Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to check or verify a TIN on the JTB portal

Use the JTB TIN verification page with your NIN, BVN, or a company's RC or BN number, what the search shows and what to do with no match.

The short answer

To check a TIN, open the Joint Tax Board's verification page at tinverification.jtb.gov.ng: an individual searches with NIN or BVN plus date of birth, first name and last name, and a business searches with its CAC RC or BN number. The result confirms whether a TIN has been assigned and shows it, so you can confirm your own number or check a supplier's before relying on it.

What the JTB verification page is

The Joint Tax Board's portal is the shared lookup for Nigerian tax identification numbers. Techeconomy's December 2025 guide gives its address as tinverification.jtb.gov.ng and describes it as the place both to verify a TIN and to register non-individual taxpayers. It is useful in three situations: you want to know whether you already have a TIN before registering, you have lost your number, or you need to confirm that a business you are paying or contracting with has the TIN it claims.

Checking an individual's TIN

  1. Go to tinverification.jtb.gov.ng and choose the individual search.
  2. Select NIN or BVN as the identifier.
  3. Enter the number, your date of birth, first name and last name exactly as they appear on that record.
  4. Submit and read the result.

If a TIN is assigned to you, the search confirms it. If nothing is found, it usually means one of two things: you have no TIN yet, or the details you typed do not match the identity record. Try again with the other identifier and a careful date of birth before concluding you need to register. Our guide to getting a TIN as an individual covers the next step if there is no match.

Checking a company or business name

For a business, use its CAC registration number: the RC number for a company or the BN number for a business name. Techeconomy notes that the system "automatically retrieves your business details from the CAC database", which is why the CAC number is the key. A result shows whether that entity has a TIN.

Using it to check a supplier

Finance teams often receive a TIN on an invoice or onboarding form. A quick check catches typing errors and the occasional false number before you deduct withholding tax against it or file it in a return.

Common problems and fixes

No result for a person who has a TIN
Date of birth or name order does not match the NIN or BVN record. Try the other identifier.
Two TINs come up in your history
Usually an old registration by an employer or tax office and a new one. Ask your tax office which is active before you use either.
Company not found by RC number
Check the number and whether the company was registered recently; see company TIN after CAC registration.
Page will not load
Try later or on a different browser; the portal is shared by many users at filing deadlines.

Where a verified TIN is asked for

A TIN that matches the JTB record is a building block for many other filings, and errors travel. A few examples from sources we checked:

  • SCUML registration. SCUML's 2025 guideline lists a TIN printout among the core documents for both companies and business names; see why banks ask for SCUML.
  • Import certification. Bureau Veritas's SONCAP data sheet (October 2024) lists the importer's RC number and TIN among the documents for each SONCAP Certificate.
  • Bank accounts. Banks ask for the TIN when opening corporate accounts; see TIN for a business bank account.

Printing the verification result, or saving it as a PDF with the date visible, gives you a clean record to attach to these applications rather than a number typed from memory.

What the check does not tell you

A successful search confirms that a TIN exists for that identity. It does not tell you whether the taxpayer has filed returns or paid tax. For that, a tax clearance certificate is the relevant document; see company tax clearance from NRS. It also does not replace a state payer ID where a state revenue service asks for one; see JTB TIN, NRS TIN and state tax IDs.

Where Pryme fits

Businesses on a Pryme Business Account can ask the Finance agent to prepare a supplier list with TINs flagged for checking. It prepares the list; someone on your team runs the JTB check and approves payments.

Questions people ask

How do I check my TIN online?

Go to tinverification.jtb.gov.ng and search with your NIN or BVN, date of birth, first name and last name.

How can I verify a company's TIN?

Search the JTB verification page with the company's CAC RC number, or the BN number for a business name.

Why does the JTB portal say no record found?

Your details may not match the NIN or BVN record, or you may not have a TIN yet. Try the other identifier before registering.

Does a TIN check show if a company pays tax?

No. It confirms a TIN exists. Ask for a tax clearance certificate to see tax compliance.
