Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United States

CAC director update when you move to the US

How a director of a Nigerian company updates their address and ID on CAC records after moving to the US: the form, fees, timelines and privacy option.

The short answer

A change in a director's particulars, such as a new residential address or ID, is a post-incorporation filing on the CAC portal; CAC's service timelines list director changes (form CAC 7) and edits to director details at 12 working hours. The May 2025 fee schedule prices post-incorporation filings at ₦5,000 for a small company and ₦10,000 for other private companies, and restricting a director's residential address from public view costs ₦25,000 for a small company or ₦50,000 for other private companies.

When a director of a Nigerian company relocates to the US, the company's records at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) still show a Nigerian address, an old phone number and perhaps an expired ID. That matters more than it seems: banks, regulators and counterparties check CAC records, and a director who cannot be reached at the recorded address is a compliance gap. This guide explains how to update your details, using CAC's fee schedule, service timelines and FAQ as read in October 2026. It is information, not legal advice.

What needs updating

Go through the company's CAC record and list every detail that has changed:

  • Residential address (now in the US)
  • Phone number and email
  • Identification: for example, a renewed Nigerian passport, or a new nationality if you naturalised
  • Your role, if you are stepping back from day-to-day management
  • Your shareholding or significant control, if that is changing too

Each kind of change may be a separate filing. Changes to persons with significant control (PSC) are filed separately from director details.

The filing, fee and timeline

ItemCAC figureSource
Director changes (CAC 7) and edits to director details12 working hoursCAC service timelines
Post-incorporation filing fee₦5,000 small company; ₦10,000 other private company; ₦20,000 public companyCAC fee schedule, 29 May 2025
Same-day filing (optional)₦20,000 small company; ₦30,000 other private companyCAC fee schedule
Restriction of a director's residential address₦25,000 small company; ₦50,000 other private companyCAC fee schedule

CAC's older service charter (May 2023) described CAC 7 filings as instant. The current timelines page gives 12 working hours; use that as the guide and allow longer if the filing is queried.

Worked example: a small private company files one update to a director's address and ID (₦5,000) and asks for the director's residential address to be kept from public view (₦25,000). Total CAC fees: ₦30,000. Choosing same-day filing would add ₦20,000, for ₦50,000 in all.

How to file from the US

  1. Log in to the company's CAC portal account, or ask the company secretary or accredited agent who manages it. CAC's FAQ says the username can be an email, phone number or accreditation number.
  2. Choose the post-incorporation option for changes in directors' particulars and enter the new details.
  3. Upload supporting documents in the formats CAC accepts: PDF for documents, JPEG or PNG for photos and signatures, each up to 5MB.
  4. Pay through Remita; if the payment does not show, the FAQ says to use "Check Payment Status".
  5. Answer any query, then download the updated status report so the company has proof of the change.

Points that are not settled

Two questions come up for US-based directors that CAC's public pages do not answer clearly:

  • Foreign residential addresses. We could not confirm from a CAC page that every portal field accepts a US address. See whether the CAC portal accepts a US address.
  • ID requirements. CAC's FAQ has no passage on NIN or identity checks for directors. If you no longer hold a valid Nigerian passport, ask CAC or an accredited agent which ID it will accept before you file.

For the full set of duties a US-based director carries, see what CAC requires of US-based directors. Late annual returns also attract daily penalties; the Nigeria library explains CAC annual returns, deadlines and penalties.

Who else to tell

Updating CAC is only one part of moving. The same changed details sit in other records, and a mismatch between them is what usually triggers questions. Once the CAC filing is approved and you have the new status report:

  • The company's banks. Send each bank the updated status report and your new address and ID, so its records of signatories and directors match CAC's.
  • Tax records. If the company's tax registration lists you as a contact, ask the company's accountant to update it.
  • Your own Nigerian bank accounts. Personal accounts also need your new address; see updating your US address with a Nigerian bank.
  • Co-directors and the company secretary. Agree how you will sign resolutions and documents from the US, and who will receive official letters at the registered office.

Keep a short register of where your details are recorded and when you last updated each one. It saves time the next time you move or renew a passport.

Where Pryme fits

If the company banks with Pryme, a Pryme Business Account can be run from any country, and its Compliance agent can prepare reminders and checklists for filings like this, with a person approving anything above a set ceiling and every action recorded.
