Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Zenith Bank fixed deposit: minimum, tenors and early exit

Zenith Bank's fixed deposit minimum is quoted at ₦20,000 by a 2024 comparison. What else is known, why Zenith's site is hard to check, and what to ask.

The short answer

Zenith Bank's own pages could not be read in October 2026, and its fixed deposit terms are not published on any page we could open. A July 2024 nairaCompare article listed the minimum as ₦20,000; tenors, rates and the early-exit rule are agreed at booking, so get them in writing from a branch or the contact centre.

What can and cannot be checked

Zenith Bank is one of Nigeria's largest banks by deposits, and many savers look to it first for a fixed deposit. Checking its terms is harder than it should be. In October 2026 zenithbank.com refused automated requests from our checks, and we could not open a Zenith fixed deposit product page. A nairaCompare listing for the Zenith fixed deposit also failed to load its product details.

The one published figure we found is in a nairaCompare article dated 13 July 2024, which lists the Zenith fixed deposit minimum as ₦20,000, alongside Access Bank and Fidelity at the same figure. The article gives no tenors, rates or early-exit terms for Zenith, and says minimums may change. Treat ₦20,000 as a starting point for your question to the bank.

This matters because comparison figures age. The same 2024 article quoted a deposit insurance limit that the NDIC has since raised tenfold for commercial banks, which shows how quickly a once-accurate page goes stale. A written quote from Zenith, dated and signed, is the only figure you can hold the bank to.

Early exit: the term that matters most

Without a product page, the early-liquidation rule is unknown. At Nigerian banks it typically means losing some or all of the interest earned so far, or being paid a lower rate for the days held, and sometimes a charge. The cost grows with the amount and the time already served, so ask before you book, not when you need the money.

Two ways to reduce the risk are worth considering. One is to choose a tenor that ends before the date you might need the money. The other is to split a large sum into two or three deposits with different maturity dates, so only part is ever locked far from maturity. This approach is often called laddering.

Worked examples

Example only, with assumed rates, not Zenith quotes.

ScenarioCalculationGross interest
Minimum deposit, 30 days at 10% a year₦20,000 × 10% × 30 ÷ 365₦164.38
₦5,000,000 for 1 year at 12%₦5,000,000 × 12%₦600,000
₦5,000,000 for 1 year at 14% (negotiated)₦5,000,000 × 14%₦700,000

At the minimum, a month's interest is small change, so the deposit is mainly a way to put money out of reach. On ₦5,000,000, two percentage points of negotiation is worth ₦100,000 over a year before tax. That is why larger depositors ask for a rate in writing and compare it with other banks. See negotiating a fixed deposit rate.

Interest timing and rollover

Ask Zenith how interest is paid on your booking. At most Nigerian banks it comes at maturity with the principal, but some also offer monthly or upfront payment, and the choice affects both when you can use the money and how much it is worth. Upfront interest is worth more at the same rate, because you hold it for the whole term; monthly interest suits someone using the deposit as income.

Ask, too, what happens at maturity if you say nothing. Automatic rollover at the rate on the day is common, and a rolled-over deposit is a new booking under the same early-exit rule. If you want the money back on a date, give a written instruction to pay out and diary the maturity a week ahead. Our guides to upfront interest vs interest at maturity and rollover at maturity cover both choices.

How to open a Zenith fixed deposit

  1. Hold a Zenith account in your name. Zenith's FAQ says you can open an account online from abroad if you have a BVN.
  2. Contact your branch or the contact centre. TechCabal's May 2026 directory lists 0700-ZENITHBANK (0700-936-4842265), 0201-278-7000, zenithdirect@zenithbank.com and ZiVA on WhatsApp at 07040004422.
  3. Ask for the minimum, the tenors, the rate per year, how interest is paid and the early-exit rule.
  4. Ask whether the booking can be done in the app or internet banking, or only through a branch.
  5. Give your maturity instruction and keep the deposit advice.

TechCabal's directory also advises verifying numbers through official channels and asking for a ticket number when you raise a query, which is good practice when you are moving a large sum.

Tax and deposit insurance

Interest on bank deposits is generally subject to withholding tax, deducted before the interest reaches you; the 2024 nairaCompare article gives 10%. Ask Zenith whether its quote is gross or net. Zenith is a deposit money bank, and the NDIC covers deposits at such banks up to ₦5,000,000 per depositor across all your accounts there. See withholding tax on interest and are fixed deposits NDIC-insured.

What to check first

  • The minimum for the rate you are quoted.
  • The early-exit rule, in writing.
  • Whether the rate is per year, fixed and before tax.
  • The maturity default if you give no instruction.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme Fixed Savings Box shows the rate in the app before you commit, useful as a reference while you wait for a Zenith quote.
