flowed through yetWait a few working days and search again
Older companyRegistered before automatic linking; may have a TIN under an old formatAsk your NRS tax office to look it up by name and RC number
Search finds nothing at allNo TIN has been createdRegister on the JTB non-individual portal or TaxPro Max using the RC or BN number
Details wrong on the resultCAC record has an errorCorrect it at CAC, then ask NRS to update the tax record

Registering if none exists

  1. Get your CAC certificate and current status report.
  2. Open the JTB non-individual registration route, or TaxPro Max, and enter the RC or BN number.
  3. Confirm the details pulled from CAC and add contact information you control.
  4. Submit and save the confirmation. Then search the JTB verification page to check it appears.

TIN registration is free, according to Techeconomy's guide. If you also need to file and pay on TaxPro Max, see how to register on TaxPro Max.

Business names and companies are treated differently

Founders often register a business name first and a limited company later, and assume one TIN covers both. It does not. A business name is registered under a BN number and a company under an RC number; each is a separate entity on CAC's records, so each has its own tax identity. If you convert a business name into a company, the new company needs its own TIN, and you should keep the business name's TIN for any returns it still owes until it is closed. The same applies to a group of companies: every subsidiary has its own RC number and TIN.

Directors sometimes give their personal TIN when a form asks for the company's. Banks and tax offices treat that as an error. Your personal TIN belongs to you; the company's belongs to the company, and forms for the business should carry the business's number.

What you will need the company TIN for

  • Opening a business bank account. WithinNigeria's June 2026 guide lists the TIN among documents for both limited companies and business names; see TIN for a business bank account.
  • SCUML registration for designated businesses, where SCUML's 2025 guideline asks for a TIN printout.
  • Importing, where the SONCAP Certificate documents include the importer's TIN according to Bureau Veritas's October 2024 data sheet.
  • Filing company income tax and VAT and getting a tax clearance certificate later.

Remember that a TIN is not proof of tax compliance. Filing obligations start from incorporation; see small company tax under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 and CAC annual returns.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme Business Account can be opened from any country. Its Finance agent can prepare a filing calendar once your TIN is in place; a person approves anything above a set ceiling.

Questions people ask

Does CAC give TIN after registration?

The tax registration uses your CAC RC or BN number and pulls your details from CAC. Search the JTB verification page with the RC number to see whether a TIN has been created.

How do I get TIN for my company?

Search the JTB portal with the RC number first. If nothing appears, register on the JTB non-individual route or TaxPro Max using the RC number.

Is RC number the same as TIN?

Techeconomy's 2025 guide reports that the CAC registration number serves as a business's Tax ID. Older companies may also have a separate legacy TIN.

How long after CAC registration does TIN come?

No official timeline is published. If a new company does not show after a few working days, ask your NRS tax office.
