Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

YouTube monetisation in Nigeria: requirements and payouts

The YouTube Partner Programme thresholds as YouTube publishes them, the AdSense set-up, which payout methods work for Nigeria, and the tax points to know.

The short answer

Nigeria is on YouTube's list of countries where the Partner Programme is available. Full ad revenue sharing needs 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days, with two-step verification and one linked AdSense for YouTube account. For Nigeria, YouTube's payment-method table lists wire transfer and cheque as available, and EFT and Hyperwallet as not available.

The two levels of the YouTube Partner Programme

YouTube now runs its Partner Programme (YPP) at two levels. The thresholds below are as published on YouTube's help pages, checked in October 2026; YouTube can change them, so confirm on the Earn tab in YouTube Studio.

LevelThresholdsWhat it opens
Expanded YPP500 subscribers and 3 valid public uploads in the last 90 days, plus either 3,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months or 3 million public Shorts views in the last 90 daysFan funding (channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, Super Thanks) and Shopping, each with its own eligibility
Full YPP1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million public Shorts views in the last 90 daysRevenue sharing from adverts and YouTube Premium

YouTube counts "qualified" public watch hours and "valid" public uploads, so the figures in YouTube Studio's Earn tab, not your own estimate, decide when you can apply. Existing partners keep their current benefits, according to YouTube.

Other requirements

  • Your channel must be based in an available country or region. Nigeria is on YouTube's list.
  • Two-step verification must be on for the Google account that owns the channel.
  • You need one active AdSense for YouTube account linked to the channel. This is how YouTube pays you.
  • The whole channel must follow YouTube's channel monetisation policies, which YouTube checks during review.

Review, rejection and staying eligible

  • Review typically takes about one month, according to YouTube, though it can take longer.
  • If you are rejected, you can appeal within 21 days. Otherwise you can reapply after 30 days, or after 90 days if it is not your first rejection.
  • YouTube may turn off monetisation for a channel with no uploads or Posts for six months or more.
  • YouTube says partners must accept its updated YPP terms by 31 January 2027 to keep full monetisation from 1 February 2027.

Steps to apply

  1. Turn on two-step verification for your Google account.
  2. In YouTube Studio, open Earn and check your progress against the thresholds.
  3. When eligible, accept the YPP terms.
  4. Create or link an AdSense for YouTube account. Use your legal name and address exactly as on your ID and bank records.
  5. Wait for the policy review and watch for the result by email and in Studio.

Getting paid in Nigeria

Once earnings in AdSense reach the payment-method selection threshold (shown in your AdSense account and in YouTube's help pages), you choose a payout method. YouTube's payment-method table, checked in October 2026, shows for Nigeria:

MethodAvailable for Nigeria?
Wire transferYes
ChequeYes
EFT (electronic funds transfer)No
PayPal HyperwalletNo

In practice most Nigerian creators choose wire transfer to a bank account that can receive foreign currency. Wire transfers arrive in US dollars; your bank may convert them to naira or credit a domiciliary account, and intermediary banks may deduct charges. Ask your bank in advance what details to enter (SWIFT code, account name, intermediary bank) and what it charges. Cheques are slow to clear and rarely practical. See receiving money from abroad and domiciliary vs multicurrency accounts.

Worked example (illustrative figures only)

Suppose a channel's AdSense balance is $420 at the end of a month. If an intermediary bank deducts $20 and the receiving bank charges $10, $390 arrives. Converting $390 at an illustrative rate of ₦1,500 to the dollar (an example, not today's rate) gives ₦585,000. Your actual rate and charges will differ; check them before you convert.

Tax points

AdSense will ask you to submit tax information, and the information you give affects whether and how much US tax is withheld from earnings on views from the United States. Read Google's AdSense tax help before you submit. In Nigeria, YouTube income is taxable income for an individual or a business; see tax on foreign income for freelancers and tax on side hustle income. This is general information, not tax advice.

What to check first

  1. Does the Google account that owns the channel have two-step verification on?
  2. Is your name in AdSense the same as on your ID and on the bank account that will receive the wire?
  3. Has your bank confirmed it can receive a US dollar wire, and what it charges?
  4. Have you kept records of earnings and conversions for tax?

While you work toward the thresholds, income from brand sponsorships, affiliate links and your own products does not depend on YPP; see YouTube startup costs and time to earn.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme account gives you USD details alongside NGN, GBP and EUR, so dollar income can stay in dollars until you choose to convert with Swap, which shows the rate first and the fee on its own line. Check with YouTube's payment pages which payout methods your account supports before you change details. See multicurrency accounts.

Questions people ask

Is YouTube monetisation available in Nigeria?

Yes. Nigeria is on YouTube's list of countries where the YouTube Partner Programme is available.

How many subscribers do I need to make money on YouTube in Nigeria?

500 subscribers (with uploads and watch-time or Shorts thresholds) open fan funding and Shopping. Ad revenue sharing needs 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months, or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days.

How does YouTube pay Nigerians?

Through AdSense for YouTube. For Nigeria, YouTube's table lists wire transfer and cheque as available, and EFT and Hyperwallet as not available.

Can I receive YouTube money in a naira account?

A wire transfer arrives in dollars; your bank may convert it to naira or credit a domiciliary account. Ask your bank what details to use and what it charges.
