2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

Bank personal loan in Nigeria: requirements and how banks decide

The documents Nigerian banks ask for on a personal loan, why salary domiciliation matters, and the checks a bank runs before it makes you an offer.

The short answer

A Nigerian bank personal loan usually needs a valid ID, your BVN, proof of employment and confirmation, salary paid into the lending bank (or a lien on it), bank statements and a clean credit record. Access Bank's list (Oct 2026) includes an employer's confirmation form, evidence of confirmation, staff ID, BVN, credit checks and a letter of lien or set-off. The bank then tests affordability before offering an amount.

A personal loan from a bank is usually the cheapest unsecured way for a salary earner in Nigeria to borrow a meaningful sum over one to three years. It is also the product with the most paperwork. Knowing exactly what the bank wants, and why, saves you a second trip and stops a good application failing on a technicality.

The standard requirements

RequirementWhy the bank asksExample from a bank's page (Oct 2026)
Valid ID and BVNIdentity and access to your credit and banking recordAccess Bank: copy of employment ID and valid means of identification; BVN
Proof of employment and confirmationConfirmed staff are less likely to lose the job suddenlyAccess Bank: evidence of confirmation, such as a confirmation or last promotion letter
Employer's confirmation formThe employer confirms salary and status directlyAccess Bank: Employee Status Inquiry or Employer's Confirmation Form
Salary domiciled with the bankRepayment is taken from the salary as it landsStanbic IBTC: salary must be paid into a Stanbic IBTC account
Letter of lien or set-offLets the bank take repayment from your accountsAccess Bank: Letter of Lien/Set off
Minimum income and time in jobAffordability and stabilityStanbic IBTC: at least 6 months with current employer; minimum net monthly income of ₦50,000 in its eligibility list
Credit checksExisting loans and repayment historyBoth banks run credit checks

Stanbic IBTC's page shows ₦20,000 as a minimum monthly income in its headline banner and ₦50,000 in the eligibility list (as at Oct 2026). When a bank's own page disagrees with itself, ask the branch which figure applies.

Bank statements

Most banks ask for recent statements, commonly covering several months, to see your salary credits, other income and existing repayments. If your salary is already paid into the lending bank, it can read the statement itself. If not, you will need a statement from your salary bank; our guide to bank statements for loan applications explains what lenders look for.

How banks decide: the assessment steps

  1. Eligibility screen. Age, nationality or residency, employer type and time in job. Stanbic IBTC, for example, requires applicants to be 21 or older and under 60 by the end of the tenure.
  2. Employer check. Many banks keep a list of approved employers. Staff of listed companies and public bodies get easier terms; others may need extra documents.
  3. Credit bureau check. The bank looks for active loans, defaults and how you have repaid. See how the credit bureaus work.
  4. Affordability. The bank works out how much of your net pay can go to repayments after existing loans. Many banks cap total repayments at a share of net monthly pay.
  5. Amount and tenure. Access Bank lends up to 75% of net annual salary for applicants with terminal benefits and up to 50% for those without, over up to 36 months (as at Oct 2026).
  6. Offer letter. Rate, fees, insurance, repayment date and conditions. You accept by signing.

Worked example (illustrative)

Tolu earns ₦200,000 a month net, ₦2,400,000 a year, and has no terminal benefit. Under Access Bank's published 50% limit, the most she could be considered for is ₦1,200,000. If the bank priced the loan at an example rate of 30% a year on a reducing balance over 24 months, ₦1,000,000 would cost about ₦55,913 a month, or about ₦341,908 in interest over the tenure. That repayment is about 28% of her net pay, which most affordability tests would allow if she has no other loans. The rate here is an example; the real rate is in the offer letter.

Common reasons applications fail

  • Not yet confirmed in the job, or less than the minimum time with the employer.
  • Salary not paid into the bank and no willingness to move it.
  • An unpaid loan, even a small app loan, on the bureau record.
  • Existing repayments that already take too much of net pay.
  • Name or date-of-birth mismatches between ID, BVN and employer records.

See why bank loans get rejected for how to fix each one.

What to check first

  1. Confirm your employer is on the bank's approved list.
  2. Ask whether you must move your salary account, and what happens if you change jobs.
  3. Get the rate, fees and credit life insurance charge in writing; Access lists credit life insurance as a feature of its Personal Loan.
  4. Check early repayment terms before you sign.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme Financial is a technology company, not a bank. If you need a statement for a loan application, you can generate a verifiable statement through our partnership with VerifyDoc.ai so the lender can check it has not been altered (receipts and statements). For spending with Spaces merchants, a Loans on Spaces limit may be offered by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank, with full terms shown before you accept.

Questions people ask

What are the requirements for a personal loan in a Nigerian bank?

Typically a valid ID, BVN, proof of employment and confirmation, an employer's confirmation form, salary paid into the bank or a lien letter, recent statements and a clean credit record. Each bank publishes its own list.

Do I need to move my salary account to get a bank loan?

Often yes. Stanbic IBTC requires the salary to be paid into a Stanbic IBTC account for its unsecured loan (Oct 2026). Some banks accept a lien or an employer undertaking instead.

How much personal loan can I get on my salary?

It depends on the bank's formula and your other repayments. Access Bank lends up to 50% of net annual salary without terminal benefits, or 75% with them (Oct 2026).

Can I get a bank personal loan if I am not confirmed?

Many banks require confirmation. Access Bank asks for evidence of confirmation. Digital salary products may still be open to you.
