Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals and follows up. Nothing leaves your account without your approval.
Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She holds dollars, pounds, euros and Naira side by side, swaps at a locked rate, pays bills in any of them and sends anywhere, asking before anything moves.

We give you a limit to spend at the shops and services you already use — and an account that works on your month while you get on with it. Dollars, pounds and euros sit beside your Naira, and an assistant handles the running of it, asking you first every single time.
One global account for your money and business. Move across currencies, automate everyday operations and put AI agents to work — with you in control of every important decision.

BruceCareYour competitor down the road sells the same thing you sell. The difference is who walks in. We put money in people’s hands that can only be spent in businesses like yours — and then we point them at you.
You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

No card, no OTP, nothing for the buyer to type in. They transfer from the bank app they already use, and the money lands in the same account your agents are running — already matched to the order, already in your books.
We give the buyer a one-time account number. They transfer to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Every CBN banking licence category explained, with the 2024 minimum capital for each and how many institutions the CBN lists showed in October 2026.
The CBN licenses deposit-taking banks in four main categories: commercial banks (international, national or regional), merchant banks, non-interest banks (national or regional) and payment service banks, with microfinance and mortgage banks licensed separately. On 17 October 2026 the CBN lists showed 28 commercial, 5 merchant, 6 non-interest and 5 payment service banks.
| Category | Institutions on CBN list | Can take retail deposits? | Can lend? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commercial banks | 28 | Yes | Yes |
| Merchant banks | 5 | Limited (wholesale focus) | Yes |
| Non-interest banks | 6 | Yes | Yes, through non-interest contracts |
| Payment service banks (PSBs) | 5 | Yes | No |
| Microfinance banks (MFBs) | 790 | Yes | Yes |
| Primary mortgage banks | 33 | Yes | Yes, mainly housing finance |
| Finance companies | 126 | No | Yes |
| Development finance institutions | 8 | No | Yes |
| Financial holding companies | 7 | Not applicable | Not applicable |
Commercial banks offer the full range of retail and corporate banking. The CBN grants them one of three authorisations, which decide where they may operate. Under the March 2024 recapitalisation circular, each authorisation has its own minimum capital, which banks had until 31 March 2026 to meet. The circular allowed banks to raise new capital through rights issues, private placements or offers, to merge with or acquire another bank, or to change to a licence authorisation whose capital level they could meet. Retained earnings and other reserves did not count towards the new minimum.
| Licence authorisation | Where it can operate | Minimum capital (2024 review) |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial, international | Nigeria and offshore subsidiaries or branches | ₦500 billion |
| Commercial, national | All states of Nigeria | ₦200 billion |
| Commercial, regional | A limited number of states | ₦50 billion |
The 28 commercial banks on the CBN list include long-established names such as Access, First Bank, GTBank, UBA and Zenith, and newer licensees such as Alpha Morgan, Nova Commercial, Optimus, Signature and Tatum. The CBN list does not show each bank’s authorisation, so we have not assigned them here.
Merchant banks serve corporate, institutional and high-net-worth clients with services such as project and trade finance, treasury and advisory. The 2024 circular set their minimum capital at ₦50 billion. The CBN lists five: Coronation, FSDH, Greenwich, Quest and Rand Merchant Bank.
Non-interest banks operate without charging or paying interest, using contracts based on principles such as Islamic commercial jurisprudence. The 2024 circular set minimum capital at ₦20 billion for national and ₦10 billion for regional authorisation. The CBN non-interest list shows six entries: Alternative Bank, Jaiz Bank, Lotus Bank, Mint Microfinance Bank, Summit Bank and TAJ.
PSBs were created to widen access to financial services, especially in rural areas, through mobile and agent channels. Under the CBN’s PSB guidelines (revised August 2020) they can take deposits, run payments and remittances and issue debit and prepaid cards, but cannot grant loans or take foreign currency deposits. Their minimum capital is ₦5 billion. The five on the CBN list are 9 PSB, Hope PSB, MoMo Payment Service Bank, Moneymaster PSB and SmartCash PSB.
All deposit-taking banks above are covered by NDIC deposit insurance up to the limit for their category; see NDIC insurance limits. To check that a specific institution is licensed, follow the steps in how to check a CBN licence.
The licence category tells you what an institution is allowed to do, not how good its service is. A few practical consequences follow from it.
| If you need | Look for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A salary account, cards and loans | Commercial bank, MFB or non-interest bank | All three can take deposits and lend. |
| Interest-free banking | Non-interest bank (or a non-interest window of a commercial bank) | Products are structured without interest. |
| A simple mobile wallet with cash-in and cash-out | PSB or MMO | Built for payments, but PSBs cannot lend. |
| Large corporate or trade finance | Merchant bank or commercial bank | Merchant banks specialise in wholesale business. |
| A mortgage | Primary mortgage bank or commercial bank | PMBs focus on housing finance. |
Two cautions. First, a company’s app or brand name is often different from its licensed name, so match the legal name in the app’s terms against the CBN list. Second, a technology company that is not itself licensed may hold your money with a licensed partner bank; in that case, the partner’s licence and NDIC cover are what protect your deposit.
Counts and names are from the CBN’s supervised-institution lists, downloaded from cbn.gov.ng on 17 October 2026. Capital figures for commercial, merchant and non-interest banks are from the CBN circular “Review of Minimum Capital Requirements for Commercial, Merchant and Non-Interest Banks in Nigeria” of 28 March 2024; the PSB figure and permitted activities are from the CBN’s PSB licensing guidelines of 27 August 2020. The CBN’s PDF server did not allow automated download on our access date, so these figures reflect the circulars as published and widely reported at the time. The CBN lists do not record which banks met the 2024 capital rules; check the CBN and each bank’s own announcements for that.

No. PSBs can take deposits and make payments but are not allowed to lend.
Yes. MFBs are CBN-licensed banks that take deposits and lend, with a narrower scope and lower capital than commercial banks.
